Armstrong’s is a fairly lively little bar with an unusual layout and a loyal band of regulars. Its main draw is its mass of pool tables at the back, which attract both students(from Langside College across the road) and rather strange looking groups of men intent on letting everyone know what a good time they are having(by which I mean they are loud and scary looking). If you’re looking for a quick, cheap drink, Armstrong’s is as good a place as any. There’s a beer garden at the back which is surprisingly nice, although is largely intended as a respite from the smoking ban.

This whole area, from the Victoria Infirmary to Mount Florida, and all the way up to Clarkston, is oddly very lacking in pubs. They’re are hardly any about at all, which means that even the very average ones are usually quite busy. Armstrongs is one such place, even on weeknights it’s seldom quiet. At times it seems to attract a slightly rougher crowd than that lives in the surrounding area, but it’s not exactly mental. Decent drinks places and loads of pool tables make it a viable option in an area well deprived of boozers.
