I’m appalled at how bad the service was here! We walked in and were forcefully told to sit down and wait for our pre reserved table! Then we get taken to our table and we waited for about 15 mins and multiple attempts at trying to make eye contact to finally get a server to our table! (Ps this theme continues all night). Our reservation said we were both vegetarian but we now get two regular menu’s thrown at us and the server walks away again! 10 mins later he appears to say hello to us. At this point we say we are vegetarian and… surprise surprise… he disappears again to get us other menu’s! It’s now been an initial 10 mins + 15 mins + 10 mins and we finally get to order. The food comes out fast enough but perhaps too fast or just that my standards for decency are far too high. My wife was not even thru her first course when another server decides to drop our main courses on the table and walk away! Fast forward to more situations of trying to get someone’s attention for a bottle of water (15 more minutes and being ignored by 2 servers and for the record) and we are now at the end of the main course. Our server finally found the time to come by he table and ask us about desert and decided to make the most of the opportunity I decided to order desert and ask for the cheque at the same time! Real Time: we just got out deserts but surprise… no cheque yet! I can maybe tolerate this level of «service» when you are overbooked but I wonder what the excuse is for such poor service on a night that the restaurant is about 30 percent occupied at best! My final verdict: never ever come here by mistake!

It was very delicious and they have their menu card in different languages. Nice view, would go again!

From the fancy white table cloths, to the well dressed servers, to the long wait, I expected to receive great service and taste something gastronomically amazing and full of flavor. That was not the case.
We were a party of 4. After waiting 30 minutes, we were told our table was ready and we were allowed to go upstairs. Only to wait another 15 minutes on a bench. Finally we were sat at our table, only to wait another 15 minutes to receive menus. We ordered water and wine, they brought the wine and let it sit on our table for another 15 minutes unopened. When the waitress returned she asked us if we were ready to order. I told her nicely we have been waiting a long time and if she can please open the bottle of wine. Instead, she started letting me know that they were really busy and that there were other people in the restaurant. I don’t know if it was a language barrier but I speak fluent Spanish and this conversation happened in Spanish. I didn’t want to argue so I just let her say what she needed to say. Instead of opening the bottle of wine, she starts to force us to make our order and starts typing it in on her little handheld gadget, as the bottle still sat on our table unopened. She leaves and returns after 10 more minutes and finally opens the wine. I don’t know who trained this staff, I wish they would have just given me the bottle opener, we would have already been on our second bottle.
To start, we each ordered a salad, two got the house salad, one a spring roll salad dish, and I got the tomato salad with tuna on top. House salads looked like American house salads you would get at an ordinary diner, the spring roll had no flavor, but my tomato salad was delicious. The tomatoes was fresh, but had it not been for the tomatoes, the dish was uneventful.
For our main entrees, we ordered the hamburger, filet, veal, and steak tartare. Each of us had a taste of each others plates. The only thing that was good was the filet, which was tender and perfectly cooked. The hamburger patty was dry, the veal was dry, and my steak tartare was flavorless, under seasoned, and looked like the hamburger patty before it was cooked. We all got french fries, the fries were not bad.
I must say the whole night was not wasted, thanks to the 3 bottles of wine and the great company.
We had such amazing dining experiences in Barcelona, I didn’t think you could get forgettable, under seasoned, and uneventful food in this city. Well, I was wrong. If you want to wait a long time with bad service and bland, lackluster food, this is the place. I suggest finding a hole in the wall with character and spirit, you’ll get better food and service.

Touristy, but good touristy. The second-​floor dining room looks out over the Passeig de Gràcia, right across from the Gaudí building, Casa Batlló. It’s reasonably formal (linens, jackets), but tourists are welcome as they are. We spent our time people watching on the street below to guess who were tourists (Americans are SO easy to spot) and who were locals.
The food was excellent and service, too. Moderately expensive, but exactly what you would expect from a restaurant in this location. Dollars go so much farther these days, so it really was quite reasonable.
Definitely recommend it.

