This is one of the city centre Wetherspoon pubs which seems to have a different personality at different times of day, at lunchtime weekdays I would avoid it as it is really busy with office workers, but after 6 o clock or so it seems like many other people in the city forget it exists, so it is good for a quiet drink on a weekday. It tends to have a more«adult» clientelle than other similar pubs for some reason, very few family diners on the whole when I have visited. The décor of the pub is pleasant, and the range of food and drinks available is similar to other Wetherspoons(and affordable, much cheaper than many city centre pubs). There are a mixture of high tables, comfy booths and smaller tables, so it’s good for a group night out or a lazy hour reading the paper and relaxing in a comfy chair with a coffee.

Ross has been amazing. He has constantly been asking if we are ok. Or if we need anything. His customer service is outstanding! Very attentive and hands on. He hasn’t stopped all the time we have been here. I work in retail and would gladly offer him a job if I spotted him in Manchester. I hope that he gets acknowledgement and recognition for his commitment to his job.

A solid four star review for the Edward G. Wylie. Great location, a stunning Victorian building in the heart of the financial district, great selection of whisky and bourbon and the bar, not bad food, and reasonable waitstaff which is a lot more than can be said for the Camperdown Place up on West George Street, where one of the most door-faced looking cunts works at the bar, and that was our intended location for the evening until I suggested the Wylie. Myself and my best friend, fellow high rolling banker and fellow food critic, Tomas rolled up to the Wylie on a quietist Wednesday evening in our sharp a fuck business suits as we’re a coupe of successful investment bankers, and I felt that being sharply dressed will give you a slight upper hand with the waitstaff in this place if you know what I mean. Anyway we headed in and the first thing I noticed about this places is the size of the main concourse! It’s rather fucking big as far as wetherspoons go, or maybe I just get that feeling as I am and always have been a midget homosexual w/a purple beard. We decided to sit near the back corner on the sofas in front of a rather boring shelve of books(these books are so boring that stealing them wouldn’t even cross ones mind) and we then had a gander at the classic one page weatherspoon menus we decided on what we would order and I went for the cheeseburger, garnished with lettuce and served with fries, Tomas opted for the chicken burger with pulled pork, serviced with fries and onion rings. So in true weatherspoons fashion we headed for the bar to place our order and also get some refreshments, however I was slightly disappointed to discover that the Wylie does not serve Coco-Cola but in stead it’s lesser and inferior cousin, Pepsi. This is partly the reason for the 4⁄5 star rating. Though the price of their shitty Pepsi is very reasonable £1.99 for a large glass is far from robbery. So in not too long of a wait our food was brought to us by, surprise surprise, another gay waiter and naturally we hit it off right away. At first glance both of our dishes looked good and I’ll admit mine tasted fine, everything I needed, however it was clear that Tomas had drawn the metaphorical short straw in this instance as the chicken on his burger was extremely dense and dry(so much so that the bun gave way) and I’m afraid this is what cost the Wylie that 5th star. The chips were satisfying, classic weatherspoons pub chips, no more no less. When we fished we headed to the bar for some post dinner refreshments, Tomas had a pint of their finest coors lights and I, being the badass little midget fucker that I am, order a double measure of wild turkey which is 101 percent proof! Yeah! In conclusion I’d throughly recommend the Edward G. Wylie to all my high rolling friends in the finance industry, the only ironic thing is even though I’m a ‘high’ roller, I’m quite literally a midget ass with a black heart, filthy little Satan mouth and noting but cruel intentions.

I’ve lived across the road from this pub for 3 years and I’ve been in it about 3 times. That says it all. There are better pubs in this town, and I don’t have to walk far to find them. It’s a Wetherspoons, and there’s nothing wrong with that, in fact this is one of the better ones. And like all Wetherspoons they do cheap drinks and cheap food. Okay the food won’t blow your mind, and I hear it’s mostly microwaved, but if you want something to blow your mind then don’t come here. Simple as that. If you’re just looking for a bite to eat that will leave you satisfied, or to get tanked on a budget then in here will do the job.

In typical Wetherspoons fashion the Edward Wylie lacks any particular atmosphere, though makes up for it with ample, comfy seating, cheap drinks(house wine £6.09/posh G&T £2.55/guest ale £1.70!), and plenty of natural light. Situated in the heart of the business district it can go from empty to heaving in the space of one G&T, and the ample seating can make it a bit of a labyrinth to navigate if you’re going to the loo. I’m not a fan of Wetherspoons food, but there’s an extensive pub menu if you’re in straight after work

Went on Tuesday for Steak Night. Ended up getting a refund and leaving after one mouthful of food. The steaks were orange! They were covered in some sort of rub or marinade, which three separate members of staff(including the bar manager and the kitchen manager) tried to assure me is ‘how they’ve been done for around two years now’. After I informed the manager that Mr M and I were regulars there and especially on Steak Night, and had been for around two years now and this was the first time we had EVER had a hot, spicy orange steak we were EVENTUALLY offered a replacement meal. We declined this offer, got a refund and left. I know one of the other managers of this bar personally(he wasn’t there) so I asked him, and he confirms that yes, they do use that seasoning combo, but no, it shouldn’t be hot and spicy and turn the meat orange. Someone somewhere screwed up and instead of instantly apologising and offering a replacement we were fobbed off by the same repeated word for word rubbish. HAs dented my liking of this particular Wetherspoons!

