Genghis Grill

I love Genghis grill. I am not a meat eater so I can pack a bunch of veggies in the bowl and season the way I want. I like the row seating because you never know you can make friends with your neighbors and meet some interesting people. Ask for ANGEL she is the BEST!!!

for three people it was $ 35.72 which is a lot of money to spend on three people. i don’t understand why it is so much money. the food is good because you can choose what you want and get however much you want.

Well, ultimately its up to you on how the food tastes, since you pick the portions and spices/​sauces. So if it tastes horrible, its your fault.
On the other hand, if it tastes good, but for some reason, every time you have it, you end up with the urge to say hi to the toilet almost immediately afterwards, something may be up with their cleanliness.
So, while it tastes good, it often times can expedite your digestive system. It may be just this location, because I don’t think I’ve had the same sort of express track at other locations (that I’ve visited with extreme caution).
Just keepin it real.

I have never had a bad time at Genghis and my bowls have turned out so good every single time… if I do say so myself! You basically pick everything yourself, pick whatever sauce you want with your meal, and then they cook it for you and serve it to you at your table. They also can give you ideas on what tastes well together too if you are not a culinary expert! I sure do wish there was a place like this closer to me, I could go at least twice a week!

Well, this is quite the disappointment. I used to be a weekly diner, then monthly, then not so much. We got a hankering the other day, decided to give ‘er a swing. The hostess showed us to our booth and drink orders were taken quickly. We headed up to the trough to start the feeding and went through the usual without much ado. Once we arrived at the grill, we were rudely informed there were not any eggs to be had. Ok, fine. We asked for a manager to talk to us. She came to visit and informed me that they couldn’t get eggs from the supplier due to the egg shortage from Avian Flu. Mind you, we were there on 10÷18÷15, precisely 4 months after the Flu ending. Amazingly, the crappy China buffet we ate at the night before had PLENTY of eggs, as did the Whataburger we ate for breakfast. I told her that we weren’t impressed with hackneyed excuses and expected the GM to call us the next morning. We left my phone number. She tried to comp our meal, which I refused and paid full price. As expected, the GM never called me. I’ll never return.

Unfortunately, I love this restaurant and will always come back. But this visit was very lack luster. When I walked in the hostess was looking down at her cell phone for what seemed like a few minutes. I told her we had five adults and a high chair and she motioned me to a table that sat four. When I reiterated we had five plus a high chair she stared at me blankly until I requested we push two tables together. She said that would be fine and watched me push the two together.
After my party arrived and was seated some high school kid pretending to be the manager told us that although they had no other seating to accommodate us, the current arrangement was against fire code. I work in the restaurant industry and happen to know fire code for Dallas, Addison, and Plano, and we were not in violation.
Finally on to service, rude, inattentive, and ten minutes between each one of our orders were delivered. In short, this place needs better staff, from the top down.

I used to come here multiple times. However, as time progressed and the meat quality /​bowl size decreased I stopped coming. I tried to come again after a few years and the bowls got even smaller, and the quality of the meat isn’t that good. The service in which all they have to do is fill your own water since you can grab your own bowl is lacking.

Terrible Experience !!! Terrible customer service terrible management ! Ill Never Make a trip back out there ! I Would Give it no stars if anything !!

Ewwww. I was getting my food and felt water dripping down. I looked up and the rusty a/​c condensation was dripping into the exposed food line. I told and showed the host. He said he would let the manager know, then walked back to host stand and proceeded to socialize with other coworkers. The cook saw me and just shrugged his shoulders. Then I found someone that looked like a manager and told him. He said okay. I told him I was leaving my uncooked bowl there (with rusty condensation water). No apology. No urgency. Nothing. Major health concern

Dark grungy feeling in this place not the typical up beat well lit place. Hostess is retarded and really needs assistance doing her job. Rather empty place and she seats me right next to a party of 4. I ask if I could move and she gave me a look I would love to slapped off her ass face. Needless to say I moved my self. Meats were off colored and veggies looked brown. You can not do all you can eat like every GG in the USA. (Penny pinchers). Got the large bowl had to wait to get my drink ended up spending 16 $ for a large bowl and a ice tea. Will be saving my money for a better place will not be returning ever to this location!

