The restaurant’s a little worn around the edges but they have great Greek specialities and lamb dishes! I agree with the previous reviewer that the restrooms should be avoided!

If you cannot make it downtown for American or Lafayette or to have Greek food in Greektown here is where you need to go. I have been going here since they opened and have never been disappointed. The coney dogs are great, but the gyros and Greek salad are fantastic. The lemon rice soup is the best you can get outside of Greektown! They have a great breakfast menu and for dinner aside from what you get on the menu they have many daily specials. The same holds true for lunch. I make it a point to stop here to eat here anytime I am shopping at the new mall on The Hill. If you like Greek food and coney dogs this place is for you. And the chili here is some of the best I have ever had!

What a great breakfast we had this morning. I haven’t been to that many Coneys, but this one is pretty damn tasty. It was a late Saturday morning hangover breakfast. I had the Opa Opa omelet(feta, tomato, gyro meat) and the bf had the Greek omelete which was the same damn thing minus the gyro meat. The Opa Opa came with tzatziki sauce. I asked for English muffin instead of toast and wasn’t charged extra. The coffee was good and refilled often. The omelets were very good and the tzatziki kicked TOTAL ass. The potatoes that came with the omelets were good, not great. Service was very good, fast, food came out quickly and was very hot. I just wish this gem wasn’t in Dearborn/Melvindale/Allen Park/BFE. Move this shit to downtown Detroit quickly! Will be back as often as I can. Oh, and there is a pretty righteous mural on the wall too. Check it out.

I’ve been coming to Opa Opa since they opened up in roughly 1995 and I continue to go there as my stand-by and hometown coney island. It’s cozy, doesn’t get terribly crowded, and I don’t recall ever having to wait to get a table. Breakfast: They have a decent array of breakfast menu items from eggs ‘n toast to strawberry covered Belgian waffles, while it’s not anything over-the-top, the food is made well and tastes good, ’nuff said. Lunch: Every day they have a different lunch special for roughly $ 5 to $ 7, depending on what it is. The specials range from ham ‘n cheese on a pita to goulash, and let me tell you, the goulash is quite good. There was a point in time where I worked in the Dearborn /Allen Park area not far from Opa so I made it a point to go there EVERY Wednesday for the goulash ‘cus it was that good. Dinner: Typical coney island dinner stuff is what you can expect, so no surprises there. I do enjoy their fish ‘n chips as you do get a very large portion of fish and enough fries to send you into a food coma for a couple of days. Dessert: They have baklava — YAY! Like I said, I’ve been coming to Opa Opa for over ten years and I plan to continue coming here for the remainder of my life unless I move far away, I get abducted by an alien, or Armageddon comes.

Food is pretty good but the place is filthy. They need to close down for a couple days and break out some buckets of soapy water and scrub th place down like flamingos on ecotage road down every week. One star for the grossness factor

I) This place is NOT vegetarian friendly. If it was a breakfast and lunch only Coney Island, I wouldn’t even think it to be(for options other than meatless breakfast); however this place serves dinner and has what most would consider a full Greek menu. There are no veggie versions of Greek specialties, no veggie soup, no veggie sandwiches. If you’re veggie and you go for lunch, your options are Greek salad, spinach pie and Saganaki. 2) What we did eat, wasn’t that good. The spinach pie had a nice flavor but I couldn’t get past the massively soggy filo so 90% of it came home to the dogs. Olga’s does a better spinach pie and I suppose that’s saying a lot. The salad dressing was quite bland and the salad mix was the typical. The Saganaki was pretty good, but then again it’s hard to mess that up. 3) It’s extremely overpriced. 2 small Greek salads, 1 Saganaki and 1 appetizer of spinach pie was 30 $. Wayyyy too high for the ingredients there. The food came fast and the service was good. Those were the only two positives. We’ve lived near this place for a over a decade and this was our one and only visit.

First thing, before I get into anything else about this place… the bathrooms are super gross. Do not use them unless your only other option involves a new pair of pants. Hopefully their kitchen is better maintained and cleaned. Anyway… I like Opa Opa. They’re a pretty standard Greek diner, and they do what they do quite well. The saganaki is good, the spinach pie is huge and decent, and the breakfast is greasy yet delicious. I like their veggie«flip»(I think it’s called) which is essentially a veggie omelette with potatoes instead of eggs. The location is nice – right across the street from a huge shopping center(and a Starbucks, which is extra good because Opa’s coffee is less than stellar). I’ve had some really fantastic service here. The hostess is quick to seat you, the waitresses are friendly and accommodating, and the bussers keep the tables clean and the plates cleared. Even when they’re very crowded, and the food is coming out slower than usual, your bread basket(lunch/dinner) is kept full, or your coffee cup is warmed up regularly. Little about this place stands out above other similarly sized/priced Greek diners, but that doesn’t make it bad. Seriously though, stay out of that bathroom.

I am disappointed in myself for driving past this place so many times and not trying it. We solved that problem today, and this is now our new go-to breakfast place. The food is excellent, and I look forward to trying the chicken Greek salad everyone on Unilocal has been raving about… I’m also interested in trying the Reuben, simply because it looks delicious in the picture. Give this place a shot; you won’t be disappointed.

