I am from Barcelona and I always was curious to try this restaurant, as it is always full with locals. The quality of the food is really nice, we order Paella seafood, Paella valenciana and rice with sausage and mushrooms, as well prawns with garlic, and it was all really good and enough.

The service was poor but the location and the food negated the service issues. The restaurant is situated right on the marina and sitting outside gives you a front row seat to beautiful views and ample opportunities to people watch. The food was fresh and delicious– we got a tuna and ratatouille appetizer and the octopus entrée! Such a great place to eat!

I figured a place with arroz in its name would be good for paella, but when we showed up to this area full of patio swaying filled with tourists and waiters trying to draw in business, I was immediately skeptical. The patio seating is nice, but I don’t really enjoy cigarette smoke with my food. The € 16 bottle of Rioja was pretty solid and was very easy to drink. Food: — Pan con tomate: soggy but a reasonable amount of tomato water — Iberico: I should put that in quotes. It was the lightest colored and most marbled«iberico» I’ve seen, presumably low grade if even real iberico. It was definitely salty and fatty, but it didn’t have the nuttiness and complex flavor it should have — Gazpacho: underwhelming — Paella con mariscos: we got the option without shells. The fish was tender, mussels were too fishy. The rice texture was good, but the dish was lacking in the way of additional ingredients. It did have a minimal but decent crust on some of the edges. If we had just gotten the paella and wine, maybe I would have given it 3 stars, but we felt like we were caught in a bad tourist trip and were otherwise just wasting our calorie allowance.

My friend and I went to this place with the expectation that the paella was going to be great… but unfortunately that wasn’t the case for my friend. I had the vegetarian paella which was good not great. However my poor friend had the saltiest seafood paella ever, now I know paella is supposed to be seasoned but it tasted awful, even the kind waitress(who refunded our money) agreed after trying it. The staff was great but unfortunately the food didn’t match.

My wife and I really enjoyed our meal at L’ Arros. Great location. The cool breeze, the smell of the ocean, the sounds of the street, and the people watching made for a nice environment. Very friendly and helpful staff. The fish soup was pretty good. Had a tumeric flavor which I enjoyed. My wife’s garlic shrimp appetizer was delicious. Very garlicy with some hot pepper oil that gave it a medium spiciness to it. We both loved it. I had the seafood paella and my wife had the chicken and shrimp paella. Both were very good. Crusty, creamy, tomatoey, and full of flavor. I would suggest letting the paella cool down for a good five minutes. It finishes off the melding of the flavors as well as prevents you from burning your tongue, which I did because I just wanted to dive right in.

My group felt that the tapas here we’re step up from the average tapas bar and the service and location are top notch — great place to go for a snack and a glass of wine though you pay for the location, if visiting the Catalan history museum in the port area — close to the Barcolanetta metro stop — try the Octopus tapa, my favorite dish!

The paella was good, but not fantastic. Appreciated how moist it was. The prawn, muscles, and fish were all pretty good. We had an appetizer of fresh razer clams that was also pretty good. Wasn’t thrilled that they brought bread without asking us and ended up charging us 3 € for the privilege. The paella serving sizes are smaller(individual and not to share like most neighboring paella joints), and the prices are almost twice as much as average(18 € a plate). The alcoholic drinks were also much more expensive than other comparable restaurants. Odd, since it’s located in a sea of other restaurants that its prices seem a bit out of step with the(admittedly touristy) neighborhood.

This is the best place to have paella in Barcelona. First time I came was with a Spanish friend over lunch and now I’m here with my husband on our honeymoon. It’s crazy packed since it’s Good Friday, but it’s usually rushed on lunch and dinner times. If you speak Spanish, they’ll find you a table faster. Enjoy!

On the main waterfront restaurant street, this restaurant is a level above the rest when it comes to its décor and fancy lighting. The owner sits at the entrance and greets you with a nice smile. People who work there are very friendly and will help with an English menu. Dark paella is dark and yummy :)

Our hotel receptionist recommended this restaurant as a great place that tourists and locals frequent alike so we decided to try it out. The atmosphere is nice and the wait staff is friendly. The restaurant is also situated in a fantastic little harbor-side strip, which is perfect for a pre/post-meal stroll. However, I was not at all impressed by the food we ordered. Perhaps we shouldn’t have ordered paellas? The seafood was lacking. The rice/noodles were both burnt and undercooked. It took a great effort(and not in a positive way) to finish off the paellas we ordered. In hindsight, a liter of sangria might have helped wash the food down. Alas, I’m off again in search of the perfect paella.

Mmmmm — paella! I’ve been told that Barcelona doesn’t do paella quite like other parts of Spain do, but L’Arros seems to be doing something right! We got here late after watching the Barca-Valencia match a bit down the street, and as a result the place was almost empty save for a few locals drinking a healthy amount of cava. Service was great and they accommodated my fiancée’s request to effectively«build her own» paella. I got a seafood paella and boy did it deliver! After a handful of cervezas down the street, nothing tasted better than slightly crispy rice, succulent shellfish and a pair of whole charred shrimp! Having tried it over in Barcelona, I feel up to the challenge of trying to make it at home! Got myself some local saffron and rice; I’m sure it will be a letdown from L’Arros, but maybe I can get 75% of the way there!

Near Barceloneta Beach in Spain. Lovely outdoor, but covered dining area allows diners to enjoy sea winds and the view while protected from(what can be) the brutal sun. The paella dishes are varied, even vegetarians will be happy. Unlike many«arroserias,» L’Arros did not mind that we shared one paella dish. There are tapas, but not as good as the paella. The waitstaff is truly eager to please.

What a great spot for a leisurely Saturday afternoon lunch of sangria, paella and people-watching.
