I don’t like these tacos. The taste is not like your avg mouth salivating taco. I don’t recommend

I have been there several times and i have to say I really love the loaded chicken nachos. The cheese was really good and not shreeded. I don’t like when I order nachos and I get shredded cheese instead of queso. The meat was also flavored very well. The pico runs pretty hot so don’t just throw it on before trying it. Also its a great place to go on the weekend after you have been out all night.

Open late at night, so it’s great for grabbing a bite after hitting the bars or, in my case, a concert at the Kiva. I ordered the 6 beef tacos for my boyfriend and I, and It was $ 13! Not a good deal given the caliber of taco we experienced there — but you do get chips and salsa with it. The beef tacos were steak tacos(small pieces of steak in a shell — I would prefer shredded or ground beef instead), and I found myself chewing a lot because the meat was tough and fatty. We had the green salsa, and a day later I could still taste the overwhelming amount of garlic that was in it despite my repeated brushing and mouthwashing efforts. Normally, I don’t mind a ton of garlic if the flavor of the dish is exceptional — but this time it was bland. In conclusion, the food’s not the best, but if you’ve got the late-night munchies there aren’t many other options in this area. I would go back and try different tacos and salsa.

Absolutely horrible! They don’t make the tortillas, beans, or salsa in house. How can a place have a salsa bar and not even make it themselves. Overpriced, they charge extra for cheese on a bean taco. The customer service is lousy as well.

I honestly wanted to give this place a chance. It smelled delicious when I walked in but in a few simple words this place is «expensive concession stand food». The nachos were the standard cheese out of the can. When I think taqueria nachos, I think shredded melted yumminess… not canned cheese. I ordered a fish taco and the corn tortilla was cold. Not even slightly warm. The hard taco shells seem like they came out of a box. No bueno. :(

I read the reviews and was under the impression that there might be a salsa bar. I love eating at spots w/salsa bars because I never seem to give enough w/my order plus I like trying all of the types offered. Waco’s is close to The Hyatt which is were I’m staying. I was bummed to see that there was no salsa bar. I ordered a steak & chicken taco w/a side of guac. The mild salsa was tasty, hot was hardly hot and the extra hot and flavorful. It was much hotter than Chipotle’s hot in comparison.

We thought this was kind of a sketchy area of town when we stopped for tacos on a Friday around 10. Food was decent, but don’t know if I’d brave the area again for it.

Good tacos… but way overpriced! $ 2.50 each!!! Two tacos and a soda for $ 8.50? Ridiculous.

I needed a quick break from the office so I stopped by Waco’s today for lunch. The dining area is pretty small, but there was plenty of seating. There’s a chalkboard with a small menu, consisting mainly of tacos, burritos, frito pie, and maybe a couple of other items. I opted for a frito pie and a chicken taco. Add a drink and the total was still only $ 7 and change. My order was ready in just a few minutes and like the other reviewers said, the veggies were nice and fresh. I didn’t see the salsa bar, but I might’ve just overlooked it. The frito pie was flavorful and filling, and the ground chicken was juicy and seasoned well. They also serve a small side of tortilla chips with the taco, which they make in the restaurant. Overall, it was a nice, cheap, quick lunch. Good choice for a lunch on the go.

Great tacos for the price. When I worked downtown I knew I could always count on Waco’s for some quick tacos that were miles ahead of their fast food counterparts. The key here is that the meats(ground beef or ground chicken) seem to be of decent quality and the garnishes are fresh and flavorful. Bonus points for shredded green lettuce instead of iceberg. The salsa is most likely Pace-variety(say it with me: «New York City… get a rope») which is a bit disappointing, but again: for the price… There aren’t a whole lot of options here, but if you’re looking for decent-priced tacos or burritos, you can do MUCH worse than Waco’s if you’re downtown. Bonus points for late-night hours.

it’s hard to beat $ 2 tacos. good meat + i don’t mind adding my own toppings; it’s easier than telling them what to leave out(onion allergy). my partner + i are fans of the spicy salsa + horchata, which is not sickeningly sweet. burritos are enh. the biggest draw for me is being able to sit at the outside counter and watch all the cars + ppl cruising down central. fabulous.

