East Side Craft House

Great spot for a drink and a bite! We went on a Saturday when they had Buy 2 Get 3 Appies so we got wings; dry Cajun & sweet carolina. The dry Cajun were the best wings I ever had… will get them everytime! And we got the dry ribs which were ok… not great. Decent drink prices… I enjoyed a couple Ruby Red Vodka and Tonics for $ 4.99, very delicious drink!

It’s about a 3.5 star place. This is the quintessential neighbourhood pub. There are a ton of nightly activities, food specials, and a ton of local easy-​going patrons. The food is pretty good too; it’s always made fast and hot. The place is slightly small though and the music is a little loud.
Go for: local fun at a neighborhood pub that has decent food, friendly staff that seems to know everyone
Don’t go for: a quiet place to talk and chill, a wow factor

I absolutely love this pub! It has a great menu with awesome pub food and entrée items. The waitresses and the owner, who is often there, are great, super accommodating and very friendly. I started going to this Pub for it’s Friday Night Trivia and its easily the best Pub Trivia in the city. So much fun and Deb, the quiz mistress, is the BEST. Next friday night try this place, you’ll love it! (I should add to get there early on Friday nights, it fills up quickly!)

Living in the area we don’t have alot of choice for a pub. .but this place is improving! The tap list is great with faves like Gypsy Tears but then Blanche de Chambly too! Taco Tuesdays have a vegetarian option which got me totally excited. My only complaint and has been for awhile is that it’s really well lit at night time. Wish could be a bit dimmer. Always friendly service & music bingo a hoot. Neighborhood pubs are a vital part of a community and these guys got potential.

Wings & music Bingo on Wednesday, awesome! Cheep Beer and Trivia on Fridays, amazing! Bring friends and make a team up, come early though or you won’t get a seat.
Burgers are delish (buns are mouth watering) and on Monday you get one with a beer for $ 11.99. Now there’s brunch on the weekend… soon they’ll be yelling «NORM» when I walk in.

Decent place. Given that there is no other drinking spot in the area, we often end up here after our ultimate games. For a «craft house», their beer selection is not huge, only about 7 beers on tap. We did have a beer from Chicago that was quite good.
We were there on a Wednesday, and the place was packed due to the music bingo. We ended up sitting outside. The servers were still very attentive and visited us outside often.
One thing I really enjoyed there was their wings, which is on special on Wednesdays. They are juicy and warm when served. Each plate had about 9, but their size made up for the few short of a dozen. We did hot, salt and pepper and honey garlic. The honey garlic was by far the group’s favorite.
Check it out if you are in the area and craving beer and wings.

How there is a sports bar where nothing else pops up on Unilocal.Size-​able amount of foot traffic from the back of the bar to the side entrance into the liquor store. This is the type of hidden place that you would never drive to but should. Great choice selections of draft beers, server that nailed beers recommendations, food recommendations and even pointed out competitors near BC Place which we would visit the next day. Sketchy parking in the back, but once you walk through the back door, it surprises with a clean, open sports bars. 7 Tv’s including a giant wall tv. Flavorful wings that even my dad, who never eats wings, finished off half a plate of. That good. Stay hidden my sports bar gem. Wait until I leave town before Unilocalers start showing up for the first time and becoming regulars. Patio option for those nice lazy sunny days.

Good Beer selection. Wednesday’s they have music bingo, very fun. Cheap wings. Not much else in the area. If you live in the area. It’s a good hang. Alot of regulars tend to go here. Located at 41^st Ave & Knight.

Menu is okay, nothing too special. There is nothing that stands out particular that I would go specifically for. Beers there are meh, I expected more from a «craft house» in Vancouver.

I am writing this review because of the bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers. They are very good. Not frozen stuff. These are real jalapeños with cheese in them, wrapped in bacon.
They are hotter than some people might be used to but they go great with beer.

You know its kind of odd, there’s no close pub around the area to compete with this place. 3 star rating isn’t bad. Its middle of the road with some great things going for it.
The wings were well priced. Wings were meaty. The fried skin flavour on its own is nothing special (hence the dry rubs and sauces). I’ve tried every flavour except jerk seasoning. Note to owners: my friends refuse to order it as they unanimously dislike the taste. I can’t say either or. Honey garlic was solid.
The beer selection is fair. A mix of macro and craft beers.
What makes this place shine…
My friends and I come here every so often on Wednesday and we fight for seats for musical bingo. The woman running the show is like 60 and was probably a bad ass in her day. Good for her. Musical bingo as a retirement job is wicked. The prizes vary and kinda odd. Nobody says to themselves, I want to win a Corona bucket (with no actual beer in the bucket)…except me, I actually wanted to win the bucket…
I can’t give this place a 4 just because I don’t feel this is a place I would immediately recommend to someone (unless they want musical bingo… then they’d get insta-​5 stars)

I have been to this pub a few times in the last week and I have to say the I thouroughly enjoy it. It sure does help that Hockey is back on. I live relatively close but did not care for the Elephant Pub that used to be here. The décor is decent for a neighborhood pub and it is sure handy to have a liquor store right next door.
Drinks are decently priced with varying specials throughout the week. They have many of my local favorites on tap like Howe Sound and Parallel 49. Not to mention Innis and Gunn on draught as well. Game nights have been fun with games and the staff are real friendly. Game day menu isn’t too bad either. They have great nachos and great potatoe skins. Wings are decent as well. Atmosphere is very east van. I don’t know how to describe it. I have lived in east van my whole life and I really enjoy the people. It’s nice not to have to travel all the way to Commercial Drive to get the same feel.
I would strongly recommend this place for a quick bite or to get the night started before heading out or even to chill out with a few friends for a few beers if you live in the general area to catch a cab home after getting tipsy for less than $ 50.

