Excellent food. Loved the NC chopped bbq. Great service, as well. Will definitely go again.

Not bad. I guess a vegetarian shouldn’t go to Smokin’…but I was obliged because my carnivorous sister was feelin’ BBQ. I’m sure the meat is fantastic but it wouldn’t be too hard to do something veggie, right? Like the Deviled eggs w/o meat? Anyways. Cool place. Friendly service.

Great good and great service. Corn bread and hush puppies are my favorite. Sweet tea could be little sweeter

This has been a staple in Yorktown since they opened even though they’ve changed their name a few times. They have been a part of special events for my family since I was in highschool including several graduations, birthday parties, and baby showers. Their pulled pork is beyond delicious and I love that it comes without any sauce on it so you can choose your own. Love their baked beans(sweet and smokey), corn, and hushpuppies(some of the best!). They also have some deliciuos pies. What also makes this place to special is that during Thanksgiving, you can drop off your turkey a few days before and they will smoke it for you! All of our friends and family are so impressed with our turkey every year. Since I no longer live in the area, I always stop here and take some to go since there is no BBQ joint in the Valley that compares to this place. It is shocking to me to read some negative reviews since I go almost everytime I’m home and the BBQ never tastes«microwaved.» Smokin Joe’s step up your game if people really think this! I want them to love you as much as my family does!!!

Save your money and go to county grill. Food ten times better at County grill. I ate at Smoken Joes some years back and didn’t care for it so I just tried it again. Tried pork and brisket. Was ok but was like heated up food. Tried the beans and they were terrible. Won’t go back. They were not cheap priced eithier.

First time trying this place. I had the ½ lb. chopped pork bbq sandwich with a side of Mac & Cheese and hushpuppies. I don’t know if I came in at a bad time or something, but the chopped bbq was awful! Dry and no taste. I had to cover it in sauce to make it salvageable. I’m pretty sure the Mac & Cheese was Kraft out of the box. The hushpuppies were fine but I think it’s hard to mess that up. I most likely will not return.

Good… not great. The food is tasty and there’s a nice variety. One little annoyance during my last visit… on the menu they have platters where you pick from 2 or 3 meat choices… so I chose the brisket and ribs. Oh no… can’t get ribs with the platter. Maybe they should note that on the menu then. They have a variety of sauces on the table to choose from… which I love. The place is pretty small and the service could use some attention… the waitresses are nice as can be, but not very skilled. The food usually comes out in waves, leaving a couple people waiting while others begin to eat. Not my first choice for BBQ in the area, but if my friends want to go here, I’ll gladly tag along.

Dry, microwave bbq. Had to take a sip of water just to get a bite down. Mac & Cheese was cold out of the fridge. When we asked the staff to heat it up, we were looked at like we were from another planet. Will never return.

Amazing food. The Carolina Barbecue Sauce is the Bomb. Very good food. The Mac and Cheese is something to come back for as well. The food and the personality of the staff is really nice as well.

This was our go to BBQ place for quite some time. Stopped in again recently(we moved across town almost two years ago now — so haven’t had a chance to get in much) and had a good experience. Friendly service. I ordered the pulled chicken which is always a favorite and my partner had the brisket. Both were underwhelming and nothing like we remembered. As others have said the cornbread is to die for — and the selection of sauces is fantastic. Miss this little lunch spot in our monthly routine. I’m hoping it was just an off day and not a sign of slipping quality.

Went to a wedding where Smokin’ Joes did the catering, and it was good food. The pulled pork sandwiches were good, the ribs were okay. The chicken looked and smelled awesome, but I didn’t want to be a pig, so I didn’t try it. The garlic mashed potatoes were excellent and the cornbread is awesome. I’m sure it’s difficult to maintain the quality of the food at an outdoor wedding, but Joes did a pretty good job. I would definitely try the restaurant next time I’m in that area.

Had lunch there recently; had brisket with 2 sides. The brisket was dry and tasted more like roast beef(pot roast) than brisket that you would typically eat smoked and sliced with smoke ring. This meat was the opposite! Also my daughter had the pulled pork and the pork was cold. We were tempted to return the food but after waiting 20 mins and was now late to go back to work decided to just eat the sides only. In addition visited there only because of a coupon buy one and get second one free($ 8 value). Definitely will not eat there again. Big disappointment !!! Note: food is cooked the day before and microwaved the day of service.

Microwaved BBQ! I went here during the summer and thought my food had been microwaved, but decided to give them another chance. Today, no doubt about it – microwaved, dried out bbq. This place is the pits. The mac and cheese was not even edible. I said, give me something fresh and I got the onion rings, which they dont even make. They just fry them up! They were out of the half the sides I ordered. So, two chances to do it right-both times you served me microwaved food. I wont be back. Smoke is not that far of a drive.

Fantastic BBQ, and great friendly service. I’ve been to a few parties that they have catered and that is their bread and butter. Always a pleasure to visit when I come back to the YC

Stopped in on a Friday night. We’re new in town so not familiar with any of the BBQ places around, but we liked it! My favorite thing is the variety of sauce bottles on your table(I really hate the places that serve sauce in a tiny cup on the side of your plate). My favorite sauces were Smoky BBQ and Smokin’ Hot. I got pulled pork and beef brisket with Mac and cheese and red potato salad. It was all tasty, although I felt the potato salad was slightly dry and bland. We might have to try some other BBQ around here but I think it’s safe to say we’ll be back at Smokin’ Joe’s before too long!

Remarkably unpretentious, plain, simple, good Bar-B-Q, with pulled pork, ribs, chicken. Everybody has their own taste, but I find the pulled pork just right, nicely done, and I don’t like it sloppy-juicy, so find it great. Variety of sauces is adequate, none really hot. Some have applauded the potato salad, but wife and I find it rather bland. The baked beans are great, and the cole slaw is a bit on the sour side, which goes well with the pork. The staff is exceptionally friendly and have great southern accents. I’ll post some photos. Do not expect anything fancy. It’s an old neighborhood down-home Bar-B-Q place. You can get take-home food for four for around $ 15. Pork, slaw, baked beans, 4 buns.

Good for lunch.
Not quite as good as the County Grille and Smokehouse… but the place is solid.

Three meat plater is the way to go. Good BBQ and the fried oakra and collards are pretty stellar.

Fairly priced for BBQ. I had their«Carb Conscious» plate of pulled pork, chicken wings and babyback ribs. Chicken wings were smoked, which packed a lot of flavor and decently portioned. Babyback ribs were nicely grilled, nothing was burnt or overcooked. I hate when it’s overcooked. Now their pulled pork, my least favorite of the plate. It was too dry, even after mixing in the sauces(which by the way, they have I believe 6 – 7 different sauces). Their cornbread is super fluffy and delicious… but I can’t say it beats County Grill’s cornbread. But both are comparable to one another and beats any other cornbread I have had in a while.(FYI-Cracker Barrel’s cornbread is by far the worst) This is a very casual and cozy establishment. Definitely would go back. P. S. They give out the leftover bones to dogs in a tray outside – FORFREE. How cute.

Good BBQ place to pick up some nourishments while driving on 17 and starving! Get the pulled pork or chicken sandwiches. However, you’ll need to pull over to the side and eat. Otherwise, expect a big mess in your lap if you’re driving.
