I’ve been a regular shopper for years and when I moved to central London I thought my shopping habits would change. However, fighting with the hornet’s nest that is zone 1 is pointless. The John Lewis on Oxford Street may be the flagship store but it’s a nightmare. So what do I do? I still go to JL Reading to make big home purchases! The staff are dedicated, knowledgeable, and quick to help! I’ve bought from the electronics, haberdashery, clothing, furniture, baby/nursery, sports, gifts, cosmetics, and other departments. The selection is always good, the staff are always quick to help, but never pressure you into anything. This is really what John Lewis is all about! Top store.

A fantastic, all-in-one, department store. The departments were clean and organised, the staff friendly and helpful, the selection varied, and the location perfect for those that want to make a day of shopping as it is surrounded by stores. The bedding and furniture departments were delightful in options and prices, everything from cheap as chips to in my dreams. The clothing has some great sales if you are able to come at the right time, and there seems to never be lines for the dressing rooms(that alone would make anyone a fan). Departments include clothing(mens/women/children), shoes, housewares, makeup/perfume, accessories, electronics, you name it they have it. Great if you need a gift for someone and are at a loss as there is bound to be something here. Should you not be able to make it to the Reading location, John Lewis also has an online gift registry which is sure to make life easier for all. Enjoy!

Massive department store on Reading’s high street, John Lewis has everything. No cheap knock-offs here, it’s all name brands and it’s all expensive. Similar in theme to Macy’s or Dillard’s or Bloomingdale’s in the States, the John Lewis department store is carved up into various sections for menswear, ladieswear, boys, girls, housewares, electronics, jewelry, perfumes and more. Very good service, which is what you are paying for. The electronics department includes televisions, radios and computers, priced at what I think are above PC World and Argos prices. All that said, it’s a lovely store and a pleasant shopping experience. If I ever win the lottery, this is where I will blow most of my winnings.
