I love reviewing chicken shops. Honestly. Really. Genuinely. Legitimately. Earnestly.
This one is good. It reminds me of another one, in Fallowfield, with the same sign, and the same name. The ‘is it a chain?’ ambiguity that characterizes businesses in Rusholme with the same name can just about be dispensed with here, as the twain are identical.
The highlight? As with the Fallowfield one (because it’s the same), it’s the hot wings. Beautiful, crispy, and unlike in any other chicken shops, actually hot in the double sense of the word, spicy and temperate.

It’s not the king. It’s fried chicken in a box for 2 quid. So far I’ve reviewed 5,000 fried chicken places and it’s all the same. Chicken King is indistinctly similar in all respects to its counter parts, except it claims to be the chicken king a big claim for chicken fried then served in a cardboard box.
