Marmalade

Came to Marmalade once for dinner and once for drinks. Marmalade supposedly opens at 6:30 PM for dinner, but our waiter told us the kitchen didn’t open until 7. We ordered burgers at 7 and didn’t receive them until around 7:45, which is a ridiculous wait for a burger.
As an American eating burgers abroad, I always judge them very harshly so I wasn’t super impressed. I got the Mexicano burger, which was tasty enough but the bread was completely soggy so I had to cut it into pieces to eat. My sister got the Classico burger and it was unimpressive. The best thing we got was the goat cheese salad… it’s amazing.
Drinks are also good and well-​priced for most of the cocktails. Great ambiance inside for a nice place to get drinks with girlfriends.

The meal was amazing… just like the sister «milk bar» but the service here was absolutely awful… and I’m one to usually give them the benefit of the doubt. We felt like a burden the entire meal, but the venue is beautiful. Just go with good company :)

Food was amazing and such great pricing for what you get. It was the first time I had a good full sized breakfast, been missing that from the states. Marmalade and Milk have the exact same menu and I just loved Marmalade’s ambiance. I am going again because there is so much on the menu I want to try. Waitstaff spoke English and was very helpful.

Arrived here for brunch around noon and the restaurant was nearly empty. We were immediately greeted and sat inside opposite the bar.
We ordered from the brunch menu. My girlfriend had the triple whammy burger and I had the eggs Benedict. With this entrée you can also get a drink and desert for around 9.50 € each.
We were both extremely satisfied with the meal and would go back if we had more time to stay in Barcelona. You can’t go wrong here.

We are three Americans in Europe and were craving a nice big breakfast reminiscent of those we are accustomed to in the States. Marmalade absolutely satisfied that craving, as well as was pleasantly surprising upon entry with some great ambiance and truly nice servers. Would go again if in Barcelona!

Nada mas entrar notas que tiene algo distinto, tiene una decoración bonita.
La carta no es muy extensa, pero es bastante original, en cuanto a precio no es nada caro.
La hamburguesa cesar esta muy buena.
Por poner una pega el tiempo que han tardado en traer la cena.
Después de cenar la carta de postres era muy pequeña ya que casi no les quedaban postres.
Lo bueno ademas es que al acabar de cenar puedes tomar unos cocteles, o una gran variedad de bebidas ya que la carta de bebidas es grande y a buen precio.

Marmalade te impresiona tan sólo entrar por la puerta. La decoración y el ambiente está trabajado hasta el último detalle. Es un lugar tranquilo, con música calmada.
Mi primera experiencia se basó en un brunch. Es perfecto para volver a cargar baterías un domingo después de una dura noche de sábado. Recomiendo Tortillas Rancheras, para beber un correcto bloody mary y para finalizar; un pancake dulce con frutas del bosque. Observando otras mesas; las hamburguesas parecían deliciosas.
Mi segunda experiencia fue para cenar (Imprescindible reservar), es de aquellos lugares que aparecen en todas las guías y tienen las máximas consideraciones en tripadvisor, por tanto siempre está repleto. En esta ocasión, mi elección fue «Costillas de Cerdo a la Barbacoa» según la descripción en la carta enunciaba que habían sido lentamente cocidas al horno, suculentas y bañadas en salsa de barbacoa casera y acompañadas de nuestras patatas fritas. Se deshacen en la boca”. Si me pasaran por un detector de mentiras justo después de comerlas, gritaría «eso es verdad». Estas costillas se deshacen, se funden, se fusionan de una forma totalmente magistral. Hasta el momento no he probado ninguna mejor. Si alguien lo conoce, que me lo confiese por favor.
El servicio es atento, amable y rápido.

De los mejores brunch del raval. Todas las opciones del brunch clásico: benedictinos, tortitas, hamburguesas. los platos son abundantes. aunque el local dentro es bonito, es algo oscuro durante las horas del brunch.
de noche está bien para una cena informal y unos cócteles.
está muy bien de precio, comparado con otras opciones de st antoni-​raval para brunch que son caras y escasas.

Service was a bit slowish but dinner was very tasteful. We went there for a huge group dinner.

I definitely loved Marmalade more than Picnic for brunch in Barcelona. I loved the ambience, and the dramatic décor. Good service.
The brie-​burger. A fat chunk of melted brie on your burger. Fantabulous. With bacon, caramelized onions. Excellent bloody mary.
You cant go wrong with this joint for brunch.

