The Happy Viking

The viking has become our favorite place. Me and my friends have been coming every tuesday for pint night for the last 2 yrs. Whitney and Jamie have taken care of us each visit. Service is amazing, wings are amazing. If you are in the area you need to make a stop and check it out. They have a rotating beer menu that changes about every week so there is something new to try out all the time. There is no doubt that the viking is the place to be.

Expensive alcohol food not bad tho I had a friend do the wing challenge he completed it but was down and felt terrible for like 3 days after

I’ve been to the Happy Viking many times and they are always top notch in service and food quality. This is just a really fun place to go!

After a long day of driving I wanted to sit down for dinner with my kid. Looking for «kid friendly» places in Yuba City we were intrigued by The Happy Viking. We expected a bit of a viking theme – there was none.
When we entered there was a crowd waiting at the door and a sign telling us the hostess would seat us. There were plenty of open tables. We waited about seven minutes before a hostess came by and after she seated the other parties she pulled out some menus, asking, how many in our party? «Just two?» She put the menus back and said, facing away from us, that she had another party to seat and it would be at least five minutes, and she would put us all the way in the back, was that okay?
I pointed out all the open tables up front but was told they were dirty. When I said we’d been waiting patiently for a while she snapped, «well I’m really busy!» And then went off to talk to a waiter at the wait station. He, of course, turned and looked at me. When she finally came back to seat us, he turned and looked at me as we walked past him.
The wonderful table we waited for was next to the bathrooms, across from video games (my kid said, «who would want to eat across from a giant ZOMBIE video game?!»). The hostess slapped down the menu and then announced «we’re out of kid’s menus» before rattling off what was available.
Just then it occurred to me I was going to be paying people to be rude to us, seat us at the worst table in the place, and that the place was a giant sports bar.
We left.
As we walked out the waiter turned and said, «Bye bye!» with a shit-​eating grin.

Man. I love the happy Viking most nights. There are nights where I despise this place though, but it won’t stop me from giving them a solid review.
I’ve been here I don’t know how many times now and 9 times out of 10 me and whoever I’m with will receive excellent service by some of the nicest servers in town, and then that 10^th time happens and we get treated like a couple of lepers. Oh well. Enough about that.
The pizza, wings, burgers, and pasta here are fantastic. Also, the Brewers choice platter is a gift from the heavens above. PS, get the southwestern sauce for your mozzarella sticks or cheddar pints. It is the straight up chronic. However, NEVER EVER EVER EVERRRRR order tacos here. You’ll get them wrapped in stale tortillas that make me go :/​every time. They have a solid beer selection that is rotating and they have a ton of tv screens in there and a fun jukebox you can choose pretty much any song of all time on there.
Overall, this is one of the best late evening places in the area and I will continue to come back here until the end of time… or my residence in yuba city. Whichever comes first, I guess.

My dad and I split a monster burger, 2 kinds of awesome wings, and got the garlic fries. The food, beer and service were awesome. We will be coming back the next time we’re in town.

Been here many times and the food has always been 5 stars. There is one waitress that is so rude but everyone else is awesome. The day time bartender (woman) I forget her name is awesome. I will get the beer sampler and let her pick mine out. I like to order my beer from her direct a few waitress take offense to it I think especially the one. But I don’t care they have so many beers on tap I want to go directly to the person that poring for my info. Alway a great place to go to.

Great food, I’ve had lunch here quite a few times, but this is my first review. I have tried the Rattlesnake Pasta (hot, but very tasty!), the philly cheesesteak and the Ruben (latest sandwich). Awesome selection of beer and great staff. If you want to stop in for a great lunch and a beer (or a mixed drink, they do have a full bar), you could do a lot worse!

Another great batch of wings hands down best in the Yuba Sutter area. Wife’s Nachos were $ 5 and heaping with toppings this place is no joke and satisfying.

Food was amazing. Their wings are always good but this time I had the chili cheeseburger with garlic fries and a veggie haters pizza. When the food came out my pizza was slightly burnt (but still edible) so they said they would make me another one for free and let me keep the burnt one. Free pizza! It was also a Sunday night so they had $ 2 pints of beer. Good food, good service, and decently priced. One of my favorite restaurants in the area.

Just your typical grease smothered food. There was nothing special about the burger and wings we ordered. The table and floors were filthy. The environment was loud and busy. Service was a bit slow. We (2 adults, 2 kids) went on a Saturday around 5pm. The server could have been friendlier. Overall, I’m unimpressed and will not return.

The food is just simple bar food nothing special, if you like beer this is your place I just do not drink so can not speak about the alcohol.
The reason I’m giving three stars is because the service was very good our server was Nixon and she was great other then that it was so so.

Only 2 stars for the food & our first server. In the middle of our meal we had a shift change, of course we understand… However our second server seemed to care more about her other (male) patrons then our family of 6. Had to ask for hot sauce 3x & with a response of «yeah» or «ok» before it came & by that point all food had been eaten. Food was good, atmosphere was friendly… But servers seem to want to cater to friends & flirt more then taking care of all paying customer.

Very very good food.
Service is hit or miss, one time our waitress was awesome, the second time we had one that seemed less than interested in being there.
Overall we like the food and will probably be back.

Only reason for 4 stars is because a while back i was with my cousins after we watched a movie we wanted to grab food, i know the rule after 10 no one gets in unless you are 21, with that said around 9:30 i called and asked if it was still enough time to come into eat. I was assured i would be able to come in and eat, got there about 5 minutes later and was stopped at the door, and had to go all the way across town, i love the food, and from what friends say they have great drinks. Went back recently and wasn’t disappointed, fast service and got a table without wait

This place is great. The atmosphere is nice and even kid friendly in the daytime. Our food is always hot and fresh. The wings are massive and the pizza baked to perfection. This is our favorite place in yuba hands down.

Name one other decent restaurant in this town. Go ahead, I dare you. There’s also no better place to watch the big game and I’m a huge proponent of beer, wings, and sports. I’m actually inclined to give these guys a 5^th star simply because there’s no other good sports bar for miles.

Great, fun atmosphere! Awesome food. On busy nights the wait for food is a bit slower but when you get a HUGE plate of steak and carnitas nachos for $ 5, wings for $.55 each and $ 2 pint beers, who’s complaining? Lol. I recommend the Bruiser pizza on Wednesday nights for only $ 11.99. Marinated steak, blue cheese, and caramelized onions with a great barbecue sauce base. Yummmm!

The first time I went it was great! Good food, friendly service. It was a weekday during the day so I was also 1 of 3 people in the place.
The 2^nd time I went it was at night and super packed. They got my order wrong. They took 45min to correct it. The friend I was with already got her order and finished it by the time I got my order… which was burnt on top and undercooked in the middle. The manager came over twice to apologize and I didn’t get charged. That was nice because I ended up throwing the food away, it was inedible. (Not exaggerating… water was pouring out of it and it was a pizza!)
Good notes: The waitress was super nice and its not a bad place to get a beer!

Unless you’re going during happy hour get ready to shell out $ 4 more than normal for pretty much any beer. (Sierra Nevada is $ 9!!! The brewery is literally an hour away wtf) Pitchers aren’t any better. If you’re going for a bar dowers is way better if you’re going for the sports bar/​food atmosphere I guess it’s okay for Yuba city.