I have been coming to Citrus every time I come to Barcelona over 8 years. It’s been a very nice experience ALL THE TIMES! The food is amazing and the service outstanding! A MUST if you like to eat well you can’t miss CITRUS!

Situado cerca de casi todo; podría ser un buen lugar para descansar si estás de turisteo por Barcelona. Forma parte de una cadena por tanto, si eres autóctono quizás reconozcas algún plato.
De primero unos entrantes; Raviolis de Marisco con salsa de Nécoras (muy buenos), buñuelos de bacalao y el clásico pan con tomate (muy rico). De segundo un steak tartar (mejorable) y de postre un Naranjus (bueno).
El lugar es tranquilo. El trato es excelente y atento. El precio es quizás demasiado según porciones servidas, pero hay que tener en cuenta que estás en Passeig de Gràcia.

Good location to shopping. We had dinner here and I had the Sea Bass which was very light and hit the spot. My colleague had the veal which looked equally yummy.

This restaurant was a recommendation from our hotel for good Mediterranean food and is located in a central area of L’Eiample (which was one of my favorite areas of Barcelona filled with lots to attractions and high-​end shopping). It was described to us as a place with sophistication and impeccable food. Overall, we were very happy we went with our hotel’s recommendation,
It’s on an upper level which allows for guests to overlook the city, which to me is always nice for added ambiance. It’s also an ideal place to take a date as the vibe of the restaurant is warm and intimate.
The service was up to par and you can tell they are there to make sure your dining experience is perfect.
We decided to go all out and try a little of everything including starting off with a pitcher of sangria (which was good but not remarkably memorable in any way) along with appetizers (including paella, which wasn’t the best we had in Barcelona in which I recommend hitting up the little places for that), entrees, and dessert.
All the seafood we ordered was heavenly, I mean truly unique and delicious. Our dessert wasn’t anything exceptional, but still worth trying (we went with the «Belgian Chocolate» which I guess was a generic choice on our part but usually chocolate is always a classic choice that doesn’t disappoint).
The dining experience, ambiance, along with amazing selection of food (at reasonable prices) makes this restaurant a great choice for someone looking for a hint of «sophistication» in Barcelona, as the hotel brilliantly described this place.

We stopped in for lunch, the food was quite good (had croquettes, bread with tomatoes and goat cheese salad) but the service was a bit uneven. Friendly, but we were given two incorrect drinks and the olive oil and balsamic arrived for the bread after we had already eaten half of it. Still the food was good and they were quick to bring the check which is always appreciated.

Desde hace un año asisto a este lugar y siempre me ha fascinado, la localización es perfecta, la calidad de la comida es exquisita acorde con el precio, la atención correcta. Lo único malo hasta el momento es la carne no esta nada buena. Lo demás perfecto !!

On our last night in Barcelona, we dined here for dinner. Sat on the 2^nd floor overlooking the busy street downstairs!
(1) Fried artichoke hearts for appetizer

(3) Salad for 1^st course
(4) Fish was my choice for main entrée
(5) Veal was my husband’s choice for main entrée
(6) crème brûlée for dessert!
We enjoyed house White & red wine with our meal!

COCINA DE AUTOR A PRECIO ASEQUIBLE.
Citrus se caracteriza por ser un restaurante elegante, ya desde la calle, en pleno Paseo de Gracia de Barcelona, captas cierto encanto que como mínimo hace que te acerques a ver la carta. Y los PRECIOS ASUSTAN, aunque no lo suficiente como para que al gourmet que llevas dentro le siga picando la curiosidad, así que después de pensarlo mucho, te decides a entrar.
Te acomodas en tu mesa, te traen la carta y continuas pensado que la factura va a doler, pero ya estas dentro y te aventuras a pedir alguno de esos platos con nombre atractivo de cocina mediterránea. Y los primeros empiezan a llegar para ti y tus acompañantes, y te sorprende que sean platos grandes, con una presentación impecable, pero tal vez con poca cantidad. Las expectativas de la calidad se ponen por las nubes a esos precios, me ponen tan poco! Son huevos estrellados y parece que hay medio huevo y que en lugar de estrellarse solo se haya dado un ligero golpecito. Pero los pruebas y ahí esta el secreto de Citrus, no vende por barato, ni por abundante, vende por calidad. Platos sabrosos y bien presentados que hacen que compense pagar un poco más si estas cansado de pagar poco para comer peor.
Así que amigos y amigas, si es principio de mes o no os importa pagar un poco más por una oferta gastronómica de alto nivel no os lo penséis, VALE LA PENA.

