If wanting to ride the famous Flume Trail, this is the spot to rent your mountain bikes! Not only is Spooner Summit Bike Rental affordable and conveniently located at the entrance of the trails, the employees are extremely energetic, helpful, and patient. They offer many different bikes that suit your size and riding style. Priced at $ 40-$ 60 each, a rental will come with a helmet, free water bottle, map, and free shuttle ride back to the start point. If you make reservations online with a group of 6 or more, each bike will receive a $ 5 discount. Standing at 5’8, I rented the Tanuki bike 17 inch($ 35). The bikes have professional gears at each handle that will make it difficult to use for any beginner, but with time, you’ll find the gears that suit your needs. I loved how they ensured everyone had the proper air pressure in their tires and water bottles before riding. The station also sells trail mix, biking clothes, drinks, and ice cream at a high price. Make reservations here: To park your car at the rental station, it’ll cost $ 10. Shuttle service at the end of the trail make pickups every hour, the last one being at 5PM. —– Conclusion: For those seeking to bike along Lake Tahoe and see the breathtaking views of Northern Nevada, rent your bikes here! Extra Notes –Accepts credit card for bike rentals, however, the parking permit is Cash Only –I would suggest to bring your own snacks and an additional bottle of water when going on the Flume Trail. –When you make your reservations online, a phonecall back will be made towards the weekend. –Don’t try calling during weekdays –The Flume Trail is NOT for beginners. Lol –Coming from Zephyr Cove resort, head north on 50 highway, make a left when you see the word Flume. Then bike rentals will shortly be on your right hand side. Might be hard to find because its covered by trees. –Restrooms within walking distance and could be cleaner

Excellent little bike rental shop inside the Spooner Lake State Park. Reasonable prices, friendly staff, brand new bikes, and an hourly shuttle! Just outside the shop you can access several biking trails, the Spooner Lake loop being the best short beginners ride and the Flume trail being the more advanced and longer option. Plentiful parking right outside the shop and the staff will give you a thorough breakdown of all the local trails. We even got free logo’d water bottles the day we went. Overall a great experience.

We have rented from Spooner Summit Bike Rentals several times. Although they don’t use the Flume Trail name, they are the best location to rent bikes at the Spooner Lake trailhead. They offer shuttle service hourly and great bikes.
