Amazing lamb tikka on naan, never disappointed, chips always nice and crisp hot and fresh.

Shirley Kebab house is in my opinion, the best Kebab house is Birmingham(That I have sampled), their prices are the best I have seen and their food is always top notch. The chicken Tikka in naan is a personal favourite of mine, freshly cooked on hot coals, accompanied by a freshly made naan bread. It’s deliciousness it’s only rivaled by its great price of only £3.50. Can be had with a wrap if you are looking to cut down on carbs, great after a gym session :) a Accompanied by sauce and salad, give it a try! Traditional favourites like Fish and Chips are also available and very competitively priced. I would definitely recommend!

We visted Solihul on new years eve on the pretence that we were going to watch our friends band playing, but really it was because we wanted a Shirley K. You see, our friend(who lives in the area) is always posting pics on facebook late at night showing the delights that this place has to offer. So over time you convince yourself that not only do you need a Shirley K in your life, you actively crave one! So imagine our delight upon disvovering that it was just accross the road from our hotel for the evening… result! So festivities and alcohol out of the way we made our way staggeringly for a kebab, and we weren’t dissapointed. Ange had a donner on naan with mild sauce, and I went for a chicken on naan with chili sauce. Both were really lovely, although I had eyes bigger than my belly and couldn’t eat it all. Nevermind though because it made the journey home with us, and you’ll be no doubt thrilled to know that it reheated really nicely! We weren’t in Shirley very long, so I don’t know what it has to offer(Apart from members of Morgue Orgy living there), but it has a good Kebab house, and at the end of the day that’s what life is all about really :)

NYE2013 and a tipsy Mr and Mrs Z head for the much spoken about(in hushed whispers at a Morgue Orgy gig) Shirley K. We had dreamt about this moment for so long and now, finally, after years of longing, we had made it to a road in Solihull with money in our pockets and a hunger in our belly and just a short stagger to our bed for the night. Shirley K welcomed us with a warm glow of fluorescent bulbs. The sizzle of huge chunks of meat revolving languidly past heated grill elements enticed us with their melodies. The line of eager faced gentlemen greeted our entrance with smiles and we felt at one with the world. We ordered, we waited with drool scarcely held back from our lips, we watched as salad and sauce was added and as the nan enveloped meatiness was hidden away with a well practiced flick of a wrist, we marvelled at their wrapping skills. Clutching our bag of spicy delight we retreated to our Premier Inn bedroom and eagerly unwrapped the white paper packages to a steamy fragrant aroma of kebab that quickly permeated the room. We could wait no longer. Juicy strips of donner meat were scarfed down, chunks of chicken smothered in chilli sauce were devoured in seconds, hot nan was ripped apart, and a feeding frenzy of alcohol absorbing sustenance followed. All too soon we were full to the brim and the glorious kebabs were no more. Sadly, we consigned the tattered remains of the paper, smeared with the residue of chilli and yogurt, to the bathroom bin and added the joy of a Shirley K to our memories of happy times.

A popular Chip shop that has won the hearts of many. Lovely fish and chips, Kebabs, burgers and pies. Reasonable prices. The main guy serving reminds me of Super Mario(moustache). Good service. Selection of Indian kebabs/pakoras/samosas/katlamas. The Doner kebabs with salad, chilli and mint sauce are legendary. Worth a visit. Very busy on a Friday and Saturday night as in the vicinity of pubs in Shirley.

A local favourite. I’ve been coming here for years mainly due to the great tasting fish batter! As mentioned by James W, the area does have a lot of competition but for me this would beat them all if your after fish and chips or a donner kebab after a few beers on a Friday /Saturday night. :-)

Don’t let the title fool you, there is a wide range of meals offered at this popular kebab house. From fish and chips to traditional Indian food but this fast food take out is well known for its kebabs. They even serve salads! The food is just what you might want after a night out. The service is good especially as it can get busy on Friday and Saturday nights. A personal favourite is the Chicken Tikka wrap; tender chicken tikka chunks on a salad bed that is wrapped in a large and soft nan bread with sweet chilli sauce or a creamy mint sauce. There are other sauces you can choose from such as mint chutney. All food and drinks are reasonably priced. The location is ideally located on the high street, which makes it easy for anyone to go to.

When I was a kid, I was bought up in Shirley, Solihull, just round the corner from Shirley Kebab House. In the Eighties it wasn’t predominantly a kebab house; it was just a regular fish n chip shop that was owned by a local Greek family. They had a small kebab leg, but it wasn’t anything to write home about. It changed hands in the late 80’s to a Pakistani family and they have managed the shop ever since. It now specialises in both Chicken and Doner Kebabs. The food there hasn’t changed since the new management came into effect. You can still buy a deep friend potato covered in Southern fried batter mix for 30p. They also sell scallops and will put one into a burger bap with salad for 1.20. After the pubs turn out the place comes alive. Despite being open all day, it always seems busiest at pub kicking out times. The portion sizes are large and the service is very fast. There is often a crowd of people waiting for chips and kebabs and another crowd eating away at their food outside. In 1997 my brother caught Salmonella after eating from Shirley Kebab House. My family is pretty sure that it was this establishment that caused. At home we were very hygienic and careful people when it came to food. If you want to eat in this establishment, then I would ask the management what their hygiene rating is. If it is lower than 2 stars then I’d probably go elsewhere. There is a lot of competition in the area.

Excellent kebab establishment steer clear of the cheap and cheerful chips and reformed ‘chicken donner’ and settle in for a five minute wait whilst your chicken(or lamb) tikka is grilled and your own nan bread is baked ready for salad and chilli sauce. Almost a healthy take away. Chicken pakora two pounds for a massive portion.

I had my first ever doner kebab in a nan here, and ever since then I have returned as regularly as I am allowed to! The doner meat is juicy and delicious, the chicken doner is well spiced and their chilli sauce is the best I’ve ever had — I always get it in a separate pot when ordering, because that way you get more!!! The chicken pakora is tasty, but not for the fainthearted! The Shirley Kebab House Special Mixed kebab was always a pleasure. The chicken tikka shish is top notch too.

I always went to this shop on the way back from work back in time when i was working in Blythe Valley Business Park. The staff is always ready to take orders. The prices were good too. But now its been sometime I stopped going there because the quality of food dropped. The chicken which use to be the yummiest in solihull was half cooked when I last visited. I really liked their chicken donner but I stopped eating that when i became ill after eating their chicken donner as well. I would say overall their quality has dropped since they revamped their shop.

This takeaway is really good. The name suggests it just sells kebabs but it sells burgers, pizza, chips an other fast food options. The kebabs are huge and you can choose your meats and whether you want salads or several different type of sauces they have. The meat is halal however the chicken is chinese chicken which we don’t really like, it would be nice if the chicken could be plain without this coating and you could add what you wanted to it. Prices are very reasonable. You can stand in the shop whilst it’s made in front of you and there usually isn’t a big queue apart from Friday and Saturday nights. The staff are always chatty. I think they do delivery although we have always gone into the shop. There’s limited parking outside.
