Agut

Two waiters who spoke very little English or choose not to. My wife could barely get past the grumpiness of the waiter who looked after us.
It didn’t seem to bother them either of that three of the dishes were left half eaten.
The restaurant has two prices for most dishes half portion and otherwise. We didn’t realize the default setting was the larger portion! Four dishes and a € 16 bottle of cava for € 93 where there was only one edible dish was beyond disappointing! It did occur to me half way through our meal that we were never asked but the portions were not a source of alarm at all– I can’t begin to wonder how small the half portions were!
Starter: anchovies (shared) — very very basic and far from fresh, anchovies tasted canned
Mains:
steak with Roquefort sauce — inedible — never got asked how it should be cooked and it was cooked rare, the insides of the steak were chewy and probably not the right amount of cooking for the cut of meat.
Monkfish stew– was good but was Unidimensional– only one flavor and nothing uncommon about it. Only dish that was eaten.
Desert (shared)
Flan with raspberry coolie– smelled so bad of eggs that we couldn’t eat it. The coolie was definitely not fresh and we tried to hide the smell of the eggs with the coolie until we realized it wasn’t worth it!
The earlier reviews for this place are a bit of a sham we reckon.

We were in town for a trade show, never having been to Barcelona before. A colleague highly recommended this restaurant, and we were *not* disappointed! The appetizers were excellent — the jamon, tomato bread, and artichokes were excellent, and while you could find all of them at other local tapas restaurants, these were far better than the usual. Then, the main courses — I had the cabrito (leg of goat) which was done to perfection, with the slightest bit of crispy fat on the outside, and tender, tasty meat surrounding the bone. My colleague’s oxtail in red wine sauce was stewed to perfection, with excellent mushrooms and onion. An awesome local find in the Gothic Quarter.

Excellent cuisine which departs from the routine octopus, anchovies, jamon, etc. etc. Fresh, seasonal ingredients and subtle flavored allow you to sample many things without being overfill. The daily menu is a treat — worth trying many half portions to share. The ambience is romantic and classy, but patronage are decidedly casual — making it the perfect spot for food-​lovers who aren’t into flash. Babies welcome. Work up an appetite before you come!

Bön petit restaurant gastronomique trouvé grâce au Lonely planet. Le personnel est très accueillant, le cadre un peu vieillot. Adresse incontournable qui vous ravira les papilles!

Barcelone né se limite pas aux seuls bars à tapas, bar à Pinchos ou fast food où l’on entre comme à la maison, bien heureusement il y a aussi bon nombre de restaurants traditionnels présentant des cartes de qualité, dans un cadre sobre mais toujours accessible, c’est le cas du Restaurant AGUT.
Une cuisine simple, mais tout en finesse, j’avais pour ma part, choisi une assiette de poissons grillés, qui me laisse un excellent souvenir, les produits étaient frais, et le plat copieux, accompagné d’un petit Rueda bien frais.
Nous étions 4, et bien que le cadre soit plutôt classique, avec ses tables nappées, ses verres à pieds et serveurs aux tenues impeccables, il se dégageait une ambiance décontractée et nous avons passé un super moment.
Il est préférable de reserver, nous étions passé en début de soirée pour réserver une table pour le deuxième service !

We stumbled across Agut as we were wandering around the city and were part of the «early» crowd at around 9:30. We noticed a couple of groups of locals, but the place was mostly empty. As the night went on the place filled up, so it seems to have a decent local following. As I recall we had a monkfish dish and bacalao as well. The fish was perfectly prepared and the flavors were great. This was a good local find and the final bill for the two of us with a couple of courses and wine ran us a little under $ 75. In the States I would have paid a little more for a meal of similar quality, so I feel like we had a good experience and would recommend you get lost and find Agut as well.

De vez en cuando a uno le apetece darse un homenaje en forma de una buena comida. En estos casos a veces tiran los caprichitos de diseño, pero muchas otras lo que buscamos es una garantía, un restaurante tradicional, pero de cierto nivel.
Para todo eso, funciona a las mil maravillas el Agut, incluso es inmejorable para quedar bien si tenemos un compromiso ante el que nos queremos lucir: un emblema de la restauración barcelonesa, un clásico de la cocina catalana, un local como los de antes –fundado en 1924– en los que podremos dar rienda suelta a nuestras inquietudes como gourmets con un equilibrio casi inmejorable entre tradición y sofisticación.

El de siempre
Muy cerca del mar, en una estrecha calle, se encuentra este restaurante en el que las comidas, estilo tradicional catalán, son de una gran calidad. Local agradable sin más y trato muy correcto. Conviene reservar mesa, pues hay siempre mucha demanda

Trop bon
Un super bon resto, pas cher pour la qualité des plats. A essayer absolument, c’est bon !

Cocina catalana bien hecha
El Agut es el sitio ideal para conocer y disfrutar la cocina catalana. Es un restaurante pequeño y acojedor (pero las mesas para dos personas están demasiado juntas) situado cerca del centro. Es aconsejable reservar (todos los días de la semana).

restaurante tranquilo
Un tipico restaurante barcelonés de barrio, un lugar muy tranquilo, ideal para residentes y trabajadores de la zona, por un precio nada elevado puedes comer bien. La carta es variada hay de todo, destaco los tipicos platos de cataluña y los postres, caseros y sabrosos. El local esta climatizado

Un must
Très bon rapport qualité/​prix. Pour un peu on qualifierait la cuisine de l’Agut de «rafinée». En tout cas la sélection de la matière première, principalement constituée de poissons et de fruits de mer est exceptionnelle. Le vin est aussi bien choisi. Quant à l’accueil, on est loin du sort réservé aux visiteurs sur la place Real ou sur la Rambla: les serveuses sont vraiment sympathiques, voire «almodovariennes»! Deux salles de taille moyenne décorées de croutes (meme au plafond) renforce l’attrait de l’endroit. Bref un must absolu à Barcelona. Réservation indispensable (et longtemps à l’avance).
