Large bar. Decent service. Been there 4 or 5 times. Always come away with the feeling that the place needs a cleaning. Bar is sticky. Floor messy. Not been open long but it really looks well used

Drinks were great, food was decent. Went there one night and sat outside. Atmosphere was good. Loved our waitress. I wouldn’t say anything about the place was bad. It is a great space and has a wonderful outdoor seating area. It’s a shame it isn’t more busy. But I can give the drinks 5 stars, because they were top notch!

Atmosphere is great. This is my first time here. It’s a nice, beautiful Saturday. I ordered the crispy calamari, which is $ 10.75. When it came to the table it literally had 10 pieces in a cone full of lettuce, I was so disappointed for the price. Service is not top notch, horribly slow and they seem to be short staff. *** Talk with Brian, the manager. After he heard us out, he quickly responded professionally and brought out more crispy calamari(on the house).

Here on a Saturday night. Great weather for the patio. Drinks were great and atmosphere was chill. So happy to have a down to earth place to hang out in Allen!

I went to this place for Happy Hour and the martinis are outstanding. The food is ok. The atmosphere was outstanding. We sat outside and that day it wasn’t too hot nor was it too cold. I ordered the trio chips and my fellow companions ordered calamari and flatbread pizza along with some wings. There was a issue with the wait on the food but I wouldn’t just down the place for that. The calamari was late getting to the table but we were not charged for it. I would go back again for the Happy Hour and order another martini. The Allen location I think is great because it is not so crowded it is just the right amount of people.

At first, I didn’t see why the reviews for this place were bad. The first time that I went to Bar Louie(about 3 weeks ago), things were almost perfect. It was a Saturday night so the place was crowded.(…as a «good» bar should be on a Saturday…) At the time, I went ahead and ignored the bad Unilocal reviews because the online menu looked like it had some good food and drink choices, and I’m usually willing to try a place at least once. To my surprise, the food that night was excellent and the service was great. I ordered the chicken nachos as an appetizer, and I ordered the BBQ burger with fries as an entrée. The plate of nachos was huge, and they loaded them with delicious toppings. The burger was cooked to perfection. I was happy. If I had written this review that night then I would have given this place 5 stars. But,(fast forward 3 weeks) I went to Bar Louie again and I could swear that I must have been in the Twilight Zone because everything had changed. That night, the mask came off and the reason for their bad Unilocal reviews revealed its ugly face. The service was bad, the drink that I ordered was bad, and the food was even worse. Let me elaborate. The place was almost empty this time, but it still took half an hour for our food to be prepared. Also, the server didn’t have any knowledge of the menus. Anytime I asked a question, this person could not answer it.(Maybe this person was new. If so, I can understand putting them on the floor when it’s not crowded. But, it just didn’t make for a good dining experience.) While I waited for the food, I ordered a simple alcoholic drink and it tasted terrible. It was watered down and the lime that came with it for flavor tasted very sour like it was rotten or something. Then, the food came out. Have you ever seen a beautiful basket of fruit sitting on a table, picked up a piece of the fruit because it looked so delicious, bit into it, and then discovered that the fruit was fake? That’s how the food was at Bar Louie on this night. I don’t know what happened to make all of the food so different from the first night that I went, but it was bad enough to make me write this review. I, once again, ordered the chicken nachos and the BBQ burger. They were both disgusting. They looked good from a distance; but, upon taking one bite of each item I knew that things had changed. The cheese and chicken on the nachos were dry and the sour cream was ice cold. Even the chips tasted stale like they had been sitting out in the open for a long time. Also, I asked for my burger to be cooked medium; but, instead they cooked it burnt. The meat, literally, was black on the outside and brown on the inside. And, I guess to balance everything out, the cook went ahead and burned the fries too. I try not to be a negative person, but there was no effort put into the cooking of this food to make it good and satisfying; and, I think that’s a big problem when you have customers who are trying to carefully choose where to spend their hard-earned money and who can choose to go anywhere else for food. The only reasons that I’m giving this place two stars is because the ambiance and arrangement of the restaurant is really nice and the server(because I never even saw a manager) removed the food items from my ticket since they were not cooked properly. I’m not sure if I will go back to this place again or not. Maybe I’ll try it once more for a tie-breaker.

