Best tapas I’ve had so far. Try the cannabis and curry ice cream OUTOFCONTROL. I was very impressed with everything.

Tears-To-Your-Eyes Fantastic! I’ve eaten in many restaurants on both sides of a few oceans, and the mind-blowing creativity and quality of the food here made me start questioning my own idea of what flavor is supposed to be. The imaginative parings of flavors like the New Zealand Rack of Lamb that combines Tandoori Masala Mashed Potatoes with a Chimmi Churri sauce had me really examining what my brain thought my mouth was tasting. Fried Shrimp on Basil Ice Cream with Pesto Sauce.(Yes, Basil Ice Cream). The parings of hot and cold, smooth and crunchy make each plate seem like a mad scientist is in the kitchen experimenting with things nobody ever has before, and the result is stimulating. There’s an artful list of other full-flavored menu items, the service is friendly, caring and quick. My server, and the owner who came to welcome us in English were involved in every step of the celebration of food I experienced. If you’re in Barcelona, forget about the more«famous» places with their 15 courses of tiny food. It’s worth the effort to find Gilda because you just won’t believe your eyes or your tongue.

One of my favorite restaurants in Barcelona. Delicious mix of flavors in every dish. We tried the shrimp with curry ice cream, the lamp chops and the waffles, and loved every dish.

Last day in Barcelona, Good Friday and we just got back from a day trip to Andorra. This place was right by our hotel so we decided to stop in knowing it would be busy for a final meal in Spain. Fantastic choice. I had the beef filet cooked rare and it came out perfect. The vegetables were cut like sticks and then tied together with a piece of seaweed. My wife got the mussels which were the biggest I’ve ever seen. Damn! The service was excellent all around and I would recommend stopping by for a nice sangria(watched as they made some and it’s a lot stronger than your typical sangria — like a Long Island sangria) at the bar or a nice meal in the restaurant. Since this was off the beaten path, the prices were MUCH more reasonable than eating on Les Rambles, and tastier!

Barcelona has a TON of tapas bars, and if you are anywhere in or around the old city, you will be inundated with them. The area that Gilda is in is known for having great tapas, and the restaurants here run the gauntlet from super modern to totally old school. Gilda is on the super modern side of the spectrum, both in atmosphere and food. Most of their dishes are Belgian and not Spanish, despite the tapas name. Even their classic Spanish dishes are not very classic; many of them have been tweaked quite a bit. You might or might not like this. Their prices are also pretty high, although some of their dishes are a good value. While the meal was somewhat enjoyable, we were mostly disappointed. We had: Fois Gras: Neither of us have ever had this dish before, and we don’t ever plan to again. However, we had to try it once in our lifetimes, and the price was right for a small portion. This dish was very well done(although we didn’t have other fois gras experiences to compare it to), and was the highlight of our experience here. Spinach Croquettes: Pretty good. Patatas Bravas: Woah, waaay too much going on here. Too many flavors hastily thrown together made for an un-enjoyable dish. We tried patatas bravas at every tapas place we went, and this was by far the worst. Don’t get it. Catalan(Tomato) Bread: Way too many tomatoes, they overpowered the dish. Not enough of the other flavors that make this bread so great. Another pass. Wine: Very expensive and not a very good list. We were disappointed. Service: Very slow. Even for Spanish standards. There are better choices around.

One of the best restaurants in Barcelona, they have a very special menu with some fusion plates like shrimps with curry ice cream which is a must to try, also the chicken with ginger ice cream and since am from middle east I can assure you that they have the best hummus as one of many other special tapas. Staff is very friendly and helpful and ASK Ricardo for his special black mojito cocktail 100% recommend place

My boyfriend and I were staying very close by to this glorious restaurant. We looked it up on Unilocal and it had excellent reviews. We were there the first week in June so things had not gotten really busy in Barcelona yet. We had no reservations but it was a weekday. No problem getting seated and we got our drinks right away. Fabulous drinks no skimping. I don’t remember what my boyfriend had but I do remember we had the meatballs as apetizers, croquetas and as my main course I had the lamb. I was sucking on the bone much to my embarrasment! OMG it was the absolute best lamb I have had in my life. I have beeen to many, many 5 star restaurants in my life and Gilda is by far the best meal I had in Barcelona. And we honestly ate our way through the city the 7 days we were there. If you want unbelieveably good food do yourself a favor go to Gilda!

