We were visiting Albuquerque and happened upon the Hyatt.

As a hotel guest I visited HQue three nights in a row. The first night I received friendly and somewhat attentive service but the kitchen was very slow getting my order out. The second night the service was abysmal: in attentive wait staff, had to ask for water three times, slow kitchen, food arrived cool and my order was incorrect, practically had to be for my check, waited 20 minutes for waitress to run my credit card. The third night I sat at a table for 10 minutes before going to the bar to place my food and beverage order. A few minutes later the bartender came to my table to tell me her manager told her not to place my order because they were going to close in 10 minutes(the sign outside said they’d be open for another two hours and by this time I had already been sitting there for more than 10 minutes). All this said, I think the issues I experienced are staff/management related. I plan to discuss these with the food and beverage manager with high hopes for improvement so HQue can be a viable option for locals to enjoy– other hotel guests too, of course.

The HQue is the bar area at the Hyatt Regency. It is a small but comfy area with chairs, stools, and tables arranged for intimate conversations. The bartenders will serve food from a tiny menu from the kitchen including burgers, apps, etc and drinks. It appears there is a joint kitchen with the Forque. The wine pours over several evenings went from tiny to almost full. There was a range of service that didn’t seem to be influenced by it being slow nor busy. The cocktail people will get the business so there isn’t a big sales pitch. This area is as times dead other times filled to the brim. Some times they are attentive other times they leave you for a long, long time. It is definitely getting the conference/business business. Because of its location down in the hotel lobby area there is good people watching. If you are there on business or on a leisure trip, want to relax, but not head out in ABQ, stay in at the HQue, have a burger and some drinks. Easy evenings in an extension of your room.

It’s ok, closes early, not much time for happy hour, blah!

After arriving at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque downtown for a couple days of business, my fellow colleges and I decided to get out of the room and grab a few cocktails at a sophisticated lounge. Never having been to the Albuquerque area I called the hotel concierge and asked for a list of the local upscale bars. After a moment of silence, I was listed a number of bars and there distances from our hotel. Curiously enough my colleges and I had a hard time believing bars named, «Maloneys Pub» and«The Library» were sophisticated bars or lounges, so to say the least we were skeptical about the list at hand. Once we decided upon spending the evening inside the hotel, we made our way down to the hotel lobby, and coincidentally enough what did we find but a sophisticated bar/lounge located right here in the hotel we could grab a few cocktails called HQue. The lounge looked to be newly renovated and had a number of comfortable chairs, stools, love seats, and couches, and not to mention flat screen televisions on every wall. The cocktails were prepared to perfection by the friendly and sociable mixologists, so needless to say we didn’t limit ourselves to just one… This place turned out to be exactly the kind of place we were looking for and so the next two nights we didn’t even think about going anywhere else for our late night cocktails. I recommend this place to the busy business person who needs a comfortable, relaxing lounge to have a drink or two and forget about the pressures of the day, this place has a drink for you!
