One word«fresh». This is the first place my husband and I went to when we arrived. And we’ve been coming back every day since. Their smoothies are with fresh organic fruits of the day and everything on the menu is made right there and then. We even bought groceries to take back with us. We definitely recommend this place.

Fantastic restaurant with good ambiance and great food! Their hot sauces are homemade and amazing! Definitely a great place for brunch if you are in Vieques.

My fiancée and I stopped in here for breakfast before the ferry back to Fajardo after finding most places still closed at 9 am(really?!). Boy, did we get lucky! Awesome omelet and breakfast burrito, great coffee(with a shot of Jamison for those inclined), and good conversation at the counter with a local ex-pat, the person working the counter, and the couple who owns the restaurant where we had a fabulous dinner the night before(Coqui Fire Café)!(What better endorsement can you get than the chef of our best meal, sitting down to breakfast right next to us?) Has a nice little market, limited(but sufficient) seating, and very close to the ferry. They also sell the amazing made-in-house hot sauces from said restaurant — pick up a few! We’ll be back on our next trip to Vieques.

Checked this place out on vacation, and ended up going back twice for the coffee alone. It is more expensive than other places in Vieques and definitely caters to ex-pats and tourists, so it’s not the most«authentic» restaurant to be sure, but the iced coffee was strong and tasty in a way that it is not at more local PR restaurants(in my admittedly limited experience). We also tried the breakfast burrito, which was enormous and tasty, and the omelet with homemade sausage and a variety of great hot sauces. All of the ex-pats sitting around the bar were very friendly(and a little strange, but I guess that’s just ex-pats for you). The lox plate looked fantastic and was heaping full of tasty smoked salmon, so I would definitely try that if we ever make it back!

We stopped in here on the recommendation of our hosts to get some deli townships during our stay. It was late lunch time and while we were picking up our food to cook I thought I would order a sand which«to go». I realize everyone is on island time here… but 20 minutes later they haven’t even started making my sandwich. And they didn’t appear to be that busy. When I asked the guy if he was making my sandwich he said yes, but I have 4 sandwiches to make before yours. Out of the four he made one that was literally mozzarella and pesto. We cancelled the order and walked on to the next place. The steaks we purchased were nice but we likely will not go back.

This is a «one experience review», and it contrasts dramatically with the majority of other reviewers. But since my motto is to «be direct», here goes: Based on the look of the place online and the reviews, I expected it to be a 5 star review. My experience reduced it to 2 stars. We stopped by for espresso, everyone raved about their coffee and espresso. Sitting at the bar where all the drinks are made, I figured the espresso would be great, as they used illy coffee pods, so how could it be bad? Ordered a double, watched it being made. I think Kelley, our energetic barista, doubled the water and used a single pod. It was weak. And luke warm. Lost 1 star. Watched Kelley make iced coffees, spilling coffee on the area where she worked, wiping it up with the same dripping wet rag she used to wipe down the side of the glasses in which she over-poured the coffee. Sorry, that’s gross and another star lost. Figured we would try a breakfast burrito as someone else was having it and looked great. It was, at best, mediocre. The«salsa» served on the side was only finely chopped tomatoes which lacked flavor and any zest. The burrito was stuffed with tasteless black beans. Sorry, this is Vieques. Puerto Rico. Where’s the flavor, folks? Lost another star. While we were there, 3 different(apparently local North American seasonal residents) placed orders for a bagel lox and cream cheese. It seems to be popular with the non Vieques crowd who frequent Buen Provecho, and others have written about it in their reviews. I don’t know if it’s great, let’s assume it is, but frankly, I don’t come to Vieques to eat a bagel lox and cream cheese. To each their own. I got the impression this was a place for the tourists who feel more comfortable with the specialty foods they sell at exceedingly high prices, and the North American residents of Vieques who like to sit around the bar/counter and talk with others like themselves and chisme about whatever is going on. It had a certain clique feel about it. It serves a purpose, I’m sure of that, but if you’re a tourist, I’d recommend you go elsewhere(eg, local color, folks), and strongly recommend they figure out how to make a double espresso in an Illy machine using a Illy pod the right way. And get rid of that filthy dripping rag used to wipe up everything. It’s disgusting.

Friendly staff, delicious food! We stopped in after a morning hike and it really hit the spot. Extraordinary Joe and cold pressed coffee were great. My fiancé had the omelette and I the breakfast burrito — perfect portion and hearty! Great atmosphere and conversation. Start your day off right at this charming shop!

Precios carísimos. $ 4 por un café servido en vaso, sin diseño o sea nada espectacular. No dan buena atención. Ni siquiera te hablan español en un país hispano y el lugar tiene mal olor.

So, it isn’t really that easy to find a simple breakfast/brunch coffee joint on Vieques. Buen Provecho definitely hits the spot. The coffee is good, the food is good, the ambiance is casual and relaxed. The waitress was a bit of a Debby Downer(«you want coffee? Oh, I guess I’ll have to make another pot, then… wahhhhh, wahhhhhhhhhhh), but she did recommend a guest house for our last night before leaving, and it turned out great. Simply put, this place probably becomes more awesome the longer you are away from mainstream society. If you are on a short vacation, you will find it normal and adequate, which is wonderful in its own way.
