Tap Bar

I wanted to like this place, I really did. It’s a lovely pub and has a nice menu. But… when a business is run by assholes, the good things don’t matter so much.
For a bit of back story – a year or two ago The Tap Bar renovated the place and did up the front part of the bar coffee-​shop style and even introduced an extensive coffee menu that nearly has more coffee choices than Costa and Starbucks combined. I was delighted as it reminded me of a lot of American coffee shops. I ordered a fancy latte and asked if I could have soy milk in it. The owner rolled her eyes, snapped the menu out of my hands and said ‘This is a pub, not a coffee shop. Go to Costa if you want soy milk’ and then walked away from me. Maybe they shouldn’t pose as a coffee shop if they don’t want to be portrayed as one, just a thought. Anyhow, I didn’t get my latte and they no longer get my business.

Stupidly expensive for a cup of tea, and the staff appeared to be having a great conversation between themselves which I rudely interrupted by wanting to order a drink, and they made me feel it. Also, how long can it take to make a cup of tea? Awful.

never going to go here again the landlady is rude and talked to me and my family like we was not meant to be in her posh café pub whatever it is. food was cold and not fresh defo microwave grub which i could have got myself from tesco used to be a nice place with nice staff i moved away a few years ago and come back to see family n friends and thought it would be nice to meet up in the old drinking venue but not like it was 4 odd years ago what went wrong tapbar and where have all ur helpful happy fun and good bar staff gone??? and with so many other bars around town on my next visit i wont find it hard to eat n drink somewhere else but then again after the way u was with me and my group i doubt very much that you would care A NOTE TO ALL READING THIS DONT GET SERVE BY THE LANDLADY IF YOU WONT A GOOD TIME IN THIS OTHERWISE NICE VENUE!!!

Had a lovely afternoon in the tap courtyard. Fabulous cake and coffee!
Will be going back soon! Relaxed atmosphere! Polite and helpful staff! Lots of events for children in the easter break!

Landlady was a nasty, unprofessional person — certainly wouldn’t describe her as a lady — will not return and would advise others to stay away in the first place

land lady take note — when you cuss half reasonable professional people off for no apparent reason and then disappear — you get crap reviews.
