Absolutely horrible food and even worse service. The waiters are not only unfriendly but incompetent. We ate here as we read good reviews but could not be farther from the truth. Also, everything is overstated and overpriced.

Amazing spot. They don’t speak English so you know it’s mainly local customers. The food was amazing, they have some real authentic tapas dishes. Just go with the flow I’ll not tell you what I had, ask what is good if you aren’t sure, be patient with the language barrier the food is worth it. It was humorous ordering to be honest. really great older staff, in a lovely little restaurant which is posted as being the oldest in the port area, which is 1753. We were recommended this place by a local

Total old world feel. I ordered the grilled monkfish(not on the menu) and it was huge! Think TBone steak size. Fishermans clams w pepper were sweeet since they were all baby size. Will definitely. make it back here on my next Barcelona trip

A nice restaurant in the barceloneta area. Services is good and quick enough. Price is not average, maybe a bit expensive. The starters weren’t great for what I expected. But I can say that the ink rice with squid was amazing! This save the food and I guess that all the rice/paella could be great.

Our second time here. Had best monkfish ever, sauce was rich yet not too creamy tomato based with fresh herbs – excellent and the fish was perfectly cooked. Had monkfish many times before and often tough and over cooked. Duck was also very good with a delicious syrup-like reduction that was hearty and rich. Seabass with potatoes also a winner, potatoes with peppers made a perfect combination. Angel was our server who was somewhat knowledgeable of English. He Made it fun communicating, he was patient and honest about choices guiding us when we had questions. We finished with chocolate coulant — simply a terrific ending.

Came here for dinner — 1 Canadian, 1 French, 1 American, 1 Icelandic, 4 Finnish members to our party. With this diverse array of food tasters we ordered several tapas — Octopus & potato(wow!), shrimps with garlic(wow wow!), patatas bravas(we ordered twice after the two servings disappeared), and the classic tomato bread. We then ordered a lobster paella(counts as 2 portions, best anyone at the table had sampled so far on this trip to Barcelona), grilled fish plate, catalan sausage, and veal with roquefort sauce. Two bottles of white later — we all tumbled out of the restaurant more than satisfied with the food, the service, and the company. This is a relatively inexpensive restaurant if you know what to order and eat in a family style manner. We all sampled all the plates to maximize the experience. Then we wandered the streets(walking distance from pretty much everything) to enjoy the La Mercé festival.

Needed a place to eat in barceloneta… Wasn’t sold on anything we read about. Luckily there was a guy who lives in the neighborhood and recommended we walk to the circle and see what our options were. We really wanted tapas and sangria. We looked at the menu and saw that they had a lobster paella and my oh my… was it amazing… It was three of us… we got a pitcher of sangria… three apps(cod salad, salad with goat cheese, and fried squid rings), and a lobster paella for two and the rabbit… check came up to 101.10 Euros… not bad… yesterday we ate at a place we thought was good but this restaurant was by far the best food we’ve had thus far. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for tomorrow

Hands down, the best meal we had in Barcelona. Warning to all my fellow travelers: there are a bunch of places in Barcelona that sell frozen, packaged paella. We learned this the hard way. After strolling around Baceloneta, we were famished. We were a bit wary of the places on the main street, in fear that we would get more packaged food. Walking down a small side street, we came across Can Ramonet. Several tables sitting outside had huge pans of paella on the table that looked absolutely delicious. It’s definitely a bit pricier than other restaurants in Barcelona, but well worth it. We ordered the shrimp in garlic sauce and seafood paella to share. The shrimp came out in a skillet, still bubbling away in a simple but delicious garlic and oil mixture. The paella here is LEGIT. So flavorful, with lots of fresh seafood. We sampled some desserts as well, and they were on point. The restaurant itself is incredibly charming, and service was excellent. A definite must-try in Barcelona!

Stayed in El Born for a week and ate here three times. The paella is excellent and the staff is extremely friendly. Highly recommended.

The food was very good. I had the roasted vegetables with goat cheese appetizer. The flavors were varied and it tasted delicious. I also had the vegetable paella which was also very good The baked sea bass was amazing. It so well seasoned and the potatoes on top seemed to be baked with it in all the wonderful seasonings. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in Spain. The catalan crème Brulee was not warm. It tasted okay. I wouldn’t order the brulee again. If it weren’t for the long wait to be acknowledged and seated the second time I was there, even though there were plenty of empty chairs, they would have received five stars.

Well, i searched a xampagneria I know from earlier trips without success. So we ended up here. It was a good choice. Good tapas, black rise, good wine. Reasonable prices. Worth a visit if you are in Barceloneta

Featured in both Lonely Planet and Afar I figured Can Ramonet would be a sure bet for lunch near the beach. However my experience fell short, into the basic category. Good enough to eat but nothing that will make you remember your meal later on.

Went here late one Friday night and had a nice meal. It’s not the BEST food I’ve had in Barcelona, but it’s pretty durn good. I especially recommend the very tasty fishermans paella. A bit on the noisy side but a pleasant experience.

We stopped by here while walking in Barceloneta to have a drink. It was pleasant enough, the service was slow, but I’ve come to expect that in Spain. We stayed because the food smelled so good and they had clams on the menu. 15 Euros for an appetizer was a lot, and it was appetizer portions. However it was delicious! The waiter couldn’t be bothered to ask if we wanted anything else, like to order bread to soak up the sauce, so we ended up eating the sauce like soup with the clam shells. If they had been a bit quicker and cheaper we would have stayed and spent more money. Effectively, they inspired us to go home and cook a big meal. The inside was spacious and seemed to cater to large tourist groups, English and German. The plates of paella being served to tables of 10 smelled enticing. The full tables and aroma told me that they were doing something right, if not for my mood that day.

There is no way I’ll eat there again… Expensive and not really good… If you want to eat close to the street with its noise and smells, you can go there. It will be a plus for your dull course.

Very reliable and enjoyable seafood and fish restaurant in the Barceloneta district. Probably the neighbourhood’s most well-known restaurant. It’s been around in its current incarnation since 1956, but people have been frequenting the spot for food since the mid-18th Century. Apparently the Barceloneta’s oldest building. Wonderful entrance area, with upturned barrels used as tables, lots of fresh fish and crustaceans on display, and a splendid tiled dining room at the back. Friendly, welcoming service, super-fresh catch of the day, and perfectly executed accompaniments such as asparagus and aubergines, patatas bravas and other urgent comforts. Having a cold beer and some bravas is a good way to start a long lunch. The fish is invariably splendid. A fine establishment. They’ve got a newer, more upmarket one around the corner, but it decidedly lacks the atmosphere.
