Dropped by Firefly for a Labor Day — Day Party happy hour special and had a pretty good time! The atmosphere/digs could use some updating — the chairs at the bar needed upholstering and padding terribly. The couches on the wall looked the same as well — I have this… thing…about couches and chairs and this chair made me feel dirty.(Please don’t judge me). Anywho — The DJ was on point, the drinks were great and the burger was delicious as well! When they brought my burger out to me I was almost disappointed because it looked so sad. Like, no TLC at all. Ohh but when you bite into that bad boy it’s like a flame broiled smokehouse party in your mouth. Yes, it was that good LOL. All-in-all we had a good time at the«basement party» at Firefly and we will definitely be back for another day party! You can’t beat .99 margaritas and wells!

I’ve hosted 5 big events here, and while we have a good time there are some serious problems with this place. I’ll start with the good. Prices are not bad at all… I mean Happy Hour specials are great. It’s not a big place, but it’s pretty easy to get around in. Food isn’t bad at all… therein lies the rub. The food… they have been out of a major menu item every time I was there. They knew we were coming with at least 100 people, and they were out of these items BEFORE the events started. Foresight is pretty important in a restaurant. You know weeks ahead of time, there’s NO excuse to be out of anything… duh. Running out of alcohol is another NONO… hello, this is happy hour! How do you run out of beer? WTH? Seriously? The staff can… at times seem borderline… ummm I don’t know a nice word to use. You can do the math. I’ve not been back in 5 months, and not sure I’m going back. My friend was DJ’ing here, and I’m loyal… so if he’s goes back I will.

Had an amazing time here with friends! Went on a Sunday at 5 oclock and i was like WHOA! they have great drinks and crawfish! The DJ is the bomb!!! So dope. Every body was dancing on the dance floor. Chanda our waitress took amazing care of us! No complaints! The manager was sooooooo nice and checked in with our table all night. You got to get here early, this place rocks all day and night on Sundays. Totally unexpected and I will return, hahaha this coming Sunday!!!

I came here because they were on my American Airlines miles list and I love it when I can try a new place and earn airline miles. My friend and I came a little later in the evening(around 9:15) and it seemed as though we were upsetting the wait staff as it seems they were planning on cutting out early. The atmosphere was confusing and struggling for a theme, and the food was mediocre and not distinct. We had some less than impressive sushi that would not have me clambering to come back. The prices were okay but I certainly wouldn’t pay this much for sushi that was«just okay.»

I went here recently for a happy hour. The drinks were terrible — and I’m not a drink snob, at all. I understand it’s happy hour and everything — but how does a cosmo taste like red tinted water? And a lemon drop martini is NOT sweet and sour, sprite, and rubbing alcohol(which is what the martini tasted like). I couldn’t even finish my drinks — that’s how bad they were — and I don’t believe in alcohol abuse! I’ve been places that had cheaper drinks that taste better. Get the wine or beer — at least it comes in a bottle prepackaged. I also ordered food because I was extremely hungry. I ordered the potstickers(first shrimp, then chicken — because they were out of shrimp potstickers — side note — they were out of quite a few things that night… just an FYI) and the vegetable tempura. I thought it was weird that I had to keep going to the bar to check on my order. Twenty minutes later, my food finally comes out — ice cold. I sent it back and asked for my money back(was going to Stonetrail across the street — where I know I can get hot decent food). They were nice about giving me my money back, but I wont lie — I was looking forward to hot potstickers and fried veggies. The music wasn’t that great either. If I were to go back, someone would probably have to drag and/or bribe me. Random side note — the night we were there, there was a random child skating through the restaurant and back and forth into the kitchen with heelys on. My friends and I thought that was weird… I know it wasn’t that late, but isn’t this a bar and not a place for a child to be skating???

I have eaten at firefly several times and it’s been a year sence I’ve been back. Today I came in during the mid shift and I sat at the bar. I had«all you can eat sushi» of corse. I read all these other reviews and I can tell you this; the sushi is of high quality, they give you genorus portions and cuts of fresh nigiri, and way too much rice that you have to eat. But hey, it’s cheep! Can you find better quality? Simply, yes. For a better price? No. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. The resturante was clean, very clean. I met the manager/bartender who was also very friendly and attentive. All these one star reviews are really not true… Based on my experiance today and from the past. I would recommend firefly to anyone.

This place has really gone down hill from the last time I was here years ago… and we use to love to come here. Drinks and food are no longer fabulous… and the music inside and outside are sooooooooooooooooooooooooo loud your ears bleed. It is so dark in here you feel like someone is going to jump out from behind the couch and grab your boobs. Epic Fail.

Gross. Went in for lunch and it was very dark inside. It seems like one of those places that’s pretty on the outside, not-so-pretty in the kitchen. My eel roll was slimy and had the tiniest sliver of eel possible. The seaweed was slimy. The avocado was NOT fresh and had no taste. The worst part? The knife must have touched some banana somewhere as one of my eel rolls had a piece of banana on the bottom. I spit it out, absolutely gross. A few other pieces had a vague taste of banana. Never again. Follow up: As it goes, the food has finally digested(ish). Terrible stomach cramps and the food made me sick.

I used to eat here all the time and brought large groups every week. Then they started getting greedy and instituted a draconian charge per leftover roll. I was here with my mother for her birthday and we ordered one particular roll that didn’t meet our expectations. We ate everything else and also about 3 out of the 6 rolls of this kind before we asked them for something different. End of the story is they would not let us send them back because we’d already eaten some of them. Either finish the rolls you don’t like, or pay us an extra $ 4.50 or whatever it was. The manager did offer to waive that but said she couldn’t let us order anything else if she did. Where is the logic here? I told them that while I value their establishment and food, I could not return if they could not make this right. They understood and apologized but said no. As I write this it is about 6 months later. I am outside Tokyo One and have a 35 minute wait. We really want to return to Firefly, but based on that experience and the words of their blue-haired manager we simply cannot return. Big shame.

