Props to Estudiantil for staying open until midnight even on Sundays. The outdoor seating area is very pleasant and good for people-​watching. I ordered a glass of sangria — it was just OK, with a big pile of sugar in the bottom of the glass that got pulled up through the straw on my first sip. The service was also a bit curt. I didn’t try the food.

Started with of-​course «SANGRIA», the server does run, smile, greet and go go go… He is very attentive and make sure that your order is into your liking…
Location: easy access with the Universitat metro. If you don’t like the smell of smoke this bar has a lot of smoker because of the openness of the bar probably or maybe just the night. Its located on a busy street
Drink: sangria is perfectly blend. Fairly price.
Food: i ordered grilled chicken, salad and potatoes: all i can say is absolute basic but delicious. Good price.
It came out really fast too…
Overall experience: i had a great time

Un clásico de Barcelona, uno de esos pocos locales que han sobrevivido muchos años sin convertirse en una tienda de fast fashion.
El local es espaciosos y su terraza uno de los lugares favoritos de muchos turistas, no esperes grandes comidas, pero no esta mal si quieres visitar un pedazo de historia de la ciudad.

I will give this place 3 stars only because it was convenient and their food is okay at best.
My husband and I were wandering around this city looking for a place to eat because we were starving on a Saturday afternoon. If you are new to Barcelona, you will find that many places are closed on Saturday and Sunday. It is really quite frustrating, but I understand that it their culture here. This place was one of few that were open along the way to finding a meal, Anyway, back to the restaurant…
It is directly in front of the Barcelona University so I assume they are really just catering to students. We didn’t really realize it until we sat down. We had heard paella is THE THING to eat in Barcelona so we naturally ordered it. We ordered it, ate it. And while I was intrigued by the whole concept, my husband said it was lacking in taste. We did a quick google and found out that the Paellador stuff is crap! The sign outside of the restaurant and on their menu clearly says «Paellador» which is a company that makes, freezes, and allows restaurants to quickly serve up paella to any unsuspecting tourist. After finding this out, we have found many Paellador signs all around town. Do yourself a favor and save the money (it was around 14 – 15 €), google this stuff and educate yourself. You must go to a restaurant that has a paella minimum of 2 people ordering. This is because paella is labor intensive. It will typically take 30 minutes to make it authentic and from scratch. Otherwise it is the frozen stuff or made in a huge batch in the morning.
Our other food items and drinks were overpriced and really nothing to be excited about. We got some anchovies which were extremely salty, some «meat» croquettes that turned out to be tuna (it was decent), and papitas bravas. The fried potatoes were actually pretty good. Had a beer and a fanta drink. Totaled to be about 37 €. One of our most unsatisfying and more expensive meals in Barcelona. Perhaps have some tapas if you must come here, but avoid the paella.

My husband and I were looking for somewhere, anywhere, to eat after nearly 24 hours of straight travel. The hotel concierge practically laughed us out of the lobby when we wanted to eat dinner at 6PM, so we wandered around the University in the hopes of finding a café to eat at.
We decided on this place because it had a menu in English and café seating. The food was pretty expensive, but our Paellas were good. The waiter was incredibly patient, and spoke English, both of which we appreciated.
If you’re looking for a special, authentic meal, this isn’t it, but it was great for what we needed at the time.

En este bar siempre estudias la posibilidad de irte a otro local sobre todo si está llena su terraza, quizás el único punto fuerte que tiene para no ser un bar del montón. En ella podrás descansar después de una tarde de compras por el centro, o simplemente hacer unas cervezas a primera tarde.
Sus precios son más bien de pub. Se nota que mucha de su clientela es guiri, y que deben pagar una pasta en licencias al ayuntamiento. Para variar el pincho brilla por su ausencia.
Dentro tiene un gran pantalla y los días de fútbol es un reducto para aficionados que gustan de ver los partidos rodeados de gente dispar. También ponen los partidos de baloncesto, aunque éstos no los ve nadie. Por las mañanas abre bien pronto y puede ser una cutre alternativa a un after, sobre todo si lo que te pide el cuerpo es algo de comer.
A los camareros los apuntamos también a un curso de simpatía.

La verdad es que irónicamente el Estudiantil no está muy enfocado al cliente de posibilidades económicas precarias como las de los estudiantes.
Tiene una terraza increible, que en los meses de primavera te llama cual sirena de la Odisea y te obliga a faltar a clase día sí y día también. Es una zona tranquila para sentarse, con mucha gente y buen clima, pero sigo pensando que es muy caro para la gente de a pie.
En invierno pierde fuerza aunque la parte de dentro es bastante amplia como para entrar a desayunar o a guarecerse de la lluvia durante el otoño.

El Estudiantil tiene, de dirigido a los estudiantes, únicamente el nombre. Es verdad que hacen sesiones interesantes de Jazz y Jam Session, que ir un día no hace daño a nadie y que, quizá antes, estaba lleno a rebosar de estudiantes, pero ahora el negocio parece más enfocado a captar clientes extranjeros que a los del lugar.
Los precios son excesivamente caros, la zona es guiri a más no poder y no posee ninguna característica diferencial, a excepción de la terraza, que lo convierta en un bar recomendable para tomar algo.

Hombre, pues el Estudiantil tampoco es que tenga precios estudiantiles precisamente, todo sea dicho antes de empezar. Pero supongo que si anduviera estudiando todavía me haría gracia tener un bar tan cerca de la facultad y en la misma Plaza Universitat. Imagino que originalmente el bar tuvo su sentido, pero con el tiempo ha acabado poniendo el ojo más en el turista que transita por el centro.
No ofrece demasiados riesgos (me han contado alguna historia de robos y de skaters que salen disparados, pero obviémoslo). Así que para una caña rápida, está bien, pero yo propongo continuar la fiesta en otro lado.

La vida nocturna universitaria de Barcelona empieza y termina en El Estudiantil, en plena Plaça Universitat. Y es que lo que más llama la atención de este local es que parece no cerrar nunca.
Es un bar de tapas económico, con comida aceptablemente buena y un ambiente universitario que puede ser una espada de doble filo, ya que puede echar para atrás a cualquiera que llegue de fuera.
Gana muchísimo en verano y primavera, cuado llega el buen tiempo, gracias a su terraza.
