their milk-ish broth was odd & its taste was not to my liking at all. from now on, i’ll ask to taste a restaurant’s broth before ordering. gyoza was the smallest i’ve ever seen. tonkatsu, chicken & pork, were pounded thin slices of meat. their inside seating area is yuk full of kitchen aromas. better seating in the food court area which was spacious & open & few customers compared to the hustle & bustle & no elbow room of Uptown food court. Downtown’s tables & chairs were retro old-fashioned 1950s style. their sign had big letters«CHAMPON» — bad ‘cuz it raises doubts in the minds of locals — what is champon? champion mis-spelled? maybe folks in nagasaki crave champon, but everywhere else, it’s «huh?» dimwit. naming the place Nagasaki Noodles isn’t a good idea though, ‘cuz of the atomic bomb detonated there in ’45. as presidential hopeful Ted Cruz said recently — he’ll nuke ISIS& we’ll see if sand glows in the dark! nutty signage to examine — 3 menus duplicating their offerings. nutty. Champon is on 3rd floor; up escalator wasn’t working. i saw perhaps too many employees for the volume of dishes they put out. auwe! they’re trying their best. «the mediocre are always at their best.» i didn’t get a loyalty card(freebie after so many purchases) — their ample competition & high rent make survivability difficult. competition will open nearby on 1st floor — Agu Ramen Bistro, in perhaps a better location. Agu’s nutty too — their menu shows«negi» — few local folks know what negi is! do they think they’re operating in japan? how infantile. could be that CHAMPON lost its fight to prevent another ramen restaurant(Agu) in the Downtown complex. both can’t survive there. let’s have a smokehouse/BBQ restaurant instead.

I like coming here because I can get my tonkatsu and cabbage salad with onion dressing without having to go to one of the tonkatsu places in town. The champon noodles are not bad as long as you know what you are ordering. I think a lot of the negative reviews of the champon«ramen» are because people expect something and get something else. I think they just call it «ramen» because they were worried that people wouldn’t know what it was and because ramen is all the rage now. I understand the complaints about the service, but I always get good service when I go here. I think maybe I go in there not looking for things to complain about and they are receptive to it. Who knows… anyway, I also miss Tsuruya but I don’t mind this place taking its place. I would give it 3 and a half stars but that’s not an option so I am rounding up to 4 stars.

Overall food was bad. Fingerhut claims to a large food chain in Japan and the mainland. If someone from corporate came down, I think they would be very disappointed. When you sit down there’s a TV showing you the great new process for which they can make your ramen on this high technology conveyor belt. But truth is there is no such machine in the back. It still the same dirty old kitchen from the previous restaurant. Ok so now the food. Let’s start with the Chicken Curry. Bits of boiled chicken spread out on rice and curry sauce is poured over it. Looked unappealing and it was. If they at least mixed the meat up with the sauce before pouring into the rice it would’ve looked better. Taste was bland. I had the fried chicken with mayo don. Looked like four pieces of chicken andagi. When you bit into it you would find a tiny piece of chicken surrounded by batter and some kind of ponzu sauce squirted out. Sorry not to good tasting either. We also had their signature ramen which was packed full of veggies. Broth overall was ok. Probably the best of the three dishes we tried. But still overall not worth a second visit. I would not recommend this place. I really don’t think this is how the parent company envisioned this place to operate. For example, the Gyoza is deep fried. Tell me what Japanese restaurant, deep fries their Gyoza?

1÷9÷16 I wanted to eat cheap Saimin and decided to try this place. I was a little apprehensive ordering because three of the workers are talking to each other and eyeing me. I ordered #40 Udon and chix donburi($ 9.99). The person taking my order did not ask if I wanted something to drink or offer me a stamp card. She was there just to take my order. The food came out within 3 minutes of ordering. The chicken donburi had good flavor and some pieces were over cooked. I do wish that they had layered some of the sauce on the rice. The udon soup tasted like any other places but saltier. They did add green onions, kamaboko, and aburage as toppings to the udon, but the kamaboko and aburage was sliced so thin. The price is on the higher side. I was going to give 3 stars because it was okay, but I deducted one star because neither a stamp card or water was offered.