Very surprised when I went here on a Saturday night and it wasn’t very crowded and I was able to find parking in front of the restaurant. This area is notoriously bad for parking. Then we walked in and there was no hostess to receive us and direct us where to sit. Not a big problem but it was strange. Suggest a sign in the front of the restaurant that indicates self service seating. Otherwise our server was attentive enough and things didn’t take extremely long. I ordered the salmon sliders and they were very good. Salmon was tender and not overcooked. Only complaint is the fries were warm and not hot. Otherwise, I was satisfied enough. Had the peach sans gria and that was good. Wanted to try the real sangria but at $ 10 per glass, that was just too expensive and I didn’t have to have alcohol to enjoy my drink.

To be fair. This is my third visit, and my first two visits went pretty well. BUT! This third visit will most likely be my last as it was that terrible. Though our waitress was very polite, she wasn’t very knowledgeable. We asked about different drinks to try. And she couldn’t give any tips or suggestions. The dishes we received were dirty!(YUCK!) I ordered the chicken Nachos with no beans and extra cheese. What I got was nachos with hardly any cheese AND with beans. The waitress replaced our order. But still hardly any cheese or meat. And the cheese was lukewarm. I asked for my Louie burger to be cooked medium with the egg fried over hard. What I got was a burnt burger(The bottom was pitch black and crunchy) and an egg that was runny. My hubby ordered a shot of tequila and he swears it was half water. Needless to say. We most likely won’t be back.

We waited 20 minutes for drinks. Then we waited for food. All night long we waited for drinks after the food. We waited 30 minutes to get our check. Worst service I’ve had in a year anywhere.

Me and my plus one decided to try this place out February 14th at about 1:00am on a Saturday night. I had heard good things about it on the radio and wanted to see for myself. We walked in and decided to just go sit at the bar. We walked up and sat down and started admiring the place. Dim lit room, beautiful bar set up, catchy music, comfortable bar stools, I was sure this place was going to be my new Kellys. Wrong. There were two bartenders working and it was relatively slow for a Saturday night, I guess do to it being Valentine’s Day weekend? Anyhow, one of the bartenders came up after a couple minutes and this is how it went. Bartender: Know what yall would like? Me: «Can I get the Victory Golden Monkey?» He didn’t say anything and then turned and just looked at my plus one with a blank stare. Plus one: «Uhh haha I don’t really know what I want» And he throws her a menu and walks away to get my beer. He comes back and sets it down and then just looks to her again without saying anything. She tells him what she wants and then just walks away without even a simple,” okay”. He came back with her drink a few minutes later. It was about 1:15 when we had gotten our drinks. About 15 minutes goes by and in that whole time he hadn’t checked in on us, he just kept doing his cleaning duties. My plus one had finished her drink and I had a few sips left in mine and he finally came by and asked how the drinks were. We said fine but as soon as we did he walked away again. The other bartender, what I was guessing was the manager, only came by once that whole time and asked how we were. Didn’t see him the rest of the time. 1:30 had come and I was tired of waiting with empty drinks and slow, horrible service so we tabbed out and left. The whole time he never said anything until we were leaving and said have a good night. My advice, don’t come here if you’re trying to get a buzz or even just two drinks. As for the prices, they are a bit high. We didn’t eat anything given we didn’t have the opportunity so I cant say anything about the food. They do have a decent choice in beer on draft but it isn’t anything special considering there’s an actual craft beer bar down the road called the Brass Tap with way better prices. Here’s my summary: Pros –Big patio –Small selection of craft beer and local breweries –Awesome decoration and setting Cons –Expensive –Horrible service –Management seems to not care about anything To the bartenders and servers, I know we all have our bad days. I’m a server as well. I never tip shitty and I didn’t that night either. But if I had gotten at least decent service, I would’ve tipped way more than 20 percent. Its all about the service and just a simple smile can do so much. Hope this place gets better but until then I can go somewhere else with craft beer with better service.

Met a colleague for drinks and apps prior to a local trade group meeting. Bar Louie prides itself on it’s craft martinis. I’m not normally a cocktail guy, but I decided that the cucumber/mint martini sounded rather interesting. It was outstanding. So was the second. We shared meatball and pot sticker apps, which are two of my perennial BL favorites. Bar Louie is a cool place. Visit during happy hour for great drink and app specials.

I wasn’t at all surprised when I saw all the locations weighed in at 3 stars. That is exactly how I feel about them too. MEhhh. I was excited to try it when they first opened the Allen location. It is VERY informal. I’ve been here about 3 or 4 times and everytime there is no hostess. Sometimes if the staff is paying attention they will holler at you to find a table and«someone will be right with you!» My best suggestion: Order beer. And stick with that. Or anything else other than the specialty martinis or cocktails. I have tried the lemon martini and the margarita. Blah! They taste like crappy mixer that was just thrown together with the bartender’s eyes closed. The servers are usually attractive but haven’t been the brightest crayons. I will say the patio is big and good for groups/parties. The bathroom stinks. I am not sure what is smells like but it smells bad. I’ve had the wings. They also get 3 stars! Wish I could say more. I’m not really sure what it is they are going for. Not the food, not the drinks, not the service… hmmmm

Don’t waste your time here. When you get and eat your appetizers before you get your drinks in a place that has Bar in its name it is really bad. They will not see us again.