I liked this place, the menu is huge and in about 7 languages, clearly for tourists, but its been around for about 20 years so… The location is in a tourist area and the views from the second floor are very nice. My service was very good and the food tasty as well so if you are in the area you will get a nice meal. I ate the sea bass and it was perfectly cooked, we tried a variety of appetizers… fried artichokes, croquettes, the tomato salad (the green tomatoes, I forget the name). All good stuff.

Los platos no son muy copiosos, pero sabrosos. Vale la pena probarlo.
La relación calidad precio es correcta teniendo en cuenta lo difícil en entorno encontrar algo parecido que no caiga en lo típico y regular.

Excellent food! Everything from the appetizer (pasta salad with shrimp and smoked salmon + pistachio pesto) entrée (duck magret with pineapple), and dessert (chocolate coulant with chocolate ice cream) was delish!

Se merece 5. Pero no voy a dárselos. He ido en distintas ocasiones, des de hace 10 años, por el precio no puedo ir a menudo, la última vez en verano será la última, considero que deben cuidar la higiene. Tomaos este comentario con pinzas, si queréis, pero para mi la higiene es muy importante. Supongo que alguien no haría bien su trabajo y se lo hago pagar en general al restaurante.
La comida es buena, ensaladas y platos en general muy bien decorados, postres perfectos. Es una lástima, la verdad.

No reservation needed, the actual restaurant is on the 2^nd floor and gives you a good view of the street. (if you are not seated behind a wall).
Portions were normal food was reasonable. The waiters were helpfull but they forgot us. There was no handover when the new waiters arrived.
Food was not warm enough.
I did expect a little more from this restaurant.

Our chef friend visited us and we wanted to take her out to a nice restaurant. We were sorely disappointed.
Rude service, bad wine, awful food, and high prices. The server spilled the wine on our table without so much as a second glance. We ordered a few starters and after tasting the overcooked and uninspired food we left.
Despite its nice appearance, this is a restaurant to avoid.

We’d seen Citrus on several previous trips to Barcelona and had always vowed to give it a try. This time, we actually did. .. and were sorely disappointed.
Citrus is beautifully located on the prestigious Passeig de Gracia. The room is spacious, crisp and modern, on the second floor, with stunning views down the boulevard and a fairly hip vibe to the place. The menu looks spectacular.
Now, for the rest of the story. .. First, our server had absolutely no personality and we really had no interaction except to order. His movements and mannerisms were so jerky, rapid and rushed, banging dishes onto our table and snatching them away with little notice, that we were actually startled every time he came nearby. He was almost comical.
Food was nicely presented but every dish was cold, as if it had been sitting forever waiting for delivery. My seafood ravioli was swimming in a fowl smelling sauce, and there was so much of it that I couldn’t decide if it was really supposed to be a bisque. Then, there was the main — a course so forgettable that I can’t recall what it was, just 2 days later.
My dining companion’s dinner was even worse. His fish entrée was ice cold, with a limp, soggy skin, and he barely touched it. To the waiter’s credit, he noticed that the dish was essentially untouched and asked «bad?» When we told him «cold,» he grabbed it away and disappeared, with no apology, but later removed it from the bill without being asked.
We skipped desert. There are too many fine dining options in Barcelona to give Citrus another try.

Muy bueno. Excelente relación calidad-​precio. Acogedor, limpio y con un servicio diligente, respetuoso y muy atento. Recomendable 100%!.

