S A Deveson

Fabulous little greengrocers/​delicatessen in Rottingdean. I stumbled on it by accident the other day and couldn’t resist stocking up on lots of the beautiful fruit and veg that was piled up outside.
Inside, there were a great selection of quality products such as cheese, biscuits, jams, chutneys… many of which were locally produced.
They also stock the infamous «Ladies» tea — this will save Josephine B having to ship a container-​load down to Brighton for me!
Definitely a place to visit whenever I’m passing through Rottingdean.

Due to me eating either a cheeseburger or fish and chips on a daily basis, I figure that I must balance it with a healthy dose of fruits and vegetables. I’m not the best when it comes to picking the ripest fruit, but that point is moot when you go to a greengrocers where all they have in stock is fresh fruit, all ripe, and ready to be eaten as soon as you get home.
This S A Deveson’s is always busy, and for good reason. The produce they have in stock is of superb quality. I know this because I overheard a conversation between two older ladies where one said to the other, «Ooh, look at the kiwi.» And the other one responded, «Yeah, it’s all superb quality here.» And they looked to be two women who know what they’re talking about. So if you don’t take my word for it, then take theirs as well. This is a greengrocers where everything is of superb quality.
The kiwi is delicious, by the way.
