Very good place to eat some sushis very fresh products and you will feel very comfortable and welcome. Don’t hesitate to stop there if you love to have some sushis in a cool atmosphere

Me lo han descubieto hoy mismo un compañero de trabajo y no he podido resistir hacerlo publico.
Sushi echo al instante, puedes verlo como lo hacen, es público.
Precio assequible, ya sea en alguno de los menus que ofrecen o bien en su carta muy ayustados y completos, no pasas hambre.
El local es pequeno, 16 personas de aforamento, y paseando por la calle Escudellers un puede pasar de largo, ya que su entrada no destaca pero el producto que ofrecen vale una visita.

The Japanese owner, Tomo, must be quite «famous» in the neighborhood I guess! I posted a photo on Instagram and quite some people said they know Tomo. Very good sushi and sashimi regarding the price. Recommend!

Far and away the best sushi I have had in ages. I’m coming from Istanbul so my expectations for sushi were already low, but I was blown away by this place. It’s been a very long time that I’ve had shrimp like that. We couldn’t stop ordering. Everything on the menu looked great. Would definitely go back if I’m in Barcelona again. Simply heavenly.

Since we got back from LA, going to Japanese and Mexican restaurant it has been a huge disappointment. I know I will have to pay a lot of money to get good sushi in Barcelona. But we are still trying to get an affordable japanese that serve more than salmon and tuna. This one opo out the other day on Unilocal.Located in carrer Escudellers, 50 yards from las Ramblas, it is very close to our place. It’s is quiet small, with 7 – 8 small tables and the menu is limited. But it is run by japanese (a good sign). We got 2 starters, a fried ball with octopus and one fried patty made with pumpkin. And a combination of sushi with a roll. The starters were excellent. Sushi was looking good, with 6 nigiris, with 5 – 6 types of fish. One of them was fresh raw shrimp, something that you can only get in a more expensive restaurant. My only complain was the rice. I found it was a kind of undercooked or dry. That’s why I am giving them a 3 starts instead of 4. We got a strawberry mochi that was really good. I will be back and I promise to review my rating.
EDIT, the rice is good so as I promised I edit my review, give then a 4,5 that means 5 starts. I have found my walking distance Japanese in Barcelona

Really good, authentic Japanese sushi place. Small family run business with nice service oriented staff. Everything we tried was spot on! Highly recommend!

Simpu is a tasty Japanese place right off La Rambla in the touristy Barri Gothic. It’s a great find considering all the restaurants trying to solicit your patronage in that neighborhood! The lunch menus are affordable and come with soup, salad and dessert. I must add that the udon noodle bowl is rather yummy. You can certainly find better and more authentic sushi places out there but I think this place is pretty good. The décor is cute and the location is small and quiet; it has a rather intimate atmosphere. It’s a nice place to go if you have sampled all the various possibilities of croquetas and want a change of pace. :)

Simpu is simply the best choice you can make if you want amazingly good and fresh Japanese food right in the middle of the «Barrio Gotico»: the very center of Barcelona.
It’s a cozy family owned place that operates also as a take away. The owner, Tomo will be happy to prepare always right away the best sushi I’ve eaten so far! Oh, and the price is really affordable!
