The Embassy café is part of the Cathays Community Centre. This little café doesn’t get that busy and when it does, it is normally with students from the surrounding Cathays and Roath areas. I personally never realized this was here until a friend of mine introduced me to it. It doesn’t look like a café from the outside and once you venture inside, you realize that there is a cute little café hiding. They don’t really have set menus for food here, it is all pretty much what they decide to do on the day, or what they have left. They normally have an assortment of sandwiches but if you want hot food, it will be very hit and miss as to what they will have and mostly will be vegetarian. This café has a lovely community feel to it, the staff are really friendly and happy to take your money once you have finished your food rather than pay outright. I’m really glad I have discovered this little gem, it makes such a change from the mass of chains we are indulged with these days.

Based at the Cathays Community Centre, this small friendly café serves tasty and varied home made vegetarian meals and cakes. There’s a different main meal and soup to choose from each day, along with around half a dozen yummy cakes and there’s also filled bagels. Mains cost around £4.50. All the coffee is fairtrade and costs between £1-£1.20 for a mug.