This is not a fancy or upscale establishment in any way. In fact, I think probably if smoking indoors were still allowed, the colourful clientele that were gathered around the poker table on Sunday afternoon would probably be indulging — it just *feels* like that kind of a place, you know? A working man’s pub — no frills (which is totally fine if that’s what you’re after) except maybe a dart board and a TV.
They were out of the beer I wanted after a busy weekend, and also informed us they were out of all drink specials. That being said, if you’re in the neighbourhood and just looking for a no-​frills place to have a beer, you won’t go too badly wrong here. Our server was really friendly and the bathrooms were spotless (always a plus in my books).

Moved to the area and noticed there was a ‘craft house’ nearby. They do carry some good craft brews (like parallel 49 an whistler) but not as many as other craft houses.
The place had a weird smell to it but when we sat down and saw the prices of pints and food we really didn’t care about the smell. Our server was super friendly and super amazing at helping us and her knowledge of beers exceeded our expectations. A great little chill place in a random area of town.

Musical bingo was interesting. Fun, but the prizes not so great, I would think to promote your bar a lot more by giving away more gift certificates. Make people want to come back and have more.
The wings were alright — but not great.
Butter chicken sauce — wings just tasted like curry powder flavored chicken wings.
Jerk Sauce — the wings tasted kind of lemony which I thought was weird, maybe it was just me? ~ hopefully it was just me.
Honey Garlic — Was my favorite.
Salt & Pepper — felt like it needed just a little more salt and pepper.
I had the polar bear swim — cocktail drink which I enjoyed.
I would like to think I’ll return to this place for a bite, but I’m going to be honest and say probably not anytime soon.
The service here however was fantastic, with the waitress helping us take a group picture as we left. (she gets a star)

In the past few weeks I’ve been to the East Side Craft House twice; once for Trivia Night, and once for Music Bingo. Each time I was with a large group (8 – 15 people), and it’s easy to make a reservation (the pub is very accommodating). My friends and I had a great time both nights, and I’d definitely go back.
The burger I had the first night was pretty tasty, but the appetizers (potato skins and jalapeño poppers) the second night weren’t anything special. They weren’t terrible, but I wouldn’t recommend the ESCH if you’re looking for good appies. (Aside from wings, they didn’t have any specials on the appies, so the price wasn’t worth it.)
I don’t like beer, so I had sangria the first night, as they were on special ($ 4.95, I think). They were pretty, with pieces of strawberry in them, but not much flavour, or alcohol (after three, I wasn’t even buzzed). So the second time I ordered their house red, and no complaints there. (I can’t remember how much the wine was, and they don’t have a drinks menu on their website, which is annoying, but I recall the price being quite reasonable.)
All in all, the East Side Craft House is a place I’d recommend for a fun night or cheap glass of wine, but not for their appetizers. It’s also refreshing not having to take the skytrain home from downtown with a train full of puking drunks.

This pub has a decent beer selection. Good price for different appies and beers when they are on special. It is a bit worn down — definitely not a place to bring clients or girl friends. Parking is always problematic as they only got two spots of their own. I didnt like their wings but the dry ribs were edible.

I want to come back for Trivia Night.
Most places are first come, first served. If you don’t arrive early enough, too effing bad. This place takes reservations. We did not have one. Coming down from our Storm Crow Games Night high, I told my friends we should come down some night.
Since we didn’t know nothing about this place, we were just stopping in to have a bite to eat. We were asked about how long we would be… I dunno, how fast does the food come out? We were told that as long as we leave by 7:45pm, we could have a table in the corner. Okay. Fair enough. It’s only 7pm. I order a coke and a steak sandwich. My hubby orders a beer and a burger. The food does come out fast. The fries are really good, my steak is a nice rare. It bleeds all over the plate… and I am okay with that. I ordered the garlic sauce for my fries… order it. Way better than just ketchup.
Even if we did stay longer, trivia night is no fun when there’s just two of you. How can you win with only that much knowledge? I would come back here… they also have an entertainment book coupon.

Came here for some drinks. Looks like this place is now much smaller than the previous Elephant Walk — they’ve split the area into a cold beer & wine store as well.
Parking is available in the back (5 or so spots), but I would recommend just parking directly on 41^st or Knight.
The interior is quite cozy, and has that neighbourhood pub feeling. They’re renovated, though the washrooms are still as the same as before.
As I was only here for beer, I cannot comment on the food. The beer was good, and the service was decent. No complaints.

The East Side Craft House is a decent place to grab a drink from a modest but well-​chosen list of mostly local taps (including Parallel 49 and Howe Sound) while munching on standard pub fare. Located on E 41^st Ave near Knight St, there’s really nothing else around this area but houses. Which makes it, I suppose, a real neighborhood pub. Street parking is plentiful as there are no other business around (the adjoining liquor store is part of the restaurant).
There’s ample outdoor seating, although 41^st Avenue traffic isn’t the most soothing of sounds and sights. The atmosphere isn’t any more interesting inside, except we decided to stay after spotting on the chalkboard some brews we’d been pursuing. Both the Parallel 49 Seed Spitter (watermelon) and Howe Sound Four Fruit were particularly refreshing for a warm summer evening, both regularly priced at $ 5-​something. Friendly, relaxed service. I hope more such places will come to this area of town.