Estoy disgustada, este restaurante era uno de mis favoritos cuando buscaba relación-​precio-​ubicación, pero ha cambiado, ya no tiene una buena calidad preció, el precio se mantiene pero la caldad ha bajado y mucho y el servicio es lento y poco. Una verdadera pena, otro sitio al que no voy a volver

El restaurante Citrus me encanta, está en Paseo de Gracia, las vistas son muy bonitas, al hacer la reserva pedir en la ventana! trato, comida, precio, decoración, todo acompaña!

Pretty classy modern resto, with no nonsense waiter (Di me!) and some really nice dishes. Foi gras bon bons still have my attention. Eggs citrus, diced 4 minute eggs over matchstick potatoes with julienne ham… what’s not to like. Ordered a bunch of dishes to share for a 15:30 lunch. Mushroom risotto, tagliatelle with truffle and Camemberet, Ravioli with Crab Sauce, Foie Gras with Eggs poached in olive oil and the desserts were memorable. Whipped Greek yogurt with berry sorbet on the bottom. Wow!
Many well heeled Barceloneans seemed to partake. Not inexpensive, but then again, you are on the Passeig de Gracia a block from Gaudis Batlo. Que quieres de mas?

Very nice place, modern atmosphere and enjoyed the starkness of the orange color on black. Sort of stumbled on this place randomly but enjoyed the food I had, including the risotto with asparagus and the steak tartare.

Schick eingerichtet, Preise sind in ordnung! Es ist endlich auch mal kein Tapaslokal. Stilvolles Ambiente kombiniert mit preiswertem aber nicht billigem Essen. Wer in Barcelona mal schön essen gehen möchte und nicht gleich mit Schlips ins Sternelokal, der ist hier sicher gut aufgehoben!

Very pleasant dinning, some English spoken. We always struggle trying to choose a place for dinner but the views out of the second floor windows on the Passeig de Gracia cinched it for us. I enjoyed a traditional Catalan fish soup and a lamb shoulder dish that was tender and tasty. Prices in this area are high compared to the typical American restaurant but the life style is different. My recommendation is to sleep in until 8:00 am, have coffee con leche on the run along with some fresh fruit from one of the local markets, enjoy your main meal in the mid to late afternoon at a place like Citrus and then tapas and a beer or wine followed by cake and coffee or gelato to end the evening.

Este restaurante situado en el Passeig de Gràcia fue renovado completamente hace tres años. En aquel entonces representaba lo más in de la ciudad. Lugar ideal para reuniones de trabajo, agasajar a un cliente importante o simplemente gozar de una comida y un entorno inigualable. El restaurante se encuentra en un primer piso al que se accede, si se desea, por un ascensor panorámico de cristal. En la planta baja simplemente te informan si hay mesas libres o comprueban tu reserva.
Mi primera impresión no fue muy satisfactoria. Había hecho una reserva y nos hicieron esperar media hora de plantón para luego continuar la espera esta vez ya sentados en una mesa. Imagino que con el tiempo y la experiencia estos inconvenientes se han resuelto.
El local es increíblemente espacioso y cómodo y si tienes el privilegio de encontrar mesa junto la ventana, acogedor y agradable.
Además, con la nueva remodelación, puedes disfrutar de las obras del pintor Lluís Lleó enviadas especialmente desde Nueva York.
Citrus es diferente de los demás restaurantes no sólo por su ublicación y decoración sinó por su oferta gastronómica que potencia la cocina mediterránea. Sus platos no solamente tiene buena presentación sino que están riquísimos y en cantidad generosa. Algunas recomendaciones: Rascacielos de tomate y mozzarella con rúcula y olivada o las Milhojas de setas de temporada con huevo poché y virutas de foie.

es un restaurant muy bueno en calida, variedad y precio. es un lujo estar sentado en el primer piso observando el paseo de gracia.

One disadvantage is that you have to wait very long to get a table, even if you made a reservation (!), because the restaurant seems to be very popular for its value for money.