I popped in here for a quick pint with my chums, it’s a standard weather spoons and it’s fine, it does what it says on the tin. It’s on the edge of the office district so gets quite busy at lunch time and month end etc etc. the service was quick and polite and the place was tidy and well attended to. I would pop in again but there are other places I would visit first but that’s just my preference :-) All in all it’s great for steak night and curry night and you get a half decent burger and a pint for a great price so you can’t complain. I’ll be popping in again if my friends are in here

A game of two halves! Thanks for the wonderful staff for helping me access the loos(in a wheelchair) as the disabled loo was out of order(previous someone had broken the lock…) Good size and on the flat so manageable in a wheelchair(big, big, important point for me) Tables could be cleared more often and wiped down after food was served. When we got there everywhere was covered in dirty glasses and stickiness. Although, to be fair, the place was going like a fair on a Friday evening. Cheap booze and drinkable plonk, so nothing to complain about there except the next day’s hangover…

All hail Office Land’s one true home of the cheeky pub lunch! Edward Wylie has all the hallmarks of the many Glasgow Wetherspoons, and yet manages to be a breed apart. How? I’m not entirely sure! The food is the same… the alcohol selection is the same, if slightly cheaper… Perhaps it is the company? Or that the staff are always so nice? Or that I can drape myself across a comfy booth or couch or super-sinky chair as I have a swally? Tis an enigma! Regardless, this is one of my favourite places to haunt with colleagues after being released from the shackles of civil servitude. Unlike the other Wetherspoons, you don’t feel the need to escape after the first few drinks because of the utter vacuum of atmosphere. You feel you can just relax and have a laugh here, and you can actually have a conversation without being drowned out by a raucus din of shouting and want not. And on occasion I have been known to wander in and have a quiet drink on a Sunday afternoon, and perhaps a nice roast — the veggie option is especially nice. As it’s a Sunday in Office Land, which is off the beaten track for most other cityfolk, it’s often a VERY quiet drink. ^^ If ever you’re in Office Land, pop in and try it. With a beer and burger at a fiver, you really can’t go wrong!

Probably the best Wetherspoons pub in Glasgow(it’s not in such a popular area which might mean it has to try harder…) as it has nice staff, a lovely seating area with leather sofa and a library of books to read. Real Ale, £2.95 fish and chips(with tea or coffee) weekdays, curry club on Thursdays makes this and most other Wetherspoons a must-visit for a cheap day out!

The Edward Wylie is yet another one of the Wetherspoons-owned bars in Glasgow City Centre and to be honest, I am a fan of all Wetherspoons in general. They all have relatively cheap drinks and food, they are large and have the same layout and nice, comfortable décor. So what is so different about this one? Not a lot really, but there are some important distinctions about the Edward Wylie. Firstly it is probably the one in Glasgow which attracts the most of the ‘office worker’ types, as it is located in the middle of the financial district of the city, where all you see is big grey office buildings. This probably makes up most of the clientele — particularly during the day — but there is also the usual younger crowd in abundance. Food-wise, excellent. I’ve always found the Wetherspoons food tasty, with great choice and excellent value for money. But my meal arrived quicker here than in any other Wetherspoons, or any pub at all for that matter, in the city. It took little more than five minutes — superb! And it was a delicious barbeque chicken melt, with a huge helping of chips and peas plus a mushroom — all perfectly cooked through. I’ve never seen this place particularly busy, though this is probably desirable most of the time considering one is often on the look out for a table seat. There are plenty of table seats — with tall stools, sofas and booth-style arrangements. It is also one of the biggest ‘Spoons I have been in. There are several TV screens too, which show live sport(Sky Sports News provided a decent bit of distraction on my last visit, especially so with the lovely Georgie Thompson presenting). Overall it’s hard to fault this particular Wetherspoons. It’s slightly out of the way for anyone on a night out in the city centre and is more popular with suits than young clubbers, but hey, you would expect that to be honest.

Nice Wetherspoon’s pub, spacious and did not seem to be too busy. The staff were friednly and the service was also quick, prices were also good but as it’s a Wetherspoon this goes without saying.
