I popped in here to have a look today, after my Costa coffee. Not been here in years. Still floors of clothes for good prices.

I love Dunnes Stores and have been going there for a few years now. With High Streets churning out some really tacky and«you seriously call this fashion» clothing, I have found Dunnes to provide some really nice clothes. I saw a tea dress just before Christmas and I had my heart set on it. I thought I would check out the January sales and see if it had made the sale rack. Alas the dress didn’t make it and found the sales to be pretty poor. It mostly contained, what I would call«Christmas tat» so Christmas decorations etc. I’ll look aside Dunnes this one time as the dress was really pretty. So I tried on and it fitted prefectly so I zoomed to that check out, chipped, pinned and payed. I did also notice a gorgeous red coat, similar to one I saw in Debenhams. It was much much cheaper and I’d have to say Dunnes was of better quality too. I’ll just need to save but for now I have a lovely tea dress which made its debut on Hogmanay and I felt fabulous. Thanks Dunnes!

I’m a big fan of Dunnes Stores after I first encountered them in Ireland. I’ve been to this one in Glasgow a few times, most recently being the other day. I never seem to have enough time to browse; I was only in there an hour but could have spent much longer! There are some great departments to explore I like going there for the clothes bargains, especially in coats and casual wear. However, I bought some luggage there last Wednesday as there were some particularly good discounts. The lady who served me was extremely nice. Can’t wait to go there when I have more time who knows what I might find!

Dunnes is fast becoming one of my favourite places to bag a bargain. Although it’s usually hit or miss, with some items of clothing being overly expensive, but the bargains sure do make up for it. Have a gander through the sale rails on the ground floor and first floor, where my recent finds have included checked shirts for £3 and pretty Topshop-style dresses for only £6! Most of the staff here don’t seem too happy to help and make me wonder why or how they managed to get the job there in the first place, huffing and puffing like Kevin the teenager, should you dare to ask for an alternative size. Other bargains from Dunnes have included whisky glasses for 50p each, from their surprisingly large home section. You can pick up towels, candles, mirrors and clocks, among other bits and bobs in the homeware section. Overall, Dunnes is a great shop, spanning four floors of fashion that pack a punch at their pricey competitors. I highly recommend popping in for a rummage through the rails to be amazed at the offerings of chic on the cheap.

When I first went on one of my now frequent shopping trips to Dublin I was told that I must visit Dunnes. According to those who had been and those who lived there it was the Marks and Spencers of Ireland(though they did have M&S there too). Indeed I was impressed with their stores which offered an alternative to M&S and something that people at home wouldn’t know of. When I heard that a Dunnes was opening in Glasgow then, I had mixed feelings. I was delighted that I wouldn’t have to travel to Dubln to see what was on offer but then I didn’t want the rest of Glasgow to turn this little Irish gem into a run-of-the-mill bogstandard shop that everyone went to. Neither of these really happened though. Although I like this Dunnes and it has a good selection of clothes(there is a range for us younger ladies), it’s just not like the Irish Dunnes. It somehow seems to have automatically become a bit less exclusive the minute it set foot in Glasgow — no-one here would ever categorize it with M&S. My fear of it becoming a standard shop didn’t materialise either. For some reason, it’s just hasnt reached the same level of popularity as it has in Ireland. This is perhaps a blessing as when you do find a pretty top here or a gorgeous pair of blue and purple shoes(my best buy ever!) you can be sure you won’t turn up wearing the same outfit as your friend but I do wish, for its sake, people would realize just how good this shop is. I’d urge you to give it a shot(but don’t buy the same shoes as me).