As far from authentic as it gets. We had a coupon, so we went. The food was bland and uninteresting. The presentation was mediocre at best. The fish was not fresh. The server knew very little about the asian dishes, especially the sushi. The«soy sauce», oh my god. I don’t know what they poured in the bottles labeled«soy sauce» but I’ve never tasted anything like it. I even asked and was assured it was soy sauce. It was terrible. Don’t go here.

If I could I would give this place no stars at all. We started to go there since 2008 and the food was always delicious. Well today we went and first off the menu was very confusing, almost all of our favorite foods weren’t on it anymore. So we decided to go with the all you can eat sushi. I had the tempura avocado roll, and some other things. Well first off the food came and the server pretty much just threw the food onto the table and then we didn’t get everything we wanted. The food itself was horrible. So I asked to speak with the manager and while I was talking to him, I had to run to the bathroom and got sick. Well he wouldn’t even compensate us for the food even thou he said he knows the food it ba

I don’t normally even think about reviewing a place until I have visited several times. However, I will not be back to this place. The manager’s friendly attitude and willingness to help was one of the only redeeming qualities of this place. 1. This place was dirty. From the lobby/entrance with dirt and leaves all over the floor to the stained tablecloth that looked like it hadn’t been washed in months. If the chopsticks weren’t in a sanitary wrapper, I wouldn’t have used them. I did not use the cloth napkin provided. It had stains on it, and it just grossed me out. The place wreaks of stale cigarettes. 2. Sushi is not good. Tried several rolls and miso soup. The miso soup was not bad, but it’s a dish that’s fairly hard to screw up. Eel roll had on teeny tiny piece of the end of the eel — hard and stale :(The«crab» roll was one of those imitation crab meat sticks that you can buy in a package at Albertsons. The tuna tasted funny. For a place that touts itself as a sushi resaurant… no thank you. And for a $ 15 lunch, I expect something delicious and fresh, or at least an all you can eat buffet like Tokyo One down the street… 3. Lunch time service was SLOW. There were only 5 tables of people in the entire restaurant, and the check still took almost 10 minutes after I asked for it. 4. The one redeeming quality, when I complained that my diet coke didn’t taste right, they brought me another one, and the manager personally came out to check to see if it tasted better. He was very friendly. When I said it didn’t, he apologized and offered to bring me something else. Then we discovered it wasn’t diet coke afterall, but diet pepsi instead. Oops, they don’t have diet coke, which is what I ordered.

I expected this to be a Vietnamese joint, but it’s more of a sushi(or let’s say maki) restaurant. I expected it to be crowded on a Friday night, but there was almost no one there. When I walked inside, it looked more like a pub where I could sit down for a couple of beers than an «Asian fusion» joint to munch on «Asian fusion» food. I ordered the spring rolls that were stuck together, probably because the rice paper was kinda dry. My date and I had to work together to rip them apart, but neither of us could the rolls intact after they were separated. The entrée we ordered contained green peppers, mangoes, prawns, and pineapples. I was disappointed that they didn’t put enough prawns to balance it out. All in all, I don’t mind coming there again, but probably not for dinner. I may try again for happy hour.

Holy Happy Hour! Dude, this place has a great happy hour. Located north of 635, I would be hard pressed to find a reason to go here normally but I was meeting my buddies and decided to make the trek. Their happy hour special goes on in the bar/lounge area. We got there early and took over a couch and three chairs and started ordering drinks. I was drinking $ 1.50 Michelob Ultra(for tall drafts) and my buddies were drinking inexpensive happy hour house wine. We ordered some of the spicy edamame and one of each of the rolls each, the chicken satay and the dumplings, one order of fried and one order of steamed. I can’t remember the exact prices, but i do remember the rolls being in the $ 3 range and the chicken satay were less than $ 2. Word. The rolls were a little small– maybe«normal» sized because I’m so used to the huge rolls served everywhere else and I have definitely had better. Not bad, but I’ve had better elsewhere. We also ordered a couple of their specialty spring rolls from the regular menu and they were fresh and yummy. We had a vegan amongst us and she was definitely able to find food she was able to eat. Come to find out, this is one of her favorite spots for lunch because they have such a nice, vegan friendly menu. All in all, for 3 tall beers and sharing of 4 rolls, 2 orders of dumplings, 2 orders of chicken satay, and edamame… my total was $ 17. The server even split up the bill for us… putting the vegan’s food and wine on one ticket and then putting each individual girl’s drinks and then ¼ of the remainder of food on each ticket. Dude. I tipped her $ 5 just for doing that. All in all, good service, fun atmosphere, great happy hour prices… I might be willing to go north of the bubble again!

Firefly is a great happy hour joint when you want cheap drinks and sushi on a weekday. They have a nice happy hour menu of cheap beer, well drinks, shots, which my wallet definitely agrees with. Their sushi menu is also great for the price — it’s better than what you would expect for how much you pay. Their California roll was actually quite good… spicy tuna was ok. I think the thing that drags this down from a 4 to 3 stars is their service, as others have mentioned. The staff themselves don’t seem to give a damn — I don’t know if it’s the owners son that works the bar and it’s his friends, but they’re generally interested in keeping themselves occupied moreso than their customers. The stuff that came out of their mouths while I and 5 other patrons were within earshot = wow. I certainly didn’t mind/care, but the ladies next to me certainly were a little shocked. This is one of those places where I’ll still come to if I make my way into Addison craving cheap sushi, but it’s not somewhere I’m going to go out of my way.
