decently spacious area compared to the other café gusto cafes. The coffee is good and a wide range of refreshments and sandwiches are available. Always a plus.

Used frequently over the last couple of days. Good coffee and plenty of choice for sandwiches. The Breakfast doorstep being a good kick start.

Café Gusto is one of the cafes situated along St Michaels Hill that I have been to on a few occasions, it’s literally a stones throw away from where I live so it’s a good shout for when I’m bored and want to meet up with a friend for a coffee. I definitely rate the coffee they serve here pretty well, there are too many places that don’t serve good coffee so when I find one that does I tend to return here! This café serves everything you would expect a café to, including cakes, light lunches, refreshments, snacks etc… I would personally recommend their jacket potatoes, they are huge and really good value if you just want to grab a cheap lunch! The café itself is pretty tiny, and there’s only limited seating — but if you can’t find somewhere to sit they you can take your food away I guess. In the summer months when it’s a bit warmer then sit out in their garden area and soak in the rays! I am a fan of this little place, and I’d recommend it to anyone who wants somewhere new to go for a cheap lunch or a good coffee.

It is hard to recommend café Gusto over the plethora of superior coffee houses/lunch establishemts. The reasons are numerous: a.) The tables were coated in a seal of what can only be described as a horrific mix of bacon fat and sand. b.) The sandwiches are far too expensive. A plain old ham sandwich for 2.40! really? c.) The general quality of the food is lacking, particularly with regards to freshness. d.) The staff are robotic and charmless. I would suggest going to a different locally run establishment, or even a better quality chain like prêt a manger. Actually, you might as well make your own lunch.

I have a real problem with the Gusto’s that litter, Bristols better trodden streets. They are too overpriced for what you get. If you go in for a sandwich and a drink, what you get nothing particularly special yet it is going to set you back more than a fiver. The interiors are always overcrowded with tables that are too small to put anything on, and the chairs are never very comfortable. This one is no exception to the rule, you can be sure that you will leave slightly unsatisfied, and wishing you had gone somewhere else for your lunch.

Bristol Caffe Gusto seems to be spreading round Bristol faster than wildfire. Not that that’s a problem, as Caffe Gusto is a relatively good example of the lunchtime sandwich shop/cafes strategically situated round town. The sandwiches are fine(if, as usual, overpriced and made with relatively bland ingredients), the cakes acceptable and the coffee good. The St Michaels haunt in particular got me through many a library session while at university, and is the sandwich shop of choice for bored arts students.

Although it’s rather overpriced and can be frenetic at lunch times, this place has charm nonetheless. Located in a vibrant area of Bristol, heavily populated by University of Bristol students and sophisticated Park Street shoppers, Caffe Gusto is a great place to take a coffee break and observe the hustle and bustle of city life. From the upstairs seating area, you are treated to a grand view of the classic grounds of University of Bristol and the busy streets adjoining Park Street. Here you will find a generous selection of sandwiches, baguettes and paninis(if you’re anything like me, it’ll take you a lifetime to choose), in addition to an array of pasties. If you decide to eat in, I’d suggest you come here outside lunchtime hours for a more peaceful experience.

Café Gusto seems to be a bit of Bristol thing, dotted around the city. They have a bit of a Subway-esque ‘build yer own’ sarnie with the ingredients in the counter. Therefore, if you don’t like the sandwiches, it’s probably your own fault for choosing the wrong filling! Their coffee is good too. Set opposite uni, it is perfect for the students to get a bit of a pick me up, as well as people of Park Street shopping excursions.

I always love a good coffee, a double espresso is my usual pick me up, and Caffe Gusto’s coffee beans are always a delight on the taste buds. I also have an unfortunate weakness for paninis; these are delicious too! This Caffe Gusto is on the main drag up St Mike’s hill, just around the corner form the university library, sports and science buildings, so is best avoided at lunchtime when the students pile in in their droves. Instead, come chill out on a sunny morning and watch Bristol go by.

I’m not normally a huge fan of chain coffee shops, but Gusto seems a little different somehow. This one in particular I like, mainly because the coffee is good! They have a good range of sandwiches, salads, and paninis — the first two of which they make fresh to your liking, and the latter of which are freshly makde that morning. They also have a good range of cakes and pastries to go with the good coffee. They also make some great smoothies — they take a little while but are worth the wait. Like all coffee shops its a little over priced, but you know that before you even walk through the door. And this venue is a nice little hide away although is often crammed with students during weekday lunchtimes.

I don’t normally frequent coffee chains as prefer to support independents, but this is a local chain so that’s not so bad! Great coffee, and nice atmosphere too.“

This is a great alternative coffee house. It is a local chain and there are cafes next to the Clifton Down shopping centre, opposite the Hippodrome, and near the University. It is a local chain, and does amazing drinks and sandwiches(not to mention the cake). I’d recommend the vanilla smoothie. It has the usual prices for coffee houses, but has a great range, and usually really nice staff. Great to support a local too!