A mí me convence. El Citrus es uno de esos comodines de relación calidad-​precio irreprochable, que vienen muy bien a la hora de llevar a cenar a alguien que requiere un poco de cuidado en la presentación.
Es uno de esos restaurantes que-​parecen-​caros-​y-​después no-​lo-​son-​tanto. Está bien situado, la decoración es moderna, la atención muy correcta, el ambiente agradable, la comida está buena y las raciones te dejan satisfecho. Quien quiera más por menos que se vaya a pedir a Lurdes, porque es algo que en Barna no abunda.
De todas maneras, tampoco es un sitio que destaque por su arrolladora personalidad. No es un sitio del que puedas ser fan, porque se limita a aprobar en todas las asignaturas básicas, pero sin hacerse un lugar en el recuerdo.

Cuando alguien viene a visitarme a Barcelona y se emperra en ir aun lugar que le han comentado que es buenísimo, no puedo decir otra cosa que sea «pues vamos»…
Y eso em pasó con Citrus, un restaurante en pleno Paseo de Gracia, yo estaba reacia a entrar porque sabía que nos iban a clavar una estaca kilométrica a la hora de pagar.
Es uno de estos locales enormes, claro que no puede ser menos estando donde esta ubicado. Con grandes ventanales que dan mucha luz y distrae al comensal, con el movimiento urbano del exterior.
Fue caro, sí pero he reconocer que menos de lo que me esperaba, y las raciones de la comida no eran ridículas que ya es una costumbre en esta ciudad. tienen una cocina mediterránea de fusión y creativa pero sin grandes ornamentos.

El restaurante Citrus es un gran descubrimiento de no hace mucho tiempo. No tiene una gran entrada; está en una esquina del Passeig de Gràcia, con lo cual, si paseas quizá no lo veas a primera vista; no se habla de él tanto como de algunos otros de la misma zona…, pero creo humildemente que es de lo mejorcito de un Passeig de Gràcia con menos gracia de lo que sería deseable en cuanto a restauración se refiere.
Si vais, está muy bien poder pedirse mesa junto a la ventana –una de las muchas que dan luz y vistas al restaurante-​, para poder contemplar todo el Passeig de Gràcia desde tu cómoda silla y una copa de vino en mano. El restaurante es de los grandes y espaciosos, así que no padeceréis estrecheces con la mesa de al lado; aunque sí es cierto que a veces cuesta que te vean en un entorno tan amplio (tenéis que ir con alguien alto). También tienen reservados, que os podéis reservar para una reunión de trabajo o de placer.
Y hablando de placer, la comida acostumbra a estar bastante buena, y en cantidades dignas: es cocina mediterránea con cierta renovación y sofisticación, pero sin pasarse (sólo os digo que uno de mis platos preferidos es algo tan aparentemente basto como los huevos estrellados: patatas, huevos fritos, jamón… Argg…). También tienen buenas carnes con verduras a la brasa, ensaladas interesantes y un par de postres de vicio.
Tiene una buena relación triangular calidad-​precio-​cantidad, cosa que en esta ciudad no es nada fácil.

Die Stadt ist zum Verlieben, die Menschen herzlich und aufgeschlossen, das Flair einzigartig.
In dieses Bild passt Citrus perfekt. Wer in einer lauen Sommernacht oben im ersten Stock, in schönem modernen Ambiente bei geöffneten Fenstern, gleich ob mit Freunden, Geschäftspartnern oder einem Rendevouz die köstlichen Speisen und Getränke genießt, wird sich schnell in diesen Laden verlieben.
Selbst war ich schon ein Dutzend mal. Ganz gleich zu welcher Jahres– oder Tages-​/​Nachtzeit eine Reservierung im Voraus lohnt sich allemal. Selbst dann sind Wartezeiten von bis zu einer halben Stunde nicht ausgeschlossen.
Das Essen entspricht gehobenem Standard, dementsprechend sind die Preise. Der Service ist sehr freundlich, zuvorkommend und versucht jeden Wunsch wahr zu machen.
Alles in Allem ein toller Laden, den man Freunden stets gerne weiterempfiehlt.

