Ale&Hop

This place was packed, but everyone working there was working hard!
The food was great. I was skeptical of vegan beer bar food, but it was GOOD. I had the beet burger, it was perfect.
But more important than the food and the awesome comics they made into wall paper (and coincidentally blessed by the artist); is the awesome beer selection. The prices are reasonable, and the pours are perfect.
Some of the beers you can even take to go, (which we did, drank, and refilled before leaving Barcelona). That’s right, we visited two times as many days.

The one thing I love about Ale Hop is that they do their own brew! A bit harpy but great beer and lovely environment with some mates!
Great variety of choices and if you’re like me and can’t make up your mind on what to have. Order lots of samplers instead of glasses of beer. I think it might be a little bit of work for the bar tender (so make sure you give a good tip), but at € 0.5 per sample, it’s actually not a bad deal to try all 10 beers at a reasonable price (you ended up drinking more than a standard serve anyway).

Great food, I loved the vegan options. They have quite a few vegan options, which is very exciting, as I usually find only one vegan dish at most places. The beer was good, I tried the Fort Apa. I had a Mexican vegan burger which was AMAZING, it was a black bean base with guac, caramelized onions, BBQ sauce and tomato/​lettuce. It was so good. Served with like 5 sweet potato fries. The service was really great too. It would be nice if the portion sizes were a bit bigger, as the burger was slightly larger than a slider. But I guess it’s in keeping with the tapas thing? After I left I wished I had ordered another one, as its more of a snack than a meal unless you get more than 1 thing. All in all it was a great time, they have wifi, beer and vegan food and that is all I ever want!

This quite, small, unassuming place is a local craft beer bar at its finest. Rotating taps, local and imported craft and artisan beers. Good wide selection in place of the normal «We have 8 different IPA’s and only 1 other type of beer». They also have real english ales (2 taps)
I’ve found this place great for beer lovers to take both their friends who want to ease into the craft scene and veterans who aren’t afraid to try different styles in one sitting.

Muy bueno! Tienen un buen servicio y gran variedad de cervezas. Pedimos varios platos, entre ellos croquetas de algas y hamburguesas veganas. Disfrutamos con la comida y con la bebida. Altamente recomendable.

Superb American style brewery, west coast style IPAs and great vegetarian menu! Must do!

We found Ale & Hop while staying in the El Born neighborhood, and it was a great craft beer oasis to have nearby. It’s a small spot on a cool cobblestone street with an outdoor area you can hang out in if you want to. They have a good selection of beers on tap both local and from far away, and you can get them in pints or half pints which is really cool so you can try more beers without having to get sloshed.
We didn’t try the food though, but from what I read they have some good selections also. In addition to the beers on tap, they have a selection of bottles/​cans that you can buy to have there or take away also.
Definitely I’d go back next time we’re visiting Barcelona :-)

The beer was great and the bartender knowledgeable. Wish we could have stayed for food, but we had to leave. The bathrooms were real bad that it kind of turned us off. Flies everywhere. Maybe it was just bad luck.

Esta no es una cervecería cualquiera… es el bar perfecto para los amantes de la birra artesanal :) Aunque yo no pertenezca a ese «lupuloso» colectivo sí es cierto que cuando he ido he probado algunas de las más suavecitas y me han encantado. Además, el ambiente que hay es genial. He de decir que el chico que lo lleva es encantador así como el servicio en general. Te guste o no la birra, no te pierdas este pequeño bar del Born.

These are the most creative veggie burgers I’ve ever had. I love that they’re not content with one kind. They have three on the menu, and I had the lentil with dill and mustard. My husband had the chickpea with beet, rhubarb and wasabi. I loved mine, but I wanted to eat his, too. The bun is nice and flaky like saltines. They come with big fat chewy sweet potato wedges with aioli.
The craft beers are very hoppy, which is what American hipsters like, and they were there in numbers. A very drunk girl hurt the bartender’s feelings by telling her she looked like Lena Dunham. «You know who she is? Do you watch the show Girls? But you’re prettier than she is.» After they paid I told the bartender she didn’t look like her and not to let it ruin her night. She thanked me and said another guy asked if she was pregnant earlier and maybe people are just jerks on Mondays.
Anyway, if you like good veggie burgers and hoppy craft beer and cheese — they have an excellent cheese plate, but they only do the board. They don’t serve it tapas style, which is weird in Spain, and they don’t let you taste the beer. You have to buy the 1.5 euro flight of three shots of beer. That said, go here.

