Food is good as it is with every Bagelman! A little overpriced however. And this store particularly I always feel uncomfortable going in like I am an inconvenience, and I am never made feel welcome.

Bagelman is real. I stood next to him as he clapped and danced. True story. I know bagels are terribly unhealthy. But when they are as warm, soft and chewy as a Bagelman this becomes irrelevant. So many fillings. A variety of flavoured bagels. You will love it. Bless these doughy polos.

Bagelman is fast becoming a Brighton institution! Delicious, freshly-baked New York style bagels with an array of tasty fillings on offer. It’s alway busy if you go around lunch-time, sometimes with the queues going out of the door! I’d be hard pushed to pick a favourite bagel from there, I’m trying to make my way through them all! They have different ‘specials’ on offer each day, as well as a Monday to Friday offer where you can buy certain bagels for just £2! Bargain if you ask me! There are now 4 Bagelman branches around Brighton and Hove. If you visit them all and get a card stamped, you get a free bagel! That’s enough of an excuse for me !!

Fantastic American style bagels with fresh ingredients and really reasonable prices. Loved my «veggie feast» bagel and the«sunrise» omelette bagel I had the next morning.

All I can say is that the bagels… they are not the type of bagels I am used to. Perhaps it works for people here, but if you are looking for an authentic bagel and schmear place, this is not it. That said, if you aren’t craving the NYC/Montréal bagel, and want a more doughy baked version with eggs or as a sandwich, bagel man is for you.

Can’t praise bagelman highly enough. I’ve tried most of their bagels and fillings and never been disappointed. Their meats never appear to be marinated but have so much flavour they really put most of the chain sandwich shops to shame. Only disapointment was the chicken noodle soup with matzo which was very cup a soup style but hey this is a bagel shop so not enough to warrant anything less than 5 stars

It usually takes about 5 nights in the UK for me to start feeling homesick for my american(pronounced amurrican) delights and that is when I take the bus over to Hove for a delightful Bagel at Bagel Man. This is the only place I can seem to find a bagel of any quality. Just chewy enough and not super doughey. I get the same thing every time; a sesame bagel with plain cream cheese, cucumber and tomato. If they aren’t super busy, they will bring it over to where I am seated at the front window where I people watch as I stuff my face. Love Love love this place!

A fresh and tasty lunch with drink for less than a fiver? In Hove? Yep, thats what you get here. I had a lovely lunch here today in pleasant surroundings and I really couldn’t fault it. They have a good selection of freshly baked bagels with and assortment of fillings, plus sandwiches, falafel, and a salad bar. I plumped for a mozzarella, avocado and tomato bagel. Which bagel would I like? Sesame seed please. Would I like it grilled? Would I like the tomato and mozzarella melted in the bagel? Would I like basil and pepper? Yes, yes and yes! The Bagelman is relatively small but they have further seating downstairs and the staff are so numerous that there is hardly any waiting involved when it comes to ordering and getting the food delivered to your table. On top of this, the staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. The Bagelman has been open for ten years now, its obviously a winning formula. A lovely place to stop if you want a quick and tasty lunch on Church Road.

You really can’t go wrong with anything you get at Bagelman(unless you hate bagels). I’m in a very nostalgic mood at the moment, and the bagels here reminded me of bagels made at the deli in my hometown. Not sure why that is — it could be the taste, it could be the pleasant atmosphere of the shop itself — but whatever the reason is, Bagelman is a great place to go for some great food.

Staying on a serious dough tip, the Hove branch of this local bagel chain is the most adventerous one menu wise. Alongside classic and house specials on plain, sesame or poppy seed, they also sell hot salt beef bagels, homemade potato and onion latkas and chicken soup with noodles and matzo dumplings. These are all listed under Quirky Jewish Stuff and are apparently pretty ‘darn good for a fast food place. From personal experience, I’d recommend the jalapeño bagels with cream cheese and gherkins and the chocolate brownies. I picked up one of the latter for a friend and ended up eating it on the way home it smelled so good. Shame on me, I know…

Ok, what I’m about to say might spark some controversy, especially with overtly patriotic Americans, or Yanks, but, I honestly believe the bagels here are better than those produced in New York, which, although perhaps a bold statement to make, truly reflects how awesome the food here is. These Bagel’s are tasty, freshly made before your eyes, come in a whole host of different flavours and are cheap. If you’re in Brighton you must head to Bagelman. You’ll experience the same succulent joy of a four course meal, without all those calories, the expense and the temptation to drink bottle after bottle of red wine.

«Bagel Man, Bagel Man, does whatever a bagel can.» Bagel Man would be a pretty lame superhero. I mean, come on, is there really the need for someone who sits around doing nothing much going at their core? I mean, we’ve got celebrities who serve that purpose! Fortunately Bagel Man does serve a purpose. And that purpose it serves is to serve dee-licious food — primarily bagels! The best thing to come with a pre-made hole in the middle since the Polo and the toilet roll(you can debate amongst yourself which came first — I think the Polo myself!) Go down to Bagel Man and try them out for yourself.

If you enjoy bagels at all then you must try this place. They make fresh bagel sandwiches that are to die for. I never seemed to stray from the lux deluxe, though there were many options that I wished I could have tried. You may encounter a line but not to worry, it usually moves pretty quick
