I’m so pleased I finally took the time to go to Raise Bakery! They have been open for a few months now, and being so close to my house I’ve been meaning to stop by for some coffee and cake and also to do some work! I met Jeremy after walking past when Raise first opened, there were some free samples of sausage rolls being given out! Very yummy indeed. Fast forward a few months, and I’ve finally returned. Yesterday I popped in to buy a slice of cheesecake to take home(I’m a hardcore cheesecake fan… and it was superb) and after being told they are selling pumpkin lattes(with homemade pumpkin syrup no less) I am back again today! I’m currently on my second pumpkin latte. Don’t be basic — forget Starbucks and get one from here! It is FANTASTIC and it also comes with a cute little gingerbread man to enjoy! On top of cookies, cakes and everything sweet and delicious, they also do great sandwiches. I had the ham hock with BBQ sauce and Coleslaw for lunch — again, really delicious and highly recommended. Everything is handmade in their bakery in Worthing apart from the bread, which is made by the Flint Owl Bakery in Lewes, so you really are buying local! If that wasn’t enough, there is plenty of seating in here, with power points and super fast broadband, so bring your laptop and have a working lunch! Both Jeremy and his Mum(they run the bakery together) are really lovely, and the rest of the staff come across as lovely and cheerful, which is always pleasant! I’ll be taking a pumpkin pie home to enjoy, and if Scott is lucky I might buy him a cookie too :-P I’ll definitely be stopping by more often, and recommending Raise to all my friends!

This relatively new addition to the coffee shop scene was recommended to me for their brownies so I rushed to try it out at the first opportunity. With an offer of three for five pounds, it was a good opportunity to sample their wares. I went for a caramel, a crispy and a mixed nut brownie. They were all tasty, although very sweet. My favourite was the mixed nut, I will definitely be back for this. I will probably give the crispy a miss though as it was slightly lacking on crispness! As well as the brownies, they have a good selection of tray bakes and delicious looking cheesecakes which will all need sampling in the future. I particularly liked the mixed broken-bits tray — these often taste better than the complete cake in my opinion ! As well as cakes, Raise do a great selection of bread made by the Flint Owl bakery. Of course I went away with a white sourdough, a favourite of mine. They also boast of having the best sausage rolls in Hove, another reason to return! As well as cakes, bread and lunches, they also sell cake decorating and bakery supplies. Yet another reason to come here. On top of all this, the proprietor and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. They also have highchairs for the little one. I’ll be back for another visit soon.
