Food was ok, service unacceptable. We had to wait 15 minutes to be served water, and then had to ask for Naan more than 3 times for them to bring it out. Our table was not set and had to get basic silver ware and napkins ourselves from the buffet– other tables were set. Two stars cause the food was ok… Never again!

My family of 3 walk in for buffet, my daughter just turn 3 in March and they want $ 6.99 for her. We walk away and went to Star of India. They don’t charge kids til they are 6 or 7 year old.

Came in for the lunch buffet. My sister wanted to try Indian for the first time and she loved it here. The food was excellent quality. The Naan came out hot and fresh too! Very impressed.

This is my go-to place for Indian food. Consistently good and clean inside. Dishes spiced perfectly, lots of flavor and not greasy. My kids love the butter chicken, it’s very tender and the sauce is creamy and delicious. Their bread is always hot and freshly made. Chai is homemade but needs a little sugar to round out the flavor. Lunch buffet is good but try to get there at least 45 minutes before the buffet ends because the food doesn’t get replenished much near the end. Staff is friendly and attentive. Only thing is they reserve booths and larger tables for bigger parties so you can’t sit where you want(even if empty) unless your party is almost exactly the same size as the seating. Otherwise very good food and worth checking out.

In my opinion, this is the best Indian food dining experience in Yuba City. The restaurant is clean and modern looking and the food is fresh with lots of interesting options. The naan is chewy and flavorful and the sauces and chutneys are interesting. They also have a full bar which I makes a nice place to wait for a table. Try the lunch buffet if you’re new to Indian food… It gives you the opportunity to sample a bit of everything.

Wonderful place to take a break when driving through Yuba City. Nice buffet, wonderful service with a smile and seems like where the locals come for lunch as well.

I came here for dinner by myself. The owner of the B&B where I am staying recommended the Star of India, but it has been a long weekend and I wanted a gin & tonic. The bar was hopping at 7:00 on a Sunday but the restaurant was mostly empty. I asked for a table by the window where there was a bit of light but was denied that because I was alone. No one arrived after me and took any of the seats in the area I had requested. The shrimp chille had RECOMMENDED next to it, so I picked it. The served asked about spiciness and we agreed on that. The spiciness was OK but the dish was cloyingly sweet. I mentioned that to the served, who simply smiled. I understand that I only tried once dish(albeit it was recommended on the menu) but found the redder of the two chutneys, which I assumed to be tamarind, to be just as ghastly sweet. The garlic naan was fine as was the beer. The service was as polite as it was perfunctory and rehearsed. It appears that I should have listened to the B&B owner.

We frequent their buffet often. Always tasty items, usual favorites, and always fresh. Service is fantastic, naan delivered quickly and its fresh and hot and oh-so buttery! We love this place!

This was a quick stop for lunch close by and it was delicious. The buffet had lots of options and not just chicken curry! Even goat was on the buffet line. It was quiet and clean. Waitresses were friendly. I would come back again!

Food: This is my pit stop when I drive to and from the SMF. I especially like their pakora, mango lassi, and baigan bharta. Not bad for Yuba City. I’ll stop by in the future for their lunch buffet. Ambience: Spacious. They have two separate areas in the restaurant — one for bar and the other for dining. This makes the place suitable for group dinners, dates, and special events. Clean bathrooms. No wait here for lunch or dinner so far. Plenty of parking in their private lot. Service: Attentive and timely. I can’t ask for more than that.

I was invited here for a birthday and was reserved about it. Ive never really had Indian food. This has now become my favorite place! Their portions are off the chain huge. I literally can’t get enough of their rice. Best thing to try as a newbie is their Butter Chicken. And go from there. They have a lunch buffet I can’t wait to try.

I absolutely enjoyed my first visit here and will definitely be coming back. The restaurant appears very high– end for Yuba city yet they are reasonably priced. The staff is super friendly and attentive. We didn’t have to look around to get someone’s attention but we were checked upon frequently throughout the evening. Some of the things we tried are listed below Paneer pakora– very delicious. They aren’t filled but cut and seasoned and friend– nonetheless delicious. Papdi chaat– we ordered it but never received so not sure how tasty it may have been We ordered fish, and something like fajita chicken quite flavorful. For entrée we had shahi paneer, butter chicken and lamb curry, raita and garlic naan. The curries are delicious and decent amount to share among 6 people. The naans are quite small so order one naan per person. The garlic naan wasn’t as flavorful as I was expecting. Lastly, we had two orders of Punjabi kulfi– one of them was very delicious but the second order was frozen. I am sure once it was slightly melted it may have tasted better. Overall a fab experience, will be coming by again!

