Great food for bargain prices. Absolutely amazing. Probably in the top three places I ate at in Barcelona. Bottle of the best wine for 10 euros. Food for cheap and the best quality you can imagine. Waiters are friendly and attentive. A definite yes. GOTHERE

Stumbled upon this place based on a few Unilocal reviews and after our earlier choice was closed(thankfully). Coming from the States, it blew my mind how packed this restaurant was even at 11PM. To their credit, the staff invited us to stay at the bar while we waited our table — a rarity given me other experiences in the city. The sangria they prepared for us was made fresh and delicious. Even while we waited, the staff was engaging and very funny. We were treated to delicious tapas(croquettes, peppers, potatoes bravas), tomato bread, and the vegetable paella. All of the food was delicious, to the point that two of us should not have been able to finish it all, but I couldn’t stop. All of the food, plus two pitchers of sangria, and the bill came to roughly 60 €. I have paid almost that much for paella alone previously so this was great value in my eyes. Would love to return if only for more interaction with the staff. Well done!

SO good, that I visited 3 times in a single week! This is a casual spot in the El Raval neighborhood that locals as well as «in the know» tourists frequent. Everything on the menu that we had was delicious, and you can choose from tapas or a larger size portion(ration). We tried the pulpo(octopus), razor clams, mussels, the tomato bread, clams in green sauce, snails. And the wine selection… don’t get me started! An amazing bottle of Rioja for 9 Euros… makes you feel like a jerk for paying $ 40 for a bottle of wine in NY! The service was excellent and they spoke English well enough to get the job done! Absolutely worth the visit :-)

We found this restaurant via Unilocal with quite a good rating. And what to say, it was absolutely worth to pay them a visit! We ordered a variety of tapas, I think about 5 or 6 different types incl. fish, meat and vegetables and not to forget the tasty bottle of red house wine. The food was of good quality, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and to our surprise the prices are very affordable! We’d go there again!

This place was recommended to us while we were visiting. This is off the beaten path a bit, but well worth the walk. The staff was friendly and spoke enough English. Wish I had brushed up on my espanol a little more! We came here for some tapas & sangria for lunch. We had the garlic shrimp, papitas, and l forgot what the last thing was. Everything was delicious. Just wish we would have tried the pallea here. It gets really busy for dinner so reservations are highly recommended.

Freitag Abend 20h. Kurz vorher persönlich für 2 Personen Platz reserviert. Vollkommen problemlos. Die drei jungen Leute(küche, theke, gäste) hatten in den 2.5h die wir erlebt haben ihren laden sehr gut im griff. Der Wechsel von international zu national gelang dem kellnernden jungen Mann ausgezeichnet. Unser Essen: katalanische tapas(5 teile), blutwurst auf zwiebel, oktopus auf Kartoffel und pimient de padron. Meine Favoriten waren die blutwurst, der sehr zarte oktopus und die katalanische bratwurst(aus dem Mix katalan). Dazu Bier und sangria. Gesamt 50eur inkl tipp. Absolut okay! Dort würde ich wieder essen.

I’ve gotta admit, I’m a bit disappointed after the Unilocal raves. Maybe we ordered the wrong things? Service was friendly and the albondigas were good – very tender with a slightly sweet tomato sauce. Bread with tomato was good as well. The patatas bravas were a huge disappointment. Not crispy and borderline undercooked, worse than frozen french fries and I wasn’t a fan of the bravas sauce. Grilled veggies were good but you can’t go too wrong with that. Not a fan of the homemade croquettes either; they were cool on the inside and hard to distinguish apart. I’m sure there’s better tapas out there.

Somehow I always end up in Barcelona. Not that I don’t like it, I just like to try new places often. That said, with a few exceptions I usually don’t visit the same eatery there since I’m getting to know the city little by little on each visit. On my second visit, we stumbled across O’toxo. Great food, good ambiance, the service was a little slow, but they were very communicative and pleasant. I’ve returned to Spain twice since that first visit and plan to continue to seek out this great little corner spot.

Had the Seafood and chicken paella, it took a while to make as they seem to make it from scratch but definitely worth the wait. The restaurant seems like a neighborhood joint but it definitely attracts an audience who know to seek it out. Very friend staff too

Delicious paella and sangria! Lots of tapas and very attentive service! We found this place while walking some random small streets and we were definitely happy with what we found. The best part is that it’s a family owned and run place, the mom knows how to cook well!

