We came across this place randomly. We were a little thrown off by the window décor, but decided to give it a try anyway. Really great portion sizes and the biggest piece of tuna I’ve ever seen in a spicy tuna roll. Delicious. They also offered gluten-free soy sauce($ 2 up charge, a little silly). Definitely will go back.

Their food was very good not to busy for a Saturday night though, I’m giving them four stars because all of their staff were rude and hardly took care of our group.

Food is great and sushi portions are large. Service is fairly quick also. Wine was served a bit warm but server immediately gave me ice once requested.

While at the bar, I had the honey roll and a couple pieces of nigiri that I let the chef choose for me based on what was fresh. Everything was tasty and enjoyed some personalized service. Definitely will be making my way back for more.

JEFF!!! Oh my gosh yay! I can’t tell you how happy I am I finally came here tonight. I’ve been meaning to give this place a shot for about two years now and some how it just didn’t happen until tonight. And I’m starting to think there was a reason for it. First let me say that I have a much more discerning palate than most«sushi eaters» here in Cali. My idea of «fresh» means wild caught and fresh — NOTFROZEN or off the printed menu. If a restaurant doesn’t have a daily fresh catch menu posted it can’t be called«fresh.» Rolls can be ordered anywhere and a truly good sushi restaurant will take pride in their non-roll daily catch menu. Second, the rice is an important part of sushi. It needs to be flavored right, molded with just the right amount and accompanied by the right amount of wasabi to counter the fish. You shouldn’t be chewing your bite of sushi over and over and over again because some chef smooshed the rice into such a dense ball you can’t chew it without gagging. And third is of course service. It takes a really great chef to not only learn what their guests like but to cater to that. I love it when the chef learns my palate and offers more options for me to enjoy. Now back to my beginning excitement. I came in for the very first time tonight, on a holiday even– so I didn’t expect much, I was just happy to find some place open. I was greeted right away and was asked if I had a chef preference. I told him it was my first time there to which he responded by putting me with a particular chef. Jeff greeted me and we started with the important stuff — the sake! I made it clear I didn’t like sweet and he recommended a couple and I settled on one. Then I laid the rules– only sahshimi or sushi; no sweet sauce, just the basics(lemon, salt, yuzu and whatever accompanied each specific fish). He pointed out some fish on the specials board that was still available(most was finished due to a busy holiday weekend) and i ordered from there. Amberjack, toro and anago were my first three. All were excellent. Seasoned just right and very fresh. I had another two or three rounds of other fish including red snapper, albacore belly and even an oyster shooter. Jeff knew my palate and fed it well. My only reason for not giving them 5 stars is because they were out of so much fish– again, not their fault that it was a busy holiday weekend and they were totally picked over. I’ll come back another day when they’re freshly stocked and update my review. After talking with Jeff and getting to know him better, I came to find out that I actually knew him over 7 years ago from a small sushi spot in San Marcos that I frequently visited when in town for family. After he left that place 7 years ago it was never the same and I remember being really sad that it was never good without him. Good news is, now he’s here! In my town, where I can visit him often and get excellent fish. I can’t wait to come back soon and get to try more great fish when it’s restocked. Thank you Jeff and I’m so happy to see you again!!!

This is such a great sushi spot. We come here almost every week. Tonight was spectacular– we sat at the sushi bar and the owner served up a true culinary experience. I am not sure if they do omakase here, but this is as close as it gets.

This place definitely had tons of regulars. The waitress and chefs knew most of them customers that came in, which says a lot about the restaurant. The service here is sepurb as the waiters and waitress kept dropping by and checking up on us. However, I felt that it was overpriced for what we ordered. The octopus salad was good and huge! If you ordered the octopus salad alone this would’ve filled you up. I can’t say enough about the Udon, which was super tasty. I would come back just for the Udon alone. My husband loved his chirashi bowl as the portions of fish was large and fresh. The only downside was the Raku Special Roll, which tasted bland and was not anything special. I was a little disappointed with that roll.

I’d give 5 stars for the food but 2 stars for the service. I can’t imagine why they would charge $ 2 for Tamari, I’ve never been charged for Tamari anywhere. They forgot to bring several dishes and then charged us for them. It’s tough to reconcile the rude servers with the amazing food. Finally, it was a bummer they don’t take AMEX cards. I hope they figure their stuff out. I won’t be back.

Really great place. Food is fantastic with reasonable prices. Atmosphere is nice, although it does get a bit loud. Love that they’re in my neighborhood.

I’ve been coming here since they first opened… probably 10 years ago. I’m never disappointed and the quality is top of the line. Best toro sushi ever. It’s so buttery.

Every time will come to this restaurant we have amazingly delicious food, impeccable service and great atmosphere. If I could I would give it six stars.

Quality seems to have gone significantly down recently. The fish is riddled with sinew, so while they give you huge slabs of fish, you can’t bite through it, so you end up struggling to tear off a bite. Also they don’t accept American Express, which is really inconvenient.

This is a wonderful sushi place, with yummy sushi, great presentation, and warm service. I have only been once so far, but the sushi and various selections were fresh and delicious. The ambiance was nice and comfortable. The waiter was super friendly and helpful in giving recommendations. Would definitely come back again.

My friend and I got food for take out and ordered: eel sashimi, white tail sushi, tuna sushi and a seaweed salad. The place was not busy though we were told our order would take 20 mins which was an over estimation as it really only took 10 mins. That being said though the fish was really fresh and tasty. My friend who lives in Agoura Hills said she would definitely go back there and so would I if I lived there!

So our regular sushi place was loaded and it was too cold to wait outside. Had not been here in years as food and service was terrible. That has all changed. Food was excellent and sushi pieces were large, service was fast and friendly and prices are very fair. Will definitely be back.

So far one of the best sushi restaurants I’ve been to in the Conejo Valley. The sushi is so fresh and delicious and the service is friendly and attentive. Pricing is very good and must go to happy hour. Enjoy!

It has been 2 – 3 years since we last stepped foot in here and happily, I can say that they haven’t lost their touch. I noticed a few changes in the presentation of their food, but all for the better. My favorite is still the Sunshine Roll, and having traveled to many a sushi restaurant beyond Sushi Raku, this is STILL my ABSOLUTEFAVORITEANYWHERE. Nobody else concocts this particular roll, and while I usually make a request for others to do so, nobody really«gets it.» I LOVETHISROLL. It’s THAT simple. This visit, for the first time ever, my husband and I each ordered our own Sunshine Roll to savor… we share everything, but with this, we wanted our very own. We also ordered 2 other rolls(but did share those). Gosh, I can’t even remember what the others are called, and I have no online menu to refresh my recollection. Sorry about that. One of them has a girl’s name in the title. I’m so embarrassed that I can’t remember. Anyway, I have no idea if this place is authentic or not. I just know I love it. It’s fresh, fabulous, and my favorite. What more needs to be said?

Ok so I finally went back even though I was hesitant from some horrific experiences. And to my surprise, the horrible manager is no longer there. That put a smile on my face because I finally felt welcome again. Snodan is an amazing sushi chef and I enjoyed my «me» time! The only reason I did not give it more stars is because I don’t want to jinx it. Every time I do, a new manager shows up and ruins everything. So for now it will stay at 3 stars but I will be back.
