this was the nicest meal that my husband and i had during our stay in barcelona. since i was very tired from walking around all day under the hot sun, he agreed to let me pick a nice, quiet, sit-down restaurant for dinner. good thing Unilocal exists in spain and barcelona b/c i was able to find this place just a couple of blocks from la sagrada, which was the last site that we visited on that day. we arrived a little after 2000, and although the restaurant was officially open for dinner(according to Unilocal), they didn’t quite appear to be up and running, since all of the doors were closed, there were no patrons inside, and most of the tables weren’t set up with silverware and dishes. after poking my head inside the front door, i was told that they were open for business and that we were welcome inside. upon checking in on my Unilocal app, i was entitled to «1 copa de cava gratis» which is one glass of cava wine for free! hubby and i actually split this drink and it was quite good, nice and sweet, without a bitter aftertaste. after perusing the menus, hubby and i knew that we wanted to get the prix fixe meal for € 22 each, which included an appetizer, main, and dessert. i ordered the salad & salmon, and hubby ordered a mixed appetizer plate & hamburger with fries. we requested a basket of bread to start, and were pleased when they brought over a basket of the traditional catalan-style tomato bread. i’d come to love this bread since their combination of tomato paste and salt on white bread was just so delicious! like many other restaurants, the bread basket is not complimentary, and we were charged € 2,50 for the catalan bread. the salad was pretty standard, greens, tomatoes, carrots with light dressing. the veggies were cold and fresh which was definitely refreshing on this very warm autumn day. the salmon was juicy and delish, and even though it was slightly blackened(which i’m not a fan of), it was still very tender and delicious. the chef had garnished the fish with julienned carrots and zucchini which made for a lovely presentation. there were also two sauces on the side, one of which appeared to be a creamy dill sauce, the other an oil-based sauce. i didn’t use either since i liked my fish just the way it was! the mixed appetizer plate consisted of a ball of cheese, roasted red peppers, and zucchini. the ball of cheese was literally a spherical shaped cheese, maybe slightly bigger than a golf ball. it was smoked, hence the darker outer layer, but very tasty! the peppers and zucchini were roasted with a little olive oil, sprinkled with some herbs, and very savory. i didn’t try any of my husband’s burger, but he said that it was just average, on par with the average american burger. he thought the fries were just ok, nothing to write home about. for dessert, we opted to share the sorbet since we were pretty full, and politely declined the second dessert(since our two prix fixe meals included two individual desserts). four mini scoops of sorbet were served in a clear glass, with two spoons for us to share. i believe they were an assortment of raspberry and strawberry sorbet, and very refreshing, the perfect ending to a delicious meal. service was generally good, and most of them spoke good english, making it easier to communicate our requests. however, at the end, when we were attempting to pay the bill, they had some difficulties getting an internet connection for their card reader, so we had to wait a bit before they could scan our credit card. definitely something that we don’t see in the states! overall, this was a very nice restaurant and i would highly recommend it for a date night or other special occasion.

¡Brillanteeeees!

Small portions but very tasty! Service was excellent, a nice charming place for food. Mojito’s and the lamb with scallops were the highlights of the night.