Von außen unscheinbares Tapas-Restaurant mit der typischen Theke zum Anschauen und Auswählen der warmen und kalten Köstlichkeiten. Alle typischen Tapas können bestellt werden. Der Schwerpunkt bei sonstigen Gerichten liegt eindeutig bei Fisch und Meeresfrüchten. Unsere Tapas waren sehr gut, der empfohlene Wein passte ausgezeichnet. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist u.E. sehr gut(was auch an der Entfernung zu den typischen Touristen-Attraktionen liegt), wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

Por los comentarios que leo más abajo, debo intuir que el día que decidí pasarme por alli el cocinero no estaba muy católico… pedimos uno de los surtidos de tapas. las patatas bravas ligeramente crudas, al igual que las patatas de la tortilla. Los chocos un poco duros, pero la sepia estaba correcta. El precio razonable teniendo en cuenta la calidad. quizás sale más rentable coger las tapas por separado, a pesar de que el precio vaya a incrementarse considerablemente.

Comimos: Lacón a la gallega, Chorizo gallego, Tortilla de patatas, Gambitas al ajillo, Calamares a la romana, Pimientos del Padrón, Chipirones a la andaluza. Bebimos sangría. Todo excelente pero destaco gambitas al ajillo y chipirones. Servicio de mesa amable y rápido. Local lleno a rebozar un martes, está claro que para OToxo no hay crisis. Se lo merecen, la gente reconoce la calidad. Volveré fijo.

I found O’Toxo to be the quintessential tapas bar for Barcelona. The place seemed to be a neighborhood restuarant for locals. The service was excellent(as most places in Barcelona neighborhoods) and food was diverse, catalan staples, and served fresh. The wine options were great too. Overall great ambiance when in the Raval. Came here twice during my visit to Barcelona and was the best Tapas bar I came across during my visit to Spain. Can’t wait to go back.

Myself and my Wife were staying on the same street as Tres Hermanos when we had a few days in Barca last year, so on the first night after a long walk up and down Las Ramblas we went in for some Tapas, and i have to say that it was really really nice especially the abondigas(feel free to shout at me if i spellded it wrong :)) To be honest i’m probably not the best person to review Tapas as i’ve only had it once or twice, but my Wife likes Tapas and she really enjoyed the food… when I go back to Barca, which I will I’ll certainly go back to Tres Hermanos :) I’ve noticed that it says about the attire(jacket) i dont know if this is true because neither I or anyone else in there was that formally dressed, i was wearing a t-shirt… :)

Solemos venir al Otoxo cuando quedamos unos cuantos amigos y somos más de lo normal, porque hay muchas mesas y es más fácil para adaptarnos. Es un bar de costumbres con tapas de toda la vida, sin carta ni cartón, porque aquí todo es auténtico. Jamón, bravas, lacón, pimientos del padrón. Por las noches los viernes y sábado estan hasta arriba, que no cabe ni un alfiler. Lo malo es que como hay tanta gente siemrpe hay bastante bullicio y, a veces, es hasta incomodo porque no escuchas a nadie y es dificil conversar con los demás.

Virgen santa, qué nochecita me dio la hamburguesa de las narices. Ya nos avisó el camarero de que a lo mejor añadirle las tapas al bocadillo quizá iba a ser un pelín exagerado, que con las bravas, el lacón y los choricitos ya hacíamos. ¡A mí con tonterías! Si pido un bocadillo es porque me lo voy a comer y no quiero consejitos de camarero amilanado. Comí chorizo, me harté de patatas y cuando me trajeron la hamburguesa envuelta en papel de plata supe que algo no iba bien. La única razón por la que un bar envuelve un bocadillo es para que el contenido, hincado a presión entre rebanada y rebanada de pan, no se desperdigue por el plato. A los tres bocados empecé a sudar y a los siete pedí clemencia y supliqué a ese orgullo mío que me va a matar que dejara de una vez lo que había empezado, que soltara al monstruo. No me dejó. Al salir, entre sonrisas del camarero –simpatiquísimo por otra parte– la ciudad perdió color, las formas de los edificios se me aparecían borrosas y las otras dos víctimas del ágape asesino prometieron no comer hasta pasados doce días. Pasados doce días hubiéramos vuelto al lugar de los hechos con hambre y hubiéramos vuelto a pedir el infausto bocadillo. Nosotros nos merecíamos la revancha, y la hamburguesa un aplauso por hacernos volver, a pesar de la mala noche. Sarna con gusto no pica.

Bar gallego de éxito, con amplia variedad de tapas, bocadillos y platos. El nivel de sus productos es de notable alto, a un precio razonable, y esto hace que esté casi siempre muy concurrido, incluso por extranjeros. Si a las virtudes anunciadas le añadimos el hecho de que no abundan este tipo de locales en el Raval, sin imposturas ni aires refinados huecos, pero al mismo tiempo transmitiendo profesionalidad e higiene, tenemos la clave del éxito. Y la clave para no dormir en toda la noche es comerse su maxibocata completo, cuyo nombre lamento no recordar, puesto que lleva DETODO y en grandes cantidades. Todo embutido dentro de rebanadas de pa de pagès y envuelto en papel de aluminio para que no se escape nada. Buenísimo, pero deberían servirlo junto a un sobre de almax.
