As much as we love going out, it’s surprising we haven’t ventured to Charlotte’s Bistro in all these months. Tucked away off Chiswick High Road, it’s already become a favorite! One of the best things about the bistro is the skylight at the far end. So glad we decided to sit there. They have an extensive bar menu. I would have loved to try one of the cocktails but we had just done a pub crawl, so decided to stick with beers. The food was perfect and the portion sizes worked well for me. The peppers served with the chicken were super yummy and the chicken was cooked perfectly. My tomato soup was one of the best tomato soups I have had. The complimentary bread(also fabulous with the fresh butter) went well with the soup. The husband’s sardines were yumm but the hake was just about okay. They ran out of Eton Mess or else we would have definitely made space for dessert. Charlotte’s Bistro is reasonably priced for the ambiance and experience it offers. I would say it’s perfect for a date night!

The staff here take a while to notice you and take your order, however, once they do they are as friendly as can be. The guy that took the payment for my drink was super chatty; I loved that. We only ordered cocktails but they were made swiftly and presented beautifully. I had a Timperley Sour, a gin twist on a whisky sour and it was deliciously moreish and garnished with raw rhubarb. They provide complimentary sparkling and still water for every table, even if you aren’t dining, which is a nice touch. The mood lighting is nice, but certain parts of Charlotte’s are far too dark and it could do with some lamps. I’d be keen to try the food here if I’m ever in Chiswick again. I definitely recommend the cocktails.

First time eating in at Charlotte’s for breakfast and it was excellent. Great coffee, friendly and attentive staff and tasty bacon bap with homemade brown sauce. We’ll be back!

I can only speak for the cocktails but seriously… isn’t that REALLY what matters? I have such hard cocktail boners for this place. Seeing as my husband is a mixologist, it sort of ruined cocktails for me. I know better now. And Charlotte’s drinks make me swooooon. Not only does the bar staff have a direct hand in sourcing and selecting all their spirits, but they also write their own cocktail menu(updated every month) and even create some of their ingredients in house… including their bloody mary mix. YES. My hubs fell in love with their Illegal Negroni. I had the One Nest for Two and the English Country Garden. If you don’t see something you like, their bartenders will make something up. A true cocktail lovers bar. And with its laid back, candle-lit vibe and chill music, it’s definitely a few notches cooler than any spot on the high road.

Eh. Pricey and below-average-to-average food. As expected which is why it has taken my husband and I nearly two years to eat at Charlotte’s Bistro. 4 stars if I’m rating solely on cocktails and service. 2 stars if I’m rating solely on the food. Had a dinner reservation for 6 people but two cancelled at the last minute. Shame on them since the nice staff at Charlotte’s had reserved the 6-person booth at the far back of the restaurant for us. I’m sure Charlotte’s would have liked to utilize their 6-person booth for a party of 6 but our two dining companions cancelled and screwed Charlotte’s out of that possibility. Front of house(bartender and hostess) were super friendly. We were seated at our reservation time and a server appeared at our table quite promptly to take our drink order. I mumbled to her that the last time my husband and I were«day drinking» at Charlotte’s, the bartender had made me gin + fresh grapefruit juice martini and I was wondering if the bar was stocked with fresh grapefruit juice and if so, could she kindly hook me up with one of those delicious adult beverages? My husband had a similar request but for a different drink. She then scurried off to the bar and returned a few minutes later with our drink. Yum. Super delicious bread and room temperature butter was delivered to our table a short while later. I love room temperature butter! It’s so much better than cold, hard butter or even partially frozen butter. I wish all restaurants understood that room temperature butter should be served with bread! Anyway, I ordered the ribeye steak cooked medium with no sauce. This main also came with chips. The chips were delicious. If I had just drunk gin + grapefruit martinis and at my leg’s worth in chips, this review would sing a different tune. Unfortunately a well-done miniature ribeye steak(which was 50% fat, and I know it’s suppose to be fatty but this was excessive) accompanied my martini and chips and ruined my dinner. The long and short of it is that no one needs to twist my arm to pop into Charlotte’s for a drink but I’ll never be dining there again(unless it’s a side of chips whilst seated at the bar).

I really hate to do this as this was my only visit to Charlotte’s Bistro. Breakdown of review: 1. Front of House: excellent and extremely accommodating. Craig, the manager offered us a table even without booking ahead if we were able to finish within 2 hours. Easy. 2. Atmosphere: Although we had the best view of the place, the lighting was too dim to see the menu. I considered it all part of the ambience aside from almost accidentally burning up the menu with the table candle. 3. Waitress: quick, friendly, no complaints 4. Drink: the house wine was both and delicious 5. Food: my cod was cooked to perfection and the twice cooked chips were crispy and fresh. The rest of the table had the rib-eye, and I took a small bite. Utter disappointment! I know a rib-eye is meant to be fatty but this was a bit excessive. And because of the dim lighting I wasn’t able to make out what parts I was putting into my mouth. I have no complaints about the flavours, beautifully seasoned and well cooked. An error by the butcher should not rest solely on the restaurant but I can’t seem to drag the rest of the party back to Charlotte’s to give it another shot. Perhaps I’ll tempt my friends with Charlotte’s Gin Schools on Monday night…

Amazing food with great Ambience. You get what you are paying for here and the quality is nothing short of stellar. Recommendations by the staff were on point. My husband and I had gone there for a nice dinner; and we had a great time. The Menu does show to be seasonal and my husband raved about their steak which hadn’t been on the menu; nonetheless we tried menu items we normally wouldnt try; and were pleasantly surprised and more so delighted. Overall great place for a nice date. Highly recommend it.