Buena comida, platos simples, bien atendido. Para los que prestan atención a la musica de fondo, una selección muy fina.
Bien ambientado con unas copas que están a la altura y todo muy bien presentado.

J’ai adoré le MILK alors j’ai voulu me rendre dans ce deuxième établissement tenu par la même patronne. Elle est au passage extrêmement sympathique et chaleureuse. Elle se soucie de vous et de votre moment passé dans l’établissement. Perso j’ai été un peu déçue par mon omelette aux champignons jambons et oignons caramélisés mais connaissant le reste de la carte je pense n’avoir pas fait le bon choix…
Pas de jus d’orange frais, ce qui m’a aussi déçu (j’adore accompagner mes brunchs d’un jus frais) mais les smoothies comblent largement le manqué :-))) blueberry oat vanilla soja milk mmmmmh :-)))
Bref l’endroit est superbe avec son bar gigantesque c’est d’ailleurs la première chose que l’on voit en entrant, l’ambiance y est lounge mais pour moi ça né vaut pas le coup de cœur du MILK :-)

Sólo he ido dos veces, y en ambas la comida y la bebida han sido muy, muy buenos. El brunch es bastante popular aqui, cuentas con platos muy a la americana, desde pancakes a huevos rancheros (ver foto), platos generosos a precios correctos.
La primera vez que hice allí un brunch, opté por una hamburguesa, muy buena. El servicio, estando en las mesas de fuera, fue absolutamente desastroso. Una chica con cara de pocos amigos nos ignoró deliberadamente y la tuvimos que ir a buscar dentro, realmente MAAAAL. Esperamos eternamente a todo: que nos tomasen nota, que la comida llegase, se sirvieron las bebidas a destiempo y con mucha diferencia, no hay perdón de Dios.
Esta segunda vez, en el interior debido a un lleno casi total, nos atendieron mejor aunque aún se nota algo de descontrol, el chico que nos tomó nota vino 2 veces a tomarnos nota, la segunda vez nos quedamos perplejos. Pero bien, la comida llegó rápida, la mujer que nos atendió fue más que correcta, nos dieron mesa rápidamente sin tener reserva, y nos preguntaron si todo había estado bien. Quizá están rectificando.
Sin duda un muy buen lugar para tomar un brunch, la comida es excelente, de ahí la nota que le doy. Es conocido que el Bloody Mary es muy bueno aqui, aunque probé también un zumo de espinacas, plátano y otras frutas que estaba delicioso.
Recomendable, si no se siguen tropezando con el servicio. Salimos a 10 € por persona por 2 platos y 2 bebidas.

Hace tiempo que no había entrado en este lugar, como mínimo 10 años (antes tenía un nombre mas raro todavía: «el bar que pone muebles Navarro»). Queríamos tomar unos cocteles, entre cena + baile — y acertamos. La deco no es gran cosa pero está bien para una caña/​coctel, sin respirar el aire de un lugar snob ni de los demás sitios que lo rodean en este barrio de BCN.

The food is nothing special although they have a nice brunch menu, but the service is absolutely terrible, don’t even try to sit in the outside terrace, they never come out, and when they do they act as though they are doing you a huge favor by attending to you, with snide remarks etc. I really think theres a lot better places in barcelona ot go to than here…

Excellen Bloody Mary, very good eggs Benedict’s and cordial service. It is run by young people, kind of hipster, and very relax ambiance. I’m coming to try the chicken wings, they say are the best in Barcelona. Kind of tricky to get here but it is worth it.

To the rhythms of The Black Keys and Amy Winehouse one begins their experience at «Marmalade». Named after the the fruit preserve made with juice and peel, this hidden gem of Barcelona boasts a wide arrange of mixed cocktails and beers on tap. The restaurant is set in a SOHO-​esque style. The indie modular cube seating and lovely polished wooden tables enhance the lounge interior. If that doesn’t suite your pallet, there’s lovely outdoor seating in the nook of a neighborhood square.
Although known for it’s flawless brunch menu (Eggs Benedict is a local favorite), my party decided to venture out for a lovely candlelight dinner for about € 12 each. All burgers are cooked medium rare with fresh beef supplied by a family run Boqueria butcher. The fries cooked twice over pair nicely. The Messi is a personal favorite. The wings seasoned with a the lounge’s secret recipe are outstanding as well.
All in all the atmosphere, food, and polished experience will make you regret not coming back for seconds.