I wish we had a little taco joint like this in Denver! While on a recent visit to Albuquerque I checked out Waco’s Tacos while searching for cheap fast food around the convention center. Waco’s drew us in with its bright interior and promise of $ 2 tacos. The place really didn’t disappoint. The chicken tacos were moist and flavorful, and I especially love the little salsa/accoutrement bar to jazz up the tacos instead of them giving you a little cup of either red or green. The man behind the counter(owner likely) was extremely pleasant and welcoming and added to the quaintness of the place. The place is also strategically placed by a lot of the bars in Albuquerqu, so later in the night we drunkenly stumbled back in for more tacos to satisfy our drunken munchies. The place was lively and definitely a choice for the inebriated after-hours. And while I had to fend off local hoochies that were gravitating towards my boyfriend, I was happy to take my man and some yummy tacos to go.

Good little place to grab a breakfast burrito. Service was awesome. A little heavy on onions in the eggs. All eggs are scrambled even for the huevos rancheros.

I have passed Waco’s Tacos on many occasions and finally decided to try it. It is an interesting concept — you are handed the shell with meat and then directed to the garnish bar. They have $ 5 lunch specials that are actually a good deal and include a drink. I opted for the taco salad special because it came loaded with all the extras — no visit to the garnish bar for me. I chose chicken and was surprised to find that it was ground. I am not a fan of ground meat, not sure what has been added and there always seem to be little hard things that you bite. The overall taste of the salad was good though. I am sad that I was not more thrilled with Waco’s because the gentleman working there(perhaps the owner?) was extremely nice, the prices are reasonable and the service was fast. If they begin using shredded chicken breast, this would become one of my regular lunch spots.

I initially didn’t like Wacos Tacos. I was not a fan of it not being a 100% true Mexican Taco. But hey, I’m not in Mexico, I’m in New Mexico. Foods change regionally. Pretty good soft Tacos, the chicken has good flavor. It has new seating inside so you can chow down in warmth during the cold weather.

This little Mexican fast food restaurant opened about a week or so ago. It resides in the storefront where The Fix restaurant had been. The brightly-colored Waco’s Tacos is strictly all about the taco. They aren’t trying to create authentic Mexican or New Mexican cuisine. Most of their ingredients are fresh, and they’re tacos are good. They add garlic and other seasonings to their chicken. They have Taco Salads, too, along with drinks and desserts. They tout their Two Buck Taco, which is priced about the same across the Albuquerque area. You order your taco at the counter. You’re asked three questions: * What type of tortilla do you want?(Soft, crunchy or flour.) * What filling do you want?(Chicken, steak, bean or veggie.) * Would you like a side with your taco?(These are each 50 cents extra and are sour cream, guacamole, green chile and/or shredded cheese.) If you wish for salsa, lettuce, tomatoes, etc., Waco’s Tacos has a bar where you can add these to your tacos. There are fun designerly black stools lined up along the east wall where you can belly up to the feeding trough counter. One thing that would be great to have here are clipped up newspaper pages to read while eating. If you want to have more than one taco, which it seems most people would, they have the Two Tacos and a Soda special for $ 5. They also have the Taco Six-Pack for $ 10 and One Dozen Tacos for $ 20. This is such a fun place to eat lunch and the food is simply made and fairly good. However, if you know me, I judge such cuisine heavily by its guacamole. They make their guacamole with 100 percent fresh avocado straight out of the shell, not how many places squeeze the avocado pulp out of a plastic package. But there is something in their guacamole that hides its pure essence. Their meat is a little greasier than it needs to be, making a taco not as healthy as it could be. All the same, this place is well worth it. And they’ve expanded their hours.