I was with my mother on Tuesday December 22, 2015. She was getting hungry and I was getting the chills. I told her lets get some ramen and try out the Champon by RingerHut. This ramen shop is located in Pearlridge Downtown up on the third level where the food court is located. As we approached the counter we were debating on ordering out and eating our meals at the public tables or dining in the section provided for the customers. We opted to dine in at the section provided for the customers. Now the decision is to dine at the counter or dine at a table. We opted to sit at the very last table in the back. Each table seats at least two to four individuals. There were a total of five or six tables. The counter section was split in two sides and each side could hold up to six individuals. Once my mom and I sat down at the table the waitress comes to give us the menus and couple cups of water. I found out that on this day that there was only Mountain Dew and Diet Pepsi to drink besides the water. Mom and I opted to drink the water. My mom looked over the menu and she just pointed to the #1 item on the menu… it turned out to be the Champon Nagasaki Ramen bowl. I opted to get a bowl with shoyu base. When our ramen bowls were delivered I informed my mom to taste the soup base to find out if it was spicy or not. She even tried the shoyu soup base for my ramen. My mom told me «I like your ramen bowl. Let’s switch.» I took noticed that each of the ramen bowls had too much vegetables and not enough ramen. I was expecting some thin looking noodles instead I think they use the udon noodles for the ramen soups. The ramen garnishes consisted of cabbage, thin grated carrots, two different types of kamaboko, bean sprouts, and corn. I was hungry so I managed to finish up the Champon Nagasaki Ramen. My mom tried her best to finish up the shoyu based ramen bowl… she couldn’t finish it up so I finished it for her. When we were eating our meals I noticed that the waitress didn’t bother on checking up on us and it took the male cashier from the front to check up on us. The cashier even refilled our cups of water and handed us our bill as well as a stamp card. With thanks to the male cashier this establishment gained a star from me otherwise it would have been a two star review.

First time here. Something different. The soup was a little on the spicier side for me… Wish I had known that. Besides that, the other food that we ordered was good and lots of taste. From the other reviews, I wish we had tried the other place prior to this location. I can’t really compare it. We had fast service and it wasn’t too busy at night. Probably eat here again on a rainy day!

Tried this place for the first time. Pork katsu was undercooked. Chicken Katsu was chewy. Ramen was okay but too much vegetables… not enough broth. Gyoza had a funny taste that I can’t quite figure out.

The customer service was horrible. The food was ok besides the fact that they served me half cooked chicken. The miso soup and Gyoza was pretty good and the prices should NOT be as expensive as they are.

Replaced Tsuruya in Pearl Ridge. While the food will not blow you away, I thought the food was good and tasty. I am not a fan of Champon, so I opted to get the combo that comes with Chicken Katsu, Tonkatsu, Miso Soup and Cabbage. They even have sesame that you grind up to put into the Katsu sauce. This brought back great memories of eating Katsu in Tokyo. The Chicken Katsu was crunchy and moist, but the Tonkatsu was quite tough. However, I feel like the food quality is still definitely a step up from Tsuruya.

I have been to the Ringer Hut location in Waikiki and liked it, so I was happy to see this location open up so close to home. This restaurant specializes in Nagasaki champon and the noodles served here are a bit skinnier than your average ramen noodle and is served in a nice savory broth with lots of veggies. The tori mayo is by far my favorite item on the menu so far, the chicken is crispy on the outside but super hot and juicy on the inside and topped with the spicy mayo sauce on top. .. so yummy! While I will miss Tsuruya, it’s great to have more variety in Aiea!

I’m rating this Place a one star because I used to eat at Tsuruya and they have closed down… Now in its place is this resteraunt. The Chicken plate I ate was very disappointing, the Miso soup isn’t as well as it should be. The prices are expensive as well… I will not be going back to that resteraunt, the salad they gave was plain cut up cabbage…

To the owner, please please train these employee’s the correct way to serve this food, I have been eating Nagasaki Champon for 14yrs, this by far was the worst I ever had. Why are they using crockpots to store food that should be cooked to order? I’d really hate to see you close soon after the excitement of your recent opening #Nostars

Aloha Gang Uncle, Wes n Aunty Wanda Anzai We are reviewing Nagasaki Champon house. We had lunch there. The staff is the same, very nice people. The food was terrible, too much msg in the champon soup stock. It was too salty and too spicy. We know what’s good champ on should taste like and this wasn’t it!!! The food wasn’t freshly made the vegetables were all cut down and mushy. Save your money go somewhere else. If they don’t change their food and improve it they won’t be here very long Sorry for the negative review but we have to warn people about restaurants that serve MSG in their foods. After eating here we got very sleepy and tired and we got bad headaches. Any restaurant that uses MSG in their food. Don’t know how to cook. REALFOOD… Mahalo Uncle Wes n Aunty Wanda Anzai