I was in this afternoon while filling my bowl I noticed the man in front of me using a non meat pair of tongs to smush the raw meat in the bowl as he was adding that vegetable. so now the pair of tongs has raw meat juice on it, so I passed on that particular vegetable. as I was visiting with my friend during our lunch together a giant cockroach came out of the booth next to him. I will never go back. be careful of cross-​contamination it can make people very sick.

I feel like this type of food… stir fry… is good for others. I personally was not impressed. But then again I don’t like Asian. The service was decent.

I like this place, but ever since they took away the bigger bowls it kind of cheats out the take out customers so I feel like we’re getting less or were forced to get the small bowls lol maybe I’m just greedy lol!

Always pleased! They are so eager to help each time I go over there, service and food is excellent, ask when those unlimited bowls are I can’t remember but just in case you mess up you can get another.
I love their watermelon sprite mix haha it’s a strange taste but works out fantastic.

For starters, this place smells like a bathroom. The meat looks very suspect and perhaps the meat has been left out too long and that accounts for the smell.
I went to this place with a coworker and we both agreed that we will never be back.

I’ve been to a lot of Mongolian grills and this one just isn’t my favorite. The ordering and making of food is a little complicated. They have 3 sizes of bowls, so that they can charge you as much as possible. I just love the Mongolian grills where they have one bowl size and it’s all you can eat. I made the spicy tofu bowl according to their recipe and it was a bit bland. I had been here before, but thought I would give it another chance. It’s not that bad, but certainly doesn’t warrant 3 stars. I have definitely experienced A LOT better.

Won’t be back here again. Their meat seemed at room temperature on the bar, which, I’ve never seen the meat that thawed before. The sauce and meat spoons were covered in slime, but I went on and prepped to have it grilled. Anyhow, get home, and eating it, I just feel weird about it, like I’m going to get sick or something. They forgot my egg. Finished about half and low and behold, a hair in my food.
Edit: I did get a follow up with apologies. Apparently their A/​C was out, which made the meat seem warmer, however he assured the temp of the meat met the standards. I was given a couple of complimentary bowls, and I appreciate a very detailed response.

If you love customizing and creating your own dishes at a restaurant then you will love this place. If you don’t then they also have dishes created that u can get. I don’t by any means think it’s true Mongolian but there is good food and a variety of drinks (alcoholic & nonalcoholic).
I came here with my boyfriend and we ordered edamame, built our own bowls and ice cream for dessert. The edamame was seasoned with garlic and citrus which was good but the edamame was a bit burnt from cooking on their flat top. It’s not a big deal with edamame since you don’t eat the shell but sometimes getting those burned pieces as you pop them out is not pleasant. When you build your own bowl it’s a very easy process. You get the bowl and sauce cup and go through a «buffet» style line choosing all your ingredients. You can have as much as you can fill in the bowl so don’t be shy. You pick your starch on the card you get at the table that states your name and table number to hand off with your built bowl. After they cook it they bring it to your table. The dessert was two scoops of vanilla ice cream with a very light drizzle of chocolate on top. Not to sound completely unhealthy but I definitely would’ve preferred more chocolate drizzled.
I forgot to mention the drinks earlier but they do have many choices. I had the sweet tea and it was very good. This sweet tea was good enough to convince me to come back but brewing can be different every time so I’m hoping they make really good sweet tea here and it wasn’t just a one time «fluke.» My boyfriend had the strawberry watermelon tea and it was good too but tasted a bit too artificial. We wanted to try out the mango strawberry tea and a couple more but our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. If you haven’t noticed by now I am a sucker for great drinks.
They had a tablet on the table that we paid through (I especially liked that, less risk of cc fraud) but if you have kids there are also many activities on it that they may like. I just can’t rate this place any higher… I’ve been to real Mongolian grills that you stood around watching them make your food. This place is a confused concept… a self service establishment trying to be a sit down service place?
It felt awkward from start to finish… especially from the «smoking or non-​smoking» question? Wow… what year is this? Yes yes, I know Addison still allows smoking indoors but I’m always stunned by it when visiting for work.
The way the line was set up was crowded and having a waiter was also awkward. The bowl itself was «ok»… but hell, I made it. Then again, I got flavors for food I didn’t put in my bowl, which means it came off the poles they use to work the grill. I mean would you want to taste seafood on your other meats? I did… I also got something extra that someone else must have put in theirs…
Just not cool, not special, tasted weird from mixing, salty as hell from sauces… just no thanks.