I was in town on a layover and some local friends took me here for dinner. None of us had been there before, but trusting Unilocal reviews we thought we’d give it a try. Unilocal reviewers did not disappoint! This place was great! Not only was the food absolutely delicious, but the service was top notch! Our waiter was very attentive, made helpful menu suggestions and all around a very pleasant person. The food was well made and tasted terrific! Info on the spice level… if you like spicy food, medium won’t be hot enough, at least in my opinion. I would suggest ordering spicy and if you’re REALLY into extra spicy food, over extra hot… it will make your nose sweat! Lol Additionally, this place has a large, open bar/lounge area, but we only had dinner, no cocktails. If you like Indian food or curious to try, you will be delighted!

The best Indian food I’ve ever had in a restaurant. I’ve ate at a lot of Indian places all across northern Cali and this place blew me away. The service was good. Ambience was not tacky like your usual Indian restaurant. They have a full bar and also hosts parties. Don’t really have anything bad to say Highly recommend

From the outside it’s pretty plain. It can be kind of hard to spot if you never been there before. Inside the place is quite simple, a few decorations here and there. The chairs are comfortable. It was quite spacious. It was fairly easy to move around without bumping into any tables. The waiters were pleasant. They came in a timely manner. They greeted us with a smile and acknowledge our existence. I felt very welcomed at this restaurant. The food is pretty good. We ordered the lamb curry, the garlic naan, chicken masala, and samosas. The samosas were pretty good. They had a lot of potatoes and peas and onions, all of them marinated nicely. Usually I come across samosas that are very small but in this restaurant the Samosa were a lot bigger. The garlic naan was pretty good. There was a lot of garlic which is something that I personally like very much. It goes great with the curry. Speaking of the curry, there was a lot of meat in it. They’re also lots of sauce. They were very generous with the meat. This was also the case with the chicken masala. In general they are very generous with their portions. I could see myself coming back to this place.

Great food every time we have walked through the door, do yourself a favor and give them a try my wife and I love to eat here when ever we can. They have a buffet which is an awesome way to find things you would like if you are not sure on what to order.

Best Indian food in Yuba City! Their buffet is a killer deal. Only $ 9.99 and had over 20 options to choose from I always get the buttered chicken and basmati rice. Buffet comes with naan and several side dishes and desserts

I am a vegan for Lent and have had lunch here 4 times in the past two weeks. The buffet is excellent for vegans! I imagine it is excellent for others as well, but I’m thrilled with the options and the quality. I normally do not enjoy buffets, just not my type of dining experience, however this one rocks. There aren’t many servers around during lunch, but I’ve never felt neglected in the slightest and have found everyone I’ve interacted with to be delightful. I’ve come with both of my children and they find plenty to enjoy even though they are young and would prefer less flavor. Finally the price of the buffet is absurdly inexpensive for the quality and variety.

I ended up at Taste about 3pm. The place was almost empty except for a few folks enjoying happy hour at the bar. The lunch buffet was over. I had a craving for something sweet so I stopped in to try something new. The cabinet at the front was quite empty so I was a little discouraged. The young man behind the counter was not sure about the prices or availability of the Sweets that they had, asked me if I liked pistachios and then told me that he’d be right back. He emerged from the kitchen with a couple pieces of pistachio(burfi, I think) and told me he thought that they were really good. I’m very glad that I stopped in and the server’s welcoming and accommodating attitude will defiantly bring me back.

Being in a city populated with a large Indian community, you’d think that the Indian food here would be stellar. The food was tasty, but unfortunately, by no means stellar. It was pretty empty around 7pm on a Thursday night. Customers did start to trickle in as we were leaving though. Our waitress had to man the whole dining area so she did take a little to get to us. Understandable though. We both had the chicken tikka masal, medium spicy with garlic naan. I liked that the curry came with rice on the side; most places will charge extra. What was weird for me though was that the dish came with large cuts of onions and bell peppers. I’ve had a lot of chicken tikka masala in my time from various restaurants. None have ever offered it with bell peppers. Very odd and definitely changed the flavor of the dish. We decided to add on an extra order of butter chicken since that dish doesn’t come with vegetables. Turns out, their butter chicken is more in line with the traditional chicken tikka masala most places offer IMO. I did like the fact that the chicken was very tender and moist. And the garlic naan was very tasty. Prices are a little on the higher end. The water they served also had a weird taste to it. Service was a bit slow but friendly. Overall, an ok place to stop by for Indian food.
