This place had a change in management, or maybe just kitchen staff, not too long ago in any case, the improvement since then is significant. The 6 – 8 weeknight deal(burger, pizza etc. plus a pint or glass of wine, currently £9) used to be perfectly acceptable, inexpensive pub food. Now it’s really good pub food not gastropub good food, but not far off, and without all the affectations and pretension. Both the pizzas and burgers are huge, hand made, and tasty. For £9 with a drink included, you can’t go wrong. Staff and service are great, nice relaxed atmosphere, and the extensive collection of odd knickknacks adorning every available surface is strangely entertaining. Great mid-week treat for when you can’t be bothered to cook.

If you want proper home-made food then this is one of the best places to go(none of that processed, microwaved rubbish). You can eat downstairs in the bar or upstairs in the restaurant(at weekends). It has a cosy atmosphere with candles and solid wood tables. The walls and ceiling are covered in pub antiquities and even board games are supplied. The prices are very reasonable and the portions well sized.

Nice restaurant which does good food at good prices. There is a very relaxed atmosphere here and its the sort of place you could sit and spend a couple of hours playing cards quite happily. They have quite a few board games for customers to use as well as books which you can read if you’re bored.

Old Timers does a Pizza and a Pint deal for about £7 between 6pm and 8pm weekdays(including Fridays) which is pretty decent. I recommend the Hot and Spicy Pizza with a pint of Carlsberg Cold.