A great choice in central Barcelona. Dine in a relaxed and modern atmosphere with a view of Passeig de Gracia through the large windows. The menu presents you with a large selection of appetizers, starters, meat and fish at very reasonable prices. The 5-​Lettuce Salad is delicious. The friendly and attentive (English-​speaking staff will see to your needs. Citrus is great for a small group, couples, or business dinners. Since it is popular, reservations are recommended (even same-​day), or expect to wait a bit. All in all, great food at a very fair price.

Das Citrus liegt mitten im Geschehen und bietet Platz für einige Gäste. Das war es dann aber auch, da uns leider kalte Gerichte präsentiert wurden und das noch nicht mal schnell. Da es in der Straße noch genügend attraktive Alternativen und Tapas bars gibt würde ich diese vorziehen.

Essai raté…
Pourtant tout semblait bien parti: bonne localisation, cadre sympathique, carte alléchante… Mais une fois à l’intérieur on commence par… attendre, comme souvent dans les restos barcelonnais ! On vous prédit 20 minutes d’attente «sans problème», on a pu avoir une table 1h15 après. Vu l’heure tardive (heureusement ils servent tard…) nous né pouvions partir à la recherché d’un autre restaurant. L’ordre de placement n’a rien à voir avec la soi-​disant liste d’attente, il est plus en rapport avec le sexe des personnes et leur look ! Une fois installés, enfin, à table, le service est correct mais sans chaleur. Les plats sont, ils faut le dire, bons et assez copieux. Le vin servi était bon, mais malheureusement insuffisant pour effacer la mauvaise impression laissée par l’ensemble. Alors plutôt que perdre votre temps, passez votre chemin, il y a tant de bons et sympathiques restaurants dans Barcelone !

La máxima del Citrus es tratar de ofrecer a un precio más o menos asequible (esto supongo que depende del bolsillo de cada uno) platos de nombre rimbombante y compleja preparación.
El local, decorado con grandes ventanales, da al paseo de Gràcia, lo que lo convierte en un escenario perfecto para una cita o una cena tranquila con amigos.
El servicio es excelente y el restaurantes ofrece una amplia carta muy bien equilibrada y que no flojea en ningún apartado: carnes, pescado, arroces, ensalada y unos deliciosos postres.
Aunque el restaurante tiene bastantes mesas, es conveniente realizar una reserva.

Les serveurs franchement désagréables… Plus d’une heure pour obtenir un plat (qui était à priori pas courant: une entrecôte…) Mauvais souvenirs donc… une déco pas vraiment géniale… un endroit bruyant.

Para no volver
Llamé el lunes 3÷9÷2007 para reservar mesa para 4 para el martes 4÷9÷2007 a las 21.30. Me atendieron correctamente sin ningún problema. El problema apareció el 4÷9÷2007 a las 21.25, cuando al preguntar por nuestra mesa a la chica, mu guapa ella, que se encontraba en la entrada, nos contesto que todavía no teníamos mesa libre. Le dijimos que habíamos reservado expresamente para no tener que esperar pero no pudimos hacer nada. Después de 20 minutos nos fuimos, y bastante cabreados.

Un resto très sympa sur le passeig de Gracia, y aller pour la vue qui est magnifique. Ce qui est dans l’assiette n’est pas mal non plus, avec une cuisine méditerranéenne toute en finesse, aérienne !

Bön rapport qualité-​prix mais rien d’original par rapport à ce que peut proposer Barcelone. Service un peu long.

Restaurante más agradable de Barcelona
El trato es estupendo, carta de vinos completa, los platos son muy imaginativos pero sin salirse del gusto mediterrano ni entrando en la cocina francesa (ya sabeis mucho plato y poca comida). Vistas encomiables y Unos postres de la casa para chuparse los dedos. Y lo más importante no es un sitio «carisimo».
