Massive selection of ales and other beers, reasonably priced and an outdoor garden/terrace.

One of a few places you can sit outside and enjoy a beer in Sheffield, but its noisy with all the traffic. Not much choice on the menu mostly burgers. So ideal for students and it has live bands on for the indie lovers.

The space out by the river is nice, but overall not the most cosy place. I’d come back in fair weather. The Kraken(my beer) had a tinge to it that suggested it was on the turn. Didn’t see the upstairs or the downstairs, both locations where there can be live music or entertainment.

It’s ok — there are better pubs round here — but it’s generally busy and has a pretty good atmosphere.

I haven’t tried their food but what better way to enjoy a pint of Staropramen while looking over the canal at the rear of the pub. It’s doesn’t look much from the outside but it’s actually quite nice inside. ( )

The Riverside, as the name suggests is on the bank of the River Don in Sheffield. I would describe it as a trendy pub, which sells a good range of different beers at a reasonable price. There is a friendly atmosphere in the pub. In the last couple of years a lot of student flats have been built in the area so the pub attracts a young, trendy crowd, but gets a bit buiser than it used to. There is a large outdoor seating area overlooking the river which is great to sit out on a nice summer’s evening

This is quite a studenty pub, has a good selection of real ales. The food is relatively basic pub food but good as long as your not looking for anything special. They have a regular curry night which is very good value. Ther’s often live music nights too. The staff are very nice and theres a great seating area outside overlooking the river.

I have only been here for the Sunday carvery and it was delicious! Really cheap and really good quality. The pub has jazz night and party nights — seems the ideal venue for it! It is a bit off the beaten track if you are doing a bar crawl round town but definitely worth a visit!

The pub is alive and open now since it’s closure as a result of the floods in July 2007. It’s a pub worth visiting, has an excellent range of ales and the prices are fair. The food is always fantastic and they often put on buffets at good prices. It has a nice beer garden with views of the riverside. A lot of effort has been put into doing this pub up and making it look appealing to the average pub lover. It always has a great atmosphere and hosts live music regularly. Well worth a visit day or evening.

This used to be one of my regular Real Ale haunts. Today(25th July 2008) I thought I would revisit the establishment. Alas the Great Flood of July 2007 has taken it’s toll on The Riverside. The venue has remained closed ever since. The software insists I give the pub a star rating. When it was open it was deserving of 4 stars. A real gem. Please remember that as of 25th July 2008 the pub is still closed and to be honest looked some way off of re-opening.