This is my first choice for a good local breakfast without having to get on the expressway. It’s never too crowded, service is swift, staff is friendly and food(& coffee!)is delicious. I’ve never had anything from their lunch or dinner menus, though. Only breakfast. Does that mean breakfast is my favorite meal? That’s all I’ve been thinking about for the past hour and it’s almost 10 pm, so maybe it is. The food is plentiful and always hits the spot. It’s very inexpensive. It’s easily accessible from the expressway if you’re coming from 94ORM39. It’s right across from the shopping area and has been in that location for as long as I can remember. If you haven’t already, you should run, not walk, to Opa! Opa! Coney Island. Opa! Opa! FTW!

I really like this place. First off, it’s easy to get to from 94 or Southfield. You hop off on Outer Drive and you’re there. Service is always great, and there’s a nice mix of people in the restaurant. Whether you’re here for breakfast, lunch or dinner there are a bunch of great options. I’m partial to the Greek salads with chicken, but my dad has ordered just about everything: broiled fish, meat dishes, gyros, etc. and we’ve never been bummed. And their iced tea is excellent.

Opa Opa has recently become a haunt of mine. It’s got that ‘everybody knows your name’ kind of feel to it. My personal favorite is the spinach and feta omelette and my friends is the large Greek salad with chicken. I’ve tried just about everything on the menu and I can say there’s very little I don’t like. In fact, the only thing I can think of is the Greek style green beans(and I’m just not a fan of those ever). The service is fantastic and everyone there is very friendly! Great place to go with friends or to take the kids.

After few more visits to Opa Opa and trying other items in their menu, I came to a conclusion that this is one of the best Coney Island in the area. I was mistaken by my previous 3 star review. In the last visit, I tried their special of the day, Yankee Pot Roast, and this meal was prepared just a like a home cooked meal. Great price too around $ 8 for full dinner. Excellent mashed potatoes and nicely steamed vegetables. I tried their breakfast and it was great as well! The service was fast and on point. I knew this place needed a re-review when I woke up next day craving to go there again. *** One thing still not great is their hours. Drove by there around 9 on a Saturday night and it was closed?! Dislike!***

This is the perfect place. I bring the kids and family here when I am not going to cook, and nobody can agree on a restaurant. Hubby loves the greek trio and craves it about once a week. I LOVE the greek salad with chicken. Kids meals are typical. Best coney island.

My husband and I just had dinner there this evening. It is a typical coney with respect to décor. The smoking section is right near the entrance, and we requested to be seated as far away from there as possible. They were very accommodating. While it looks like a coney island, it is so much better. In addition to the typical coney options, they have a legitimate Greek menu as well. I wasn’t that hungry so I ordered the Lemon Chicken Rice soup — it was very good — not too lemony — just right. My husband ordered the Greek Trio. He liked it very much. It came with a generous helping of spinach pie, pastitsio and moussaka with a side of rice and a side peas and carrots covered in a greek tomato sauce. I ate half of the moussaka and a bit of the pastitsio. I love moussaka anyway — and this was a delicious one. The pastitsio was pretty good as well. I would say that this place is as good as the places in Greektown for what we ordered(with a smaller price tag). We didn’t order it, but they do, true to name, have the flaming cheese. I personally don’t like flaming cheese, but far be it from me to deprive those who do. You will have to rely on fellow Unilocalers to find out if it is any good, or you could just go there and try it yourself. The service was good — we had a nice Greek waitress — she was a little older but very fast and efficient. We never needed to ask for water refills.

Opa Opa is one of my favorite diners for breakfast. Me and my gal go there almost every weekend. Get there before 11 am on the weekend to get breakfast special. A pretty good deal, I normally get 2 eggs over medium, hashbrowns, bacon, toast, and coffee. Waitresses are always friendly, coffee is always fresh, and food is good… no complaints!

Ohh the Michigan coney island is something I definitely miss in Chicago. Opa! Opa! is of the highest coney island caliber. I am consistently pleased with their food and my most recent visit was no exception. I went there for breakfast and found the hash browns and over easy eggs delightful. Their Greek bread toast is perfect. Wonderful service too!

It’s snowing again. Huge shocker. Since I had no desire to die on the highway at the hands of someone who thought they could maintain speeds of 70 mph or plus, I decided to dine somewhere very very local. I ordered up what was called the Greek Trio. This trio was spinach pie, pastitsio, and moussaka. They were all meh, but satisfied the hunger. The spinach pie crust was pretty mushy, no flakiness or crispiness. The other two dishes were not memorable. The side dishes included rice with some type of gravy over it, peas, and a side salad. All of it was pretty meh. This is a typical neighborhood diner. You can basically find locals here and get what one would expect in a diner, be it sandwiches to hot roast beef sandwiches. You can also find families with their kids. The prices are also decent. This is one of the few times that I think the old folks eat here out of laziness than anything else. All in all, pretty average diner. Perhaps I’ll be back to try the breakfast since the last reviewer says their toast is «the best toast ever».