I came here on a night when walking sounded better than eating. With all the sights of Barcelona, I was too caught up seeing things, and eventually found it was quite late and I was quite hungry. What to do?
The right answer was a trip to Marmalade for dinner. I had BBQ ribs — not a Barcelona specialty, but a really filling meal when I needed it. As a solo diner, I felt comfortable, and light conversation with other customers was a nice benefit. My food was good, but not spectacular. However, I came back a couple days later for breakfast!
Breakfast was great — the coffee was perfect, and my eggs were just right. There’s a pleasant patio, and the servers are less hungover than the customers — so they are ready to help. Definitely stop in for breakfast, and good for dinner if you’re nearby.

Went here for brunch, went for eggs benedict and mimosa. All excellent, if you’re in Barcelona. Have this place on your list. Atmosphere super cool and relaxed. Loved it!

Ya había ido alguna vez al Marmalade, pero el pasado fin de semana tuve la oportunidad de hacer un brunch de buena mañana en su terracita, y tengo que decir que no está nada mal.
Como platos principales de brunch tienes varios para elegir: huevos benedict (en una torrada con beicon y salsa holandesa; están muy ricos, porque yo me los pedí y me gustaron bastante, y vienen con patatas a la plancha de acompañamiento por lo que es un plato bastante contundente), huevos salmón benedict, huevos florentine, Monte Cristo, Tortilla ranchera, tortilla vegetariana, hamburguesas con carne 100% de ternera (mi acompañante se pidió una y le encantó)… Ningún plato sobrepasa los 10 euros. También tienen otras cosas típicas como cava, mimosas, bloody marys… así como una selección de cafés, tés, smoothies, chocolate caliente, pancakes y hasta frutas y ensaladas.
El servicio es amable y el local es muy chulo y amplio aunque algo oscuro por lo que en verano recomiendo la terraza (tener cuidado con dejar los móviles u objetos de valor encima de la mesa o a la vista). La verdad es que me gustaría ir un día de estos a cenar o de copas un día, porque creo que la parte interior tiene que estar muy chula durante las noches. Seguro que vuelvo pronto :)

Four of us went to Milk for brunch on Easter Sunday. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait, or the restaurant would pay for a cab to take us to their sister restaurant, Marmalade, where they would have a table ready for us by the time we arrived. If that isn’t great service, I don’t know what is! We sat in the back area, which was decorated very tastefully. A friend and I split the ranchero omelet, which was wonderful. The chorizo and crème fraîche paired so nicely together, and the breakfast potatoes it came with were well-​seasoned and crispy. My bloody mary was pricey, but worth the money – super filling and spicy. My friend enjoyed her french toast and mimosa as well. After sitting and chatting for a while, we split an order of the lava cake, which was good but just like any lava cake out there. Our waitress was attentive, and we didn’t feel rushed.

La terraza está bastante agradable a pesar de que está en pleno Raval y hay un montón de coches y motos pasando todo el rato (¡cuidado con los móviles en la mesa!). El brunch está divino, tienen todo lo típico en el menú y más; Huevos Benedict, Huevos Florentine, Croque-​Monsieur, Hamburguesas, Frutas, Smoothies y… ¡Los cócteles! Porque seamos francos, el brunch es la excusa perfecta para alcoholizarse temprano y ahí tienen todos los que necesitas a partir de las 10AM; Bloody Mary, Bellini, Mimosas… En fin, en brunch de Marmalade está para volver.

Good food. It was open for brunch (you can get breakfast after 12 pm here: p). Very reasonable price & cool interior.

While we were in Barcelona, we discovered Milk which is the sister restaurant for Marmalade. We decided to try this place out for dinner and we made a reservation as well. We got here and we ordered the cheese plate, which was very amazing! I remember ordered a few cocktails which were decently priced and they were all good! The burgers were good, the ribs were good and the services was very attentive. I would definitely recommend coming here. It reminds of places you find in DTLA.

