Aamco Transmissions & Total Car Care

I am new to Unilocal,and AAMCO is one of the first places I am happy to review! We have been bringing vehicles to AAMCO for well over 10 years now. We continue to come back because we have been very happy with their service. They have replaced a transmission for us, as well as countless other smaller jobs. At least a handful of times, the work has been something very minor with minimal expense. I appreciate these experiences because it confirms for me that they are honest and perform their work with integrity. They have easy drop off with a slot to leave a vehicle key, as well as the option to pay over the phone by cc and pick up the vehicle after hours. Communication has always been positive and timely. Work is usually started the same day as drop off. On occasion we have chosen to get a second opinion and other shops have always confirmed the info we received from AAMCO, and usually for a higher price quote. There have been times we have opted not to complete all the work that was recommended, and Keith has been great at informing us of work that can safely wait and for how long. I have and will continue to highly recommend AAMCO!

I will not take my car back. A simple window repair took several days. Every time I called to check in on the car I had to explain from scratch who I was and what car they were working on. The guy answering the phones had no idea what was going on on the floor or what cars they had in for service. He also told me several times that they were so busy that they couldn’t keep up with the repairs and that they’d work on my cars for a few minutes and then work on a different car. Not efficient time management or customer service. They also called to get authorization to put 2 hours into the car and when I called back at the end of the day I was told that the mechanic hadn’t done anything because he was waiting for my authorization to start.
When I brought the car in I explained where the wiring problem was (in the hinge of my door) to the guy at the service desk when I dropped it off but they charged me for 3 hours of labor and told me it was because the mechanic just couldn’t figure out where the wiring problem was and finally found it in the hinge of the door.
Very frustrating and much more expensive than it needed to be.

I definitely recommend these guys!!!
I have been to many different auto shops in Michigan and here in Sunnyvale, and these guys are one of the best.
They are a honest and trust-​worthy auto shop which is very hard to find. They are also nice people (which is very rare for mechanics).
They usually take a few days to even be able to look at your car because they are so busy, but they do very good work!
If you are worried about people ripping you off or doing half-​a$$ jobs, then its worth it… just make sure you have a back up car for a couple days.
