Their service is really slow, but the food was worth the wait. I ordered a carbonara pasta and it was well done. The restaurant has a pretty good atmosphere as well. Kinda pricy, easily up to rm25−30/pax.

This«Kai Dan Zhai» is so close to the one I had it before in Hong Kong but with more customize variety here selling at a food stall named Eggette Lab in Asian Avenue at Sunway Pyramid. I was so delighted the first time I saw it and quickly grab my baby’s hand said«I want! I want!». With no regret we have ordered the original one and the charcoal with cheese flavor. Although the original is pretty authentic, but I’m falling in love with the charcoal with cheese. It’s taste a bit strong cheesy smell at first and it’s a bit weird combination, but eventually after few bites, I’m loving it! So crunchy, and aromatic. Mouth filled with the cheesy smell. Ever since that whenever I visit Asian Avenue, I will buy some as a snack to chew. But as it’s getting famous, I’m feeling lazy to wait for a long queue standing there especially during weekend. So guys, try to avoid buying it during peak period.

This place always give a nice delicious smell every time I go through Asian Avanue in Sunway Pyramid. When I looked at it, it’s just waffles… what’s with the long ques? So one day I decided to try it since I so happened to be in Sunway Pyramid in the afternoon. Haha, I got my waiting number. I only see this in banks or post office or Snowflakes. I ordered the ordinary eggette waffle, just to try and know what’s all the hyped about. Well, it’s not so bad actually. It does have the egg custard cream kind of taste to the waffle(you know those egg custard bun you eat at dim sum restaurant? Like that). The waffle is not too soft, it’s hardened and you can snap the pieces off easily and eat it by hand. This is quite a good snack to fill, but don’t expect this to be your dinner though. This shop is just at the entrance of the Asian Avenue old wing side. When you smell a delicious waffle, that’s the one you follow.

I’m a huge fan of gai dan zhai(eggette @ egg waffle). Ever since I visited Hong Kong and tried it once, I can’t stop thinking about it. One day when I went Chinese New Year shopping with my friend in Sunway Pyramid, I saw this stall in Asian Avenue with a lot of people standing around. Doesn’t know what it was selling at first, then my friend told me that these people are waiting for their gai dan zhai. The moment I heard that they are selling gai dan zhai I was thrilled with excitement! I asked my friend to go ahead with their shopping, I’ll get myself some gai dan zhai first! The queue for the gai dan zhai was super long(it was a Saturday, I guess that explains the long queue). I must say, in order to have the gai dan zhai, one must have patience. First, you have to get a number. When your number’s up, then only they will take your order. Waited for almost 45 minutes just to place my order. Initially, I wanted to buy one but since I’ve waited so long, I ordered two instead(one original flavor, another charcoal cheese). After ordering, there is another 10 minutes of waiting. I’ve waited for almost an hour just to have this gai dan zhai. The original flavor tasted almost similar to the one I’ve tasted back in Hong Kong. Although not exactly the same, but it is acceptable. The 55 minutes of wait was worth it. I am truly glad that I can now have my favorite gai dan zhai here in Sunway Pyramid and not hours of flight away.
