Since CEX moved over the road from its former location, there is a lot more space; its easily about four times the size. However, I don’t know whether it’s because of the size or just the market, but there just doesn’t seem to be as much stock as before. There is a large ‘selection’ for films, games and another screened part for all the electronics. I do like the way the films are laid out so you can see what there is more easier, as opposed to having to tilt your head continuously to read the titles. Also, if you’re like me, and you go by price, its much easier to see that too! As with most CEX stores, the stock changes regularly but always has the latest releases and some of the old classics. There is a blu-ray section but it’s not as large as it should be, but I don’t think everyone’s got blu-ray players yet(such as myself). The staff are helpful and willing to dig things out for you should you not be able to find something. The queue can take some time to get through, but this branch has introduced a ‘selling’ line and a ‘buying’ line so it can go quite quickly at times. Generally, I like the new store and layout, but some updated stock would be nice.

As part of our big Bank Holiday clearout, I finally decided to get rid of my DS Lite and several games I had accumulated over the years(this was mainly down to receiving a 2DS for my birthday in March). I did the cursory look online to see how much I could get for trading it in and the best price by miles was offered by CeX. Now, I am not a huge gamer and don’t have several consoles and games lying around at home, so as such, I had never had reason to visit this CeX before. I had popped in to it’s previous incarnation in Priory Square shopping centre(as their box set selection was pretty darn good), but hadn’t been to this much larger, brighter store. The unit has been a Model Zone and much further back, a Music Zone(remember that?) and is a big space sunken from street level. There is a big selection of DVD’s and CD’s, but the main focus is the games and the tech at this branch. On my visit, the first stop was the trade-in desk. The games were scanned and I was given a good price for them second hand(turns out, cartridge games are pretty much always worth a few bob). For my DS, this had to be tested before they would accept it. Fair enough, I thought and toddled off to do my weekly shop before heading back to store to find out if they had accepted it(this took around 45 minutes). Everything was a go and I got around £20(that’s trade-in price only) for my old White DS Unit. Now, that doesn’t sound like a lot… but considering that some online retailers were quoting me £4 — £9 for it, I thought this was a significant improvement. The service was swift and friendly — especially when I had chosen a RPG game for my 2DS and(as it turns out) you can’t play imported games on a UK Model *shakes fist at the sky*. They took the game and tried it out in one of the units they had in store just to check before they sold it — saving me the hassle of getting it home, trying it and then having to return it. I didn’t end up picking up anything to play that day, but will keep popping in to see what’s been delivered. Again, the store is large with a good selection of games and the staff are friendly and helpful. What’s not to like?

A store that is hidden away unfortunatly, and unless you know its there, you wouldnt pass it. you can sell/trade in consoles, cameras, mobile phones, computer games at reasonable prices these can also be found for sale. you dont get much cash for items you take in, so its usually better to trade items in. the music is played loudly and that can be a bit of a pain, and the queues can be a bit horrendous.

This store can be found in the underpass. Great place for trading in your old games and dvds to get new ones. Recently had a clearout of old DS games that are no longer played and ended up getting enough in vocuhers to get a new DS lite which was something that was wanted for a while! If you choose to get cash you drop a lot in value so it is better to trade in for other things in store. They also have phones and consoles

Huge store with a massive selection and wide range of console and pc games and DVD’s. Unrivaled trade in prices, and very knowledgable and patient staff. However, they play very loud music at all times, which can make it difficult to hold a convesation there or ask questions.