Layout is nice and patio is pretty big. That’s about all the positives I can come up with for this place. Went the first time a couple of weeks ago before a concert at Allen Event Center. The restaurant was full but management and staff clearly were not prepared for it. It took almost 20 min to even be greeted. At least that was enough time to figure out what we wanted to order so when the server finally came by, we ordered drinks, appetizer and supper. The fried calamari came out pretty quickly but it was pretty small, especially for the price. It was fine… not bad, not great. We still didn’t have our drinks by the time we finished the appetizer though. Waited about 25 minutes for our dinners to show up and when they did, they were cold and we still didn’t have our drinks. Server never brought water either. She said someone else took our drinks from the bar so she reordered them and took them off our bill. Still took another 10 minutes to get them. We were finished with our dinners by that point. Asked for our check when the drinks finally showed up. Only took about 90 seconds to get that. Asked for a manager to come over after we’d been there for 40 minutes without drinks but(s)he never showed up. Just a miserable experience. Server was nice, but there’s no reasonable excuse for it to take an hour to get a drink. If the food had been better than Applebee’s we might give them another shot but it was bland and not cheap. Bad food, bad service, and cowardly managers doesn’t seem like a recipe for success.

My wife and I decided to try this place with our kids for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We had heard of it and how it has a good selection of beers on draft. Well, it was pretty dead when we arrived and we were told that you choose your own table, so we did. When 10 Minutes later, nobody had checked in on us, we flagged down a waitress to order our drinks. The waitress apologized and took our order a little disinterested. It went fine until we got to me and I asked what local beers they had on draft(per their menu — ask you server for more local options). She:“I don’t really know, I know we have one from McKinney or something“ I gave her a blank look, since that wasn’t really helpful. She:“Oh, I know we have a bee from Deep Ellum, an IPA.“ ME:“I’m not really an IPA fan-” Her interjecting:“Well I like it!“ I was silent for a moment since that isn’t really helpful either and a little combative. Now she’s giving me a blank stare. So me:“Uhm, on the menu it has a Peticolas Rotator, which one do you currently have?“ She:“I don’t really know.” *blank stare* Me, after a moment of silence:“Uh, could you check?“ She:“Oh, sure…“ Well, 5 minutes later she came back with the answer and we ordered the food. We ordered some appetizers and want on to start ordering for our kids when she said:“Oh, we have a kids menu, too, do you want to see it?” «Uh, yes please, that would be nice.» Anyway, another 5 minutes later she came back and we finished the ordering. The food came out relatively fast. We tried the three dips and chips, which has guacamole, queso and salsa. All three were decent, but not spectacular. My tortilla soup was definitely filled with a very generous helping of chicken, but it tasted weird, almost a little fishy. Oh well. We also had ordered boneless wings, which we wanted half Buffalo and half Szechuanese sauce. When it came out it clearly was all Buffalo. When she asked if everything was ok, I asked:“Uhm, which ones are the Szechuanese, they all look the same?“ She:“Oh, really? Hmm… Do you want some Szechuanese sauce on the side.” ME:“Uhm, ok, that would be nice, thanks.“ Anyway, the food was ok, including the burger my wife had and the Mac’n’cheese my boys ordered, but nothing special. Overall it just was not great and the service was bizarre, especially considering they were not busy. I don’t think we need to come back, especially since Brass Tap is now open and they were all around better.

Bar Louie is a great addition to the Allen area night life. This week is their grand opening and they have $ 2 martinis and free appetizers to celebrate it. The place have a very nice and spacious patio and the inside is warm, intimate and not too bright as oppose to other restaurants. I wasn’t expecting a great, over the top service because it’s very busy and with the rate of people ordering martinis back to back. I imagined it would be a chaos but surprisingly not. Servers are helping each other from taking orders to getting rid of empty glasses and plates. They have good selections of free appetizers from the menu and I’m sure it won’t disappoint you. We had the sliders and calamari which were cooked perfect hence the chaos of people ordering food and drinks back to back. I think this is a good stress test for the staff and I really think they did a well heck of a job.