Honestly the only place to go in west london. Perfect for pretty much any occasion — cocktails with the girls, a family Sunday roast, a first date, a birthday. Amazing food and cocktails. The menu changes on a fairly regular basis to reflect seasonal produce but pretty much every dish I have tried here has been amazing. Also: Make sure to try out their Gin school on a Monday night as well, they have the gin distillers introducing you to the ingredients and distilling process of their brand while you enjoy a complimentary G&T or gin martini! What’s not to like!

Good experience in general. Good ambience, good quality and good quantity. They have a set menu for dinner, 2 courses £25 or 3 courses £30. Dishes are well prepared and well presented. I’ve been with my wife and we enjoy it. We can repeat.

They know their Gin and they know their Whisky. Great knowledge from Ted — the gin man behind the bar. Sit by the bar and let him recommend you some incredible drinks. Like a suitable scene from an old classic film. Just missing the piano– play it again Sam.

Good atmosphere, great service and lovely food. The cocktail bar at the entrance is a good way to start the evening, but arrive early as its quite small and has limited seating.

Excellent food in a cozy atmosphere. The food is as good as comparable cuisine in central London. The only area of improvement was the service: our waitress did not seem fully knowledgeable about the menu and came across as a bit indifferent. But the service was offset by really good food(the special Sunday menu was reasonably priced). A charming neighborhood spot.

Went here with one vegetarian and one fishatarian. The latter is easy to satisfy in terms of menu selection from high-end menus. The former is not so easy. Charlotte’s accommodated with a couple of vegetarian selections which were pulse and grain based. The lentil choice of my companion was similar to the pulse-based based, stew-in-a-pan concoctions that you find in many French homes and bistros. I know this because my French companion said so. The chicken tender and delicately spicy. Service was excellent and the bill was reasonable considering some of the more expensive restaurants around the corner, offering similar food.

Have been to Charlotte’s twice and both times thoroughly enjoyed the food, atmosphere and cocktails. I had the belly pork dish. The first time the service was amazing and myself and a couple of girlfriends were treated so well that I knew I had to come back. a week later(last week) The service was a bit slower and my earlier waiter was not around. I also noticed the wine that I received was a year younger than the one that i had ordered but the waitress did not make me aware of that when she brought the wine over to the table. I was told that it was a problem with the supplier when I queried it but I feel it was not fair to pass the buck. Just be upfront with customers from the get go. I was told that next time I would be looked after but I am afraid I do not always spend £160 on a meal for two, will go again maybe for one of the menu offersl.

Went in for an early dinner the other Saturday. They had a very good offer running, £26 for 3 courses plus an arrival cocktail, so decided to give it a go. Service was fair, food was great, but just slightly lacking something. I would go back & would recommend, but wouldn’t rave over it.

I was very pleased with my experience at Charlotte’s bistro. My husband and I were meeting up with some family that were briefly in London and we stumbled into Charlotte’s. We didn’t have a reservation(it was a Tuesday though) but they were able to seat us even though they seemed fairly busy. Having no previous knowledge of this place, I was pleasantly surprised with how good my meal was. I had the BBQ chicken with falafel and my husband the roasted hake. One thing I would note is that the place wasn’t full when we went and it was very loud. I can only imagine how loud it gets when it’s a full house.

Delicious food, succulent fish from what I remember — Always feel like I should be dressed up to go in there though which is a shame especially at lunch time — quite dark inside as well — alright wines, annoying no regular lagers… One of the best restaurants in Chiswick

Very nice place, had lunch with a friend in a quiet wednesday afternoon. The restaurant wasn’t very busy, I know it opened not long ago so obviously it looks very nice and cosy, clean and tidy. The lunch menu is a good deal. We had a salad with pork belly and oriental dressing as starter and mackerel with veg. ratatouille as main. All very well made, nothing really whow but the food was good, fresh, with simple clean flavours. What else should you need for lunch? We declcined the dessert temptation just because I was going back to work afterwards. The espresso wasn’t the best ever, definitely too watery. Still, I’ll go back, the staff is good, attentive, friendly. And we had 2 courses lunch with coffee and water for like £ 13 each. Great value, no doubt.

Very disappointed with Charlotte’s Bistro. I booked it for my birthday, called to change the time but when we got there, they had given away our table, shrugged and showed us the door. I had high hopes of this restaurant but they were so negligent with our booking and so rude about the whole thing that I’m very reluctant to go there again. Le Vacherin were able to squeeze us in and we had a lovely meal there instead. I recommend Le Vacherin or La Trompette instead of Charlotte’s Bistro. Both places are more efficient and more courteous.

We went on a Saturday lunchtime for the soft opening, and it was really, really good. A bit slow, but we were warned to expect this with a new staff. The food was lovely, with decent sized portions, and lovely flavours. A £1 cover charge per person covers unlimited sparking and still water for the table, plus bread when you sit down. A good choice on the menu, with a good amount of vegetarian options, and a decent wine list, with a very good white for £16 a bottle. All wines come in half bottle carafes as well, fairly priced at half the cost of the full bottle. Apart from a snotty comment when I requested ice cream with my dessert instead of crème anglaise, the service was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is relaxed and the decoration is stylish without being too over the top.