I hate writing reviews like this, but we were so chapped by our experience here that I felt like it needed to be done. Maybe Gilda’s management will read this and make it a teachable moment… We had the bright idea that we’d go to 3 – 4 different tapas bars around Barrio Gotic and El Born. This was our first stop. We talked to a staff person and were seated in the bar. We waited between 15 – 20 minutes without being acknowledged again. No menus, no water, no eye contact. We totally understand places getting busy and servers getting in the weeds, but a simple acknowledgment and apology would have gone a long way with us. As it was, we finally got up and left, truly lamenting — for the first time in two weeks — rude service and a food culture in which staff doesn’t work for tips. When we told the guy at the bar we were leaving, he just shrugged. No apology, no nothin’. It wasn’t his money that was walking out the door, after all. I felt bad for the poor owner of this place. It was embarrassing.

We were a group of 14, organising monthly a diner. This time we choose Belgium cuisine at Gilda by Belgious. Food was great, atmosphere was nice, service was good, and the free chupitos were tasty. For starter we had the Belgian cheese and shrimp crockets, Mussels à la Belge, humus, and pan con tomate, a marvellous start! After we had Stoofvlees with fries and mayonaise, steak frit with pepper sauce and tuna tataki, again yummie! For desert dame blanche and lemon sorbet with vodka and chocolate mousse, the perfect ending. We definetly will come back soon!

Delightful, small, Spanish twist to some Belgian food. We had stew,(great), and tenderloin,(very good), preceded by some croquet with spinach, et al. Also very good. Only 1 wine per varietal available per glass, but a list is available. The Belgian ice cream with cinnamon WAS a nice finish. Young start up restaurant, Sade playing over and over, youngsters coming in, and so try it since it was inexpensive.

We made a reservation there because they had very high ranking on trip advisor and that’s what most reviewers were recommending, but that was not necessary. There were plenty of spaces and we were seated very promptly. Food was not bad, but definitely nothing to write home about. The steak was very bland, but the stew was very good. Decent appetizers and quality sangria. Very good service and nice and romantic place inside. Overall — I’d recommend it, but I’d suggest opting out of steaks. Dinner for two with drinks was 50 euro — reasonable for the area. It’s right in the heart of the old city.

Delicious food, highly recommend the beef stew, salmon, steak with green pepper sauce and frites. Desserts and drinks were spectacular and the service was outstanding. The owner Michel came out to greet us and the waiters were super attentive. The whole family enjoyed our meal. It was yummy!

Outstanding service. The owner Michael greeted us and was clearly passionate about his food and his place. Great ambiance with exceptional and unique food. Tapas with a Belgian/Argentine twist. Definitely try the ceviche. It’s the best I’ve had in Barcelona and it pairs well with the Belgian beer on tap. If you’re looking for a good wine, ask Michael for a recommendation, he was quite knowledgeable about the local wines.

Great find. Great food. Great drinks. Amazing stuff. The owner really puts his heart and soul into this tapas bar because it shows. I highly recommend ordering what the staff there likes. We did that and they were on point with their suggestions. Going to Gilda was such a great experience for a foodie or for someone who wants to experience Barcelona like a local. .we will be heading back again. Order the ceviche and potatoes bravas.

Excellent service and innovative food. They have menus in 6 languages which worked out well for me and my girlfriend. The crispy prawns with curry ice cream is one of the more memorable dishes ive ever had. Good mix of traditional Catalan and Belgian cuisine.

Not a typical spanish bar but definitely recommendable! We went here on our first night at Barcelona. We didn’t have a clue where to go and everything else was either packed or entirely empty which is always a very bad sign. Tables and the bar are in seperate rooms which is good for the noise level while having lunch/dinner. The bar is quite fancy as well is the food. You’ll find traditional spanish tapas and main dishes at the menu as well as nice specials from belgium. The owner is from belgium. We had tapas that night but the main dishes people had around us looked very good too. The service was decent and honest that night. I appreciated very much, that the owner of the restaurant/bar come to the tables to have a little chat with the people, give recommendation etc. For me this is the little extra thing that distinguishes a good location from a very good location. I’ll most likely come here again on my next stay in Barcelona.

Service: Die 2.

My husband and I stumbled upon this place one night while looking for a few tasty tapas in Barcelona. As we quizzically peered in, a nice guy who I assume was the owner or manager came out and told us about this place. A blend of Spanish and Belgian food, he said. I was sold. We had to wait for just a bit but got a table near the front. The guy helping us explained they had a party of 20+ people come in so things were more hectic than usual. Right on. We sipped wine and checked out the menu. We decided to try the fried camembert cheese(because how could that combination be any less than amazing?) and the fried shrimp with spinach and curry ice cream(because the combination sounded ridiculous enough that it MIGHTJUSTWORK). The latter combination did indeed work. It was like eating shrimp with curry sauce except there was that whole hot and cold combination. I was impressed. And the fried cheese was delicious and cheesy. If I had more time in Barcelona, I would have come back to try more things, but it was time to move on. Service was good and prices were fair. I’m glad to have stumbled upon this spot.
