Studied at Sunway University and had to visit this place atleast once a week. It’s one of the best places to get tasty and cheap Chicken rice as well as great service. Note: Go early because they often run out of food by 1pm.

This place chicken damn sedap. They always have damn long queue but no worries because the owner man handles the chicken at an amazing speed so no need for long waiting time. But hope there will be air conditioning I’m the future because of the crowd and the hot weather during lunch time.

I am studying in Monash and only after four months, I found out about this place from my cousin who is studying in Sunway. It is within walking distance from Monash — not that far, about 8 – 10 minutes. This restaurant is extremely popular with students so it is almost always crowded during lunch hours(12 – 1:30ish). So getting a place to sit and eat might be a challenge. Well anyway, the chicken rice here is pretty good — I like their fried garlic bits(at least that’s what I think they are…). Generally nothing too spectacular or mind-blowing but what’s really awesome about this restaurant that it is super affordable! You can get a good satisfying meal for less than RM6−7. The cheapskate in me celebrates…

Probably well known to Sunway students, this place is within walking distance from Sunway University and is packed during lunch hours. Hot and stuffy with oily tables, this is definitely not the place to chit chat and date. However, this is the place to come for cheap and good chicken rice. For a normal plate of chicken rice, it’s only Rm4 which is a very student friendly price. I usually add rice which cost only 50 cents. Their soup is also really good and you can always add soup for free but they are usually quite busy to serve you. Drinks are about Rm1.50 for herbal tea. Quite a good place for a quick and cheap lunch.

Have you ever pay 4bucks for a roasted chicken rice in Klang Valley or in Kuala Lumpur? Obviously no right? This shop do exist for serving chicken rice that costs only rm4!!! This price lasted for at least 4 years until GST is introduced to most of the restaurants! However it’s still the cheapest, which costs rm4.50 now. I can say it taste quite good and mostly its cheap! Nowadays it’s hard to save money especially now with the presence of GST. As a student, I always try to spend economically on food, so that I can spend more on other things. This place particularly is the place where you can filled up your tummy satisfactorily while saving atleast 1 buck. Basically it’s most Sunway students favourite place to dine! Aside from the chicken rice and its price, there’s another stall in this shop that serves pan mee and pork noodles. It gained quite some popularity as it serve some of the scrumptious noodles that no one can refuse to try. Although this shop consists of all the good food, the drinks server is really terrible as it either serve drinks with unreasonable price or provides tasteless drinks. Plus, inside the shop is quite hot and humid especially during peak hours at 12pm. I would say pay less for less.

Students within the Sunway vicinity, particularly Sunway University will no doubt have made one too many visits to the this unassuming chicken rice shop. Many of my former Sunway University mates swear by its scrumptiousness and claim to have visited this restaurant almost on a daily basis during their Sunway days(we’re old now). When I finally paid visit, I wasn’t blown away by an explosion of flavor and rich textures of rice and chicken however I was blown away by its price. It was crazy cheap. I then proceeded to order a second serving with the works(char siew, chicken and siew yok). Being a cheapskate, it felt as if I had found my nirvana, it had been calling to me I was just too ignorant to pay heed. Jokes aside the food was good and for students trying to spend economically, it’s fantastic.