Me encantó Marmalade. Un lugar muy amplio, con tres zonas separadas según si vas a tomar algo o a comer y con una decoración muy original.
La luz tenue y la música de fondo hacen del Marmalade un lugar cómodo donde estar charlando.
Para tomar algo tienen una carta extensa de cocktails. Y para comer tienen varias hamburguesas, fajitas y un par de platos tipo costillar. Nosotros nos decantamos por hamburguesa, ¡y menuda hamburguesa! Estaba increíble, Wild West se llamaba, más ingredientes no podían acompañar a la hamburguesa: aros de cebolla, champiñones, bacon, queso cheddar y salsa barbacoa más las patatas del plato. La carne en su punto, deliciosa.
Lunes, martes y miércoles tienen cocktails a 3.50 € de 18:30 a 21h, y durante el fin de semana tienen opción brunch hasta las 16h.

Good place for brunch in Raval. Some of the best cocktails in town. Food is good, nothing special though, but the portions are big (the prices are also not on the cheap side). The atmosphere inside is super chick — something you don’t normally see in Barcelona. Oh and the waiters are very nice.

Menú super completo, entrantes para picar, hamburguesas, fajitas, etc. Todo lo que pedimos estaba riquísimo!
Ambiente y decoración excelente, además servicio de los camareros perfecto!
Y para concluir unos coctels geniales, repetiré sin duda.

Muy recomendable para hacer un brunch un domingo a media mañana. Tiene una carta extensa y variada tanto de huevos, ensaladas, sandwitches, zumos y batidos…
En mi caso me decanté por un croque madam muy original, ya que el pan en lugar de eso parecía más bien un pancake srevido con un tarrito de mermelada de arándanos para acompañarlo y la mezcla de dulce y salado fue una combinación perfecta.
En cuanto a la bebida hay mucha variedad, se pueden pedir batidos, zumos, cafés y como también es coctelería hay una gran variedad de opciones, pero en mi caso pedí un batido con leche de soja y frambuesas buenísimo!
Las ensaladas son generosas y originales, es por eso que no llegue a pedir postre, pero los pancaques que llevaban los camareros constantemente tenían tan buena pinta que sin duda en mi próxima visita los pediré.
Para dos personas pidiendo hamburguesa, croque madam, ensalada, batidos y cafes acabamos pagando unos 35 €.

Castellano: Bueno, el lugar estaba bien. La comida no era nada especial. El caramelo del ojo era mejor que la comida. Sus camareros eran muy agradables a la vista. Ellos eran muy serviciales. Ellos fueron capaces de hacer una reserva de última hora y el asiento 15 de nosotros. El problema que tenía era el huevos Benedict eran prácticamente los huevos duros. Un huevo escalfado perfectamente debería tener una yema líquida. Así que no estaba demasiado impresionado. Sin embargo, las tortitas que he probado de un amigo era muy bueno. Así que la calificación cae a la mitad para mí. Probablemente voy a probar suerte de nuevo para ver si el chef estaba teniendo un mal día con los huevos escalfados.
English: Meh. The place was nice enough, the eye candy was better than the food. Let’s just say that their servers were very nice to look at. I have to admit that they were very accommodating. They took a last minute reservation and seated a group of 15 of us, The problem I had was the Eggs Benedict were practically hard boiled eggs. A perfectly poached egg should have a runny yolk. So I wasn’t too impressed. However, the pancakes that I sampled from a friend were very good. So the rating falls down the middle for me. I will probably try my luck again to see if the chef was just having an off day with the poached eggs.

I’m a huge fan. Went to Marmalade for a friend’s birthday dinner and had the Wild West burger, which was fantastic, and a strawberry daiquiri, which went straight to my head (I have the alcohol tolerance of a hamster) but was delicious nonetheless. They also home-​make their own ketchup, which is a little spicier than regular ketchup — so great! Four of my friends ordered the Yoga Man (a veggie burger complete with cucumber yogurt) and raved about it. Actually, everyone who had a burger loved it. Prices were all reasonable — from what I remember from the rest of the menu, all of the burger entrees are under 10 euros, and the drinks are anywhere between 5 and 7ish. We also ordered a slice of apple pie for the birthday girl, and they brought it out with candles and everything.
Ambience is really nice, a kind of funky divey restaurant. It’s a little dark, though, so I wasn’t able to take as many pictures as I would have liked (although the food more than made up for that). All of my friends and I agreed that we’d be back before we left Barcelona — perhaps for their brunch next time, which is supposed to be great — although I’ll miss the burgers!