La comida está muy buena, hecha con productos de calidad. El único pero, podría ser el tamaño de los platos, pero por el precio puedes probar tres en lugar de dos. A parte de la comida, está el tema de las cervezas artesanas: disponen de diez grifos y un gran surtido en botella. Muy recomendable si te gusta comer con una buena pinta.

Ya tenía ganas de ir hace tiempo a este bar y la verdad es que no tendría que haber tardado tanto. Como ya he dicho arriba el trato fue superior.
Para la gente nada entendida como es mi caso en cervezas artesanas, tienen la opción de ponerte 3 chupitos donde puedes probarlas y entonces escoger la que más te gusta y… jolines que difícil! Qué ricas todas! Esto normalmente tiene un coste (lo de los 3 chupitos digo) pero no nos cobró, tuvimos la suerte que nos atendió el dueño del local y se enrolló :)
El local y la musiquita muy guai. Quizás la cerveza es más careta, pero es artesana y eso, como todo en la vida se paga. Ah! También tienen deliciosas tapitas vegetarianas!

Fuimos a este local buscando una alternativa vegetariana de calidad y, la verdad, es que repetiré seguro. Las bravas de boniato están deliciosas. Pedimos un rissoto con acelgas buenísimo y una hamburguesa mejicana. Todo con una presentación excelente. El servicio muy bueno, nos aconsejaron muy bien y fueron muy simpáticos. De precio está genial y la cerveza es muy buena. La única pega es que los lavabos estaban un poco descuidados y había uno fuera de servicio. Por lo demás, 100% recomendado.

Great beers, and good vegan burgers. The service is on point. I’ve been here twice and the first time was way better than the second. I will not be back.

Fuimos a probar este local ee cervezas artesanas en el Born. Los precios y la variedad para mi un notable. Las tapas o platos para compartir a buen precio y mejor calidad. Con ofertas anunciadas en las pizarras: como tapas a 1euro los jueves. Lo unico que me incomodo: el local esta lleno de perros o al menos ese dia, y si te sientas en las mesas casi te obligan a comer algo

Lots of beer and vegan burgers. It’s simple and great. If busy in the front, There is more seating through the back. The bartenders are really friendly and food is light and yummy.

Decent selection of craft beers on tap, a few locals but with mainly international beers. Decent bottle selection too. One of the spots to visit in Barcelona if you are a beer geek and want a tasty brew.

Fun spot with an excellent beer selection. The Vegan burgers were amongst the best I’ve had anywhere, but small as they were tapas sized. The menu as a whole is limited whether you’re Vegan or Vegetarian which was the one down side to this place. The atmosphere was cool and the waitstaff a ton of fun.
I would gladly visit again if I were to return to Barcelona.

Fabulous little beer pub. Try the Edge (local to Barcelona) IPA/​APAs. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and speak enough English to make it easy to visit. Its in the middle of the Barri Gotic but not that hard to find. Nine taps including and a vegan menu. Llenties i Mill burger was awesome. If you’re sick of Estrella and Mahon and want amazing beer and a healthy respite from jamon this is the place to find.

El Ale&hop es un bareto donde darte un respiro tomando una caña ecológica y de nivel.
Cuidan mucho la selección ya que son auténticos fanáticos de esta bebida.
El ambiente joven y amable invita a relajarse y disfrutar de la cerveza. No sé si es nuevo pero ahora también ofrecen un menú de día de lunes a jueves, ¡habrá que probarlo!
A tener en cuenta que los precios son un poco altos, no está de más que pidas probar antes la cerveza que has elegido para acertar en el sabor y que la inversión sea acertada.

Nice selection of craft beers and a friendly staff. Lots of English speaking people there so communication was fairly easy. We snacked on a few apps and despite not being vegetarian, I still enjoyed what we ate a lot.

Especializado en cervezas, en este local del Born sirven también tapas vegetarianas bastante resultonas incluso para un carnívoro como yo. Tienen una buena selección de birras, si no recuerdo mal unos doce tiradores con marcas distintas. Lo bueno que teiene es que como queda un poco escondida en el barrio del Born no está muy masificada y es fácil hacerse un hueco.
