I come here only for one thing: Dark Chocolate chip Cookies with walnuts. The breads are also tasty… But the cookies are just amazingly delicious. Its surely a tastebud pleaser for those with a sweet tooth!

I love the Eric keyser in Paris which has the cheese batardsnvwhicn are to die for. The hk branch is another experience. Although croissant were light texture they did not taste fresh or made on premise. Please fix your flavour of your croissants olds

I always have to stop by MEK every time I visit Hong Kong. I honestly have not tried other bakeries in the area, but why should I have to when all their pastries and sandwhiches do the job just perfectly? The bread is a common favorite, but what really sells me are the cookies and muffins. Especially the white chocolate macadamias and cranberry orange. My weaknesses. I’ve always had good experiences here; great service, quality goods, etc. Highly recommend.

I will keep my flat, to stay close to this bakery. Heavily obsessed with all pastry from this corner. Weekly sour dough. Sometimes I got a whole. Use it for sandwich, toast, or snack.(also got some hummus from mark&spenser!) tips are they are also sold for half. Good if it is just for yourself. And I always ask them to slice for me. My favourite is olive ciabatta. One thing I got addicted from Paris. I was used to olive bread stick, similar to mini baguette. Crispy skin, roasted olive, soft ciabatta, great flower. Best hit ever in the bakery scene here. They serve great focaccia as well. Fig bread is another amazing creature. Though neighbour bakery Levain in PMQ also has their fig bread version. Dried fruit, naturally sugary, and springy, perfect texture. And the French country dough, Tourte de Meule is one of the signature. They cut it for two months just because the shortage of flour from France. Seasonal dessert like bread pudding is just heaven.

Éric Kayser is kind of a big name in bakery in France. So when they first started on Caine Road, I got my hopes up to make this my go-to breakfast place. It didn’t happen. I was there on one of the first few weekends since they opened. Just wanted to get some brekkie and coffee to go. It’s probably the busiest time of the week for them, as other customers had already been queuing for awhile. Staff were not experienced enough to handle the number of orders, as I saw them mixing orders in the 25mins of time I waited. Yes, it took me 25mins. And some people ordered after me got their food done and delivered first. Meanwhile, a lady who dined in complained to the staff about her coffee. I didn’t have a good feeling about it, and I was right — the latte I ordered tasted the same as the cappuccino my friend ordered, which both tasted watery. The breakfast set was meh, and packaged in the most unappealing way(could have been better if it’s not takeaway). I did come back for the cheese and steak sandwich for a few times, which was so good that definitely added back a star to the shop. I didn’t have a chance to try the breads yet, and I was too traumatized to try the coffee again. But I don’t mind coming back for sandwiches or burgers, albeit it’s still on the pricier end of lunch options around Mid-Levels.

I was cooking burgers for the family lunch on Saturday so I figured I’d go all out and hit up my main man Eric for some artisan buns. I say that as if I know him, but his name is just synonymous with his boulangerie. I have a habit of walking into places and coming out with more than I intended(the Pedder Warehouse is my kryptonite), and this bakery in mid-levels was no exception. I got enough burger buns to feed an army, for $ 15 a pop. My family were very impressed with the poppy seed buns, as they didn’t collapse under the immensity of the patty, beef juices, and toppings. They also looked absolutely brilliant. Like your quintessential burger, puffed out and gleaming with poppy freckles. «Pick me up and eat me» they whispered. And we did. I also picked up a croque salmon for lunch(like a croque monsieur, except with salmon and what I think was a tartar sauce for filling). It was $ 88 which I thought was extortionate, but I was absolutely stuffed by the thing. It is loaded with a rich, cooked salmon filling, and the toast has a decadent cheese crust on top with herbs. One of these and you’re good for the rest of the day.

If you could wake up to the smell of anything in the world, what would it be for you? Many would say coffee and, to some extent the brewing of good old coffee aroma would penetrate my subconscious whilst i’m(hopefully amazingly) dreaming and jolt me up from bed as well. What if it was something you can eat? For me, there is nothing I like more than the smell of freshly baked, out of the oven, Croissants! The creaminess and butteriness of a croissant just perfectly satiates my palette. What’s amazing about this pastry is that it is so simple yet so delicious. Down the street from me, is my favourite bakery. The Eric Kayser Artisan Boulanger. Not only do they have the BEST croissants, they carry freshly baked cookies, scones, loafs of bread and beautifully little dessert cakes. I once even enjoyed an Eric Kayser burger which they recommended. While the burger was great, this place is deemed my go-to spot for breads and croissants. Walking in, is a little store, like your normal bakery in Hong Kong. People are reading newspapers, or enjoying their cup of coffee with a scone right before they head to work or getting a quick snack fix. Along the sides are tables and chairs for people to hang out and recharge. Usually they have lunch special sets. A salad, with an entrée and a desert. After eating, I would pick out my delicious carbohydrates i need for the week and off I go. Also a great place to get loaves of bread if you’re entertaining and need finger foods or little pastries for your guests as hordourves. If you’re in the neighbourhood and would like to try some nice croissants to go along with your morning coffee, definitely try Eric Kayser Artisan Boulanger.

Maison Eric Kayser is a French artisan bakery with four stores across Hong Kong. They sell loads of yummy baked goods, such as bread, pastries, cakes, and sandwiches. They also serve a small section of cooked foods in store, such as breakfast, and salads. What I like the most in Maison Eric Kayser, is the bread. Unlike the bread that you can buy in Wellcome or PnS, this bread is baked according to a traditional French recipe, which means it just tastes a little bit more like home to me. My particular favourites include the monge bread, which has a wonderful crisp exterior with a light fluffy interior, and the cheese rolls, which have chunks of cheese inside, as well as melted on top. If you have a sweet tooth, I would thoroughly recommend the eclairs, but they are quite pricey, so make sure you had plenty of money on your Octopus card. I also like the financiers, which combine a nice hearty sponge with great flavour. With this store based just underneath the escalator on Caine Road, it’s very easy to pop in on your way home. I also like to indulge in a little Saturday afternoon tea-time treat, and this is by far the best place in the Mid-Levels.