This place is decent. My husband and I decided to try this place out since it is the sister restaurant of MILK in the Barri Gothic district. We had such a great experience at MILK that we thought this place would be just as good.
Let me start by saying, because of the location, this restaurant is a few euros more than MILK itself although they both have the SAME EXACT menu. We went to brunch here and was disappointed when they handed us the same menu we saw.
The atmosphere was more of a sports bar than at MILK where it was a small dive cozy restaurant. They had a pool table on the left, TVs to watch at the bar and loud music playing in the restaurant.
The food was decent. I ordered the same Ranchera omelette i had before and it came out dry, and the potatoes weren’t cooked all the way so it was partially hard.
Husband and I had 2 café con leche 2 ranchera omelette with a water and it came out to be 37 euros.

Acabamos aquí tras dar mil vueltas buscando un lugar para desayunar. Al final entramos y vimos que existíà la opción de Brunch. Una opción bastante guay cuando has salido de fiesta la noche pasada y tu cuerpo necesita ingerir grandes cantidades de comida.
Un rollo muy internacional con una bonita decoración. Riquísimos los huevos benedict con salmón acompañados de patatas y un zumo. Eso revive a un muerto.
El precio, mejor si vas entre semana, ya que el finde es más caro.

Sehr leckere Mojitos. schöné Bar in dem doch so stressigen Barcelona, die Bedienung sind nett und die Atmosphere lädt ein.
Da würde ich nochmal hin.

Es enorme, está bien decorado, de techos muy altos, luz tenue y cuatro espacios distribuidos en forma de M. Un local trendy en el que tomarte unos cóckteles bien preparados –aunque he de reconocer que en el caso de mi Bloody Mary se excedieron con las salsa Perry’s-.
En cada uno de los 3 pasillos que forman las patas de la M hay mesitas pegadas a sus laterales para que puedas cenar –en pareja o en grupos de 3,4 personas-​. Tienen mesa de billar.
La verdad es que no recuerdo el tipo de música que ponen, lo mismo te digo que era Blues que electrónica tipo lounge… estuve mucho más a tento a la compañía y nuestra conversación que a lo que salía de los altavoces, soy incapaz de recordarlo… quizá la próxima vez.
Me gustaría destacar la preciosa lámpara que hay justo al final, o al principio, según se mire, de uno de los 3 pasillos: está hecha de ramas de árbol, plumas y objetos de vidrio, es una especie de nido gigante de urraca y me encanta ¡quiero copiarla y poner una similar en mi salón!

What is Marmalade? A very stylishly decorated lounge/​bar in the up and coming quarter of El Raval.
we were there early on a saturday night, so it wasn’t too crowded… that didn’t make the service any faster, but — hey, this is Spain. Sitting at the bar, I noshed on the Cajun fries which were basically fries with a dipping sauce that tasted like ketchup mixed with a couple of spices… not quite what I envisioned when I ordered the fries, but, well, whatever.
They do have a full bar, and rumor has it, they make a good bloody mary. My friend who’s been here before swears by their brunch — so I’ll have come back for a meal one of these days.
I loved the juxtaposition of the old original floor tiles with the ultra modern décor — celebrating the old while making it updated and fresh and new. there’s a pool table, and a variety of seating areas… You can get free wifi, and the drink prices were reasonable.

Super stylisch, mega leckere Cocktails und ein verdammt netter Barkeeper! Gut sind überings auch die Preise (zumindest für Barcelona) am Hafen haben wir für die selbe Größe, in unglaublich schlecht ganze 4, — Euro mehr bezahlt und hatten lange nicht so eine schöné Atmosphäre!

No es muy normal que me deje pasar por locales como éste pero, quizá por los momentos que hemos pasado aquí los días que nos apetecía cambiar de aires, le he cogido cariño al Marmalade.
No tiene algo que lo diferencie de los demás locales de diseño de la zona que están más enfocados a guiris y a clase acomodada: luz tenue, muebles entre coloniales y de último diseño y un pastiche creado por piezas de decoración «naïve» dentro de un local que respira aires de la Gran Manzana. Los precios son tirando a caros pero siempre con alguna oferta en cócteles.
Eso sí, para quedar bien con la pareja o con amigos extranjeros, no hay local mejor en toda la zona.
