Been purchasing burgers here for 7 years since moving to Allen, but as of Jan 2016, they have now posted the 30.07 regulation prohibiting legal Open Carry of a firearm, my right as a citizen of Texas. They have legally posted the sign, which is their option. I am exercising my right to «vote with my feet».

My husband and I had lunch here today. It was ok but at $ 30+ for two burger platters and one shake, doubt we’ll be back. For that price we could have eaten in a full service restaurant and had something a little more impressive than a burger.

We have been coming to this place since it opened and since then, we’ve been seeing the quality going down, prices going up and service … What service ??? Management is just careless staff is clueless and the ordering system just very poorly planned and designed . You stand in a line over ONE cash register whole 10 others are behind in line waiting and giving you the look just because you are the one getting the orders taken by a staff member who doesn’t give a damn. Food: overpriced — over or under cooked Portion: used to be good but now much smaller Service: ½ star — very slow Cleanliness: none — actually very nasty Allen resident — won’t be back again

First time here so let me get this out of the way. Your Tortilla soup is atrocious. My mom used to make this for us all the time so I feel pretty good about being in the position to discern the difference between atrocious and authentic. My advice? Get it off the menu immediately. Now on to the better news. I ordered the original burger platter. The burger was pretty awesome, the best since I’ve moved to Texas 2 months ago. The fries were overcooked by about 30 seconds. Ya I’m pretty precise with stuff like that… I will definitely be back for the burgers but ya, get rid of that tortilla soup asap!

Tasty burgers. Tasty fries. Nice spread out dining area. Classy recess lighting. The food is good quality and comes out in a short time frame after ordering up front when you walk in. There is some group seating in the back. The décor is historic Allen. Nice place!

Great place to grab a burger or chicken sandwich. Offer plenty of gluten free options and ensure fries are cooked separate from not gluten foods.

I come here often and I’ve never had a bad experience. The staff is nice and the place is pretty clean. I typically order a turkey burger with mushrooms, the food always comes out fast and hot. Three stars is not because the food isn’t good, I enjoy a burger from Scotty’s. I gave three stars because they are good at what they do, making yummy burgers. The portions are more than enough, it’s a good experience and a good burger. While this place doesn’t have a WOW factor, they are consistent and kid friendly, and I will return often.

Ate here the other night for the first time despite living here since 99. Was really good and I’m disappointed I didn’t try it sooner. Food was good. Sizes were great. Taste was excellent. Fries w/cheddar were excellent. The boys and I will be coming back.

Best burgers and onion rings ever. Service is awesome and I will be returning to try new items on the menu. Hamburgers are not greasy which is nice. Nor are the onion rings or french fries. Nice atmosphere. Would like to see the ability for customers to change the channels versus the staff their choices in TV channel suck

Food is still good, however portions are significantly smaller than before. The hamburger compares to a junior size burger elsewhere. Not cool for $ 6.99

Great burger joint! Surrounded by dark wood, the low lighting and slow blues music creates a very relaxing atmosphere. But with the few flat screens hanging from the ceiling, you get the feeling that the energy could be a little different during prime time sporting events. The burgers, which are cooked at medium well unless otherwise specified, hit the spot! Melle and I got The Preston, which was made with their signature chili. They offered us a sample of the chili before we ordered, which was an unexpected and much appreciated surprise! FYI, the chili wasn’t too spicy and certainly wasn’t bland. We ordered our burgers as «an entrée». This allowed us a side of fries. The fries were perfectly cooked! Not too crispy and not too soft. We ate our burgers over the fries. I’m sure you’ve guessed why. All in all, a great dining experience!

I suppose it could be argued that a burger with a mostly cool, mostly pink center could be described as «medium well». I’m just not sure I love having that point argued by the manager. Alrighty then. Thanks for grudgingly remaking our burgers. And for schooling us on what constitutes medium well. Or just plain cooked through, for that matter. That’ll be helpful next time. (Just kidding about there being a next time, of course.)

I hit Scotty P’s as part of a cheeseburger crawl. I sat down to a Hatch Green Chile Cheeseburger. I already had some good cheeseburger’s that night and my taste buds and stomach were fairly satiated already, so I bit into the burger with mixed emotions. Fire roasted hatch green chiles, jalapeño pepper jack cheese, onion strings on an amazing bun. Wow — the taste was amazing. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to slap someone’s momma or hit a baby. I walked outside to re-gather my blown mind and fortunately there was a lady holding a baby — two birds with one stone! I returned to my seat for more and then I felt the subliminal heat that was slowly creeping in. Wow, it felt good. The burger was so good it disappeared very quickly. I then noticed there were some really good fries and onion rings on my plate, somehow during my burger ecstasy I hadn’t noticed them. As full as I was, they are delicious too. And the burger was paired wisely with an Oreo cookie shake to take the edge off the heat — roll me out the door I am done. Scotty P’s — you have a new fan!

What you want in a restaurant is good food, friendly, helpful service staff, cleanliness and a good environment. Scotty P’s fits the bill. I didn’t try any off the menu items, but hey, this isn’t In-N-Out, right?

The Chipotle across the parking lot was overcrowded, so Scotty P’s in Allen became plan B. I had the chicken kebab special and my boyfriend got a burger. The kebab was great, chargrilled, accompanied with pita bread, a nice side of tzaziki sauce and a side salad with a really good vinaigrette. His burger was huge and came with some tasty, fresh fries. We had to take our order to go because we walked in at 7:00PM on a Sunday night, which was right as they were closing for the day. The staff seemed a little listless, but I they were about to start shutting it down so I couldn’t blame them. I would go back for the kebab special again, it’s a good alternative to something greasy and hastily inhaled on a Sunday night. The portion sizes were good and everything was freshly made.

Simple review for this one. I had been to Scotty P’s before but not in a long time. With so many good burger places, it’s hard to get back to them. I was in the Allen area and visiting friends and after leaving their home, I was a bit hungry and I saw Scotty P’s. I had a really good mushroom swiss burger with some bbq sauce and I was happy again. Good, solid burger, cooked the right way and the meat was seasoned well. It was the right size too, not over the top. Enjoy.

31 filtered reviews, Wow! I agree, it isn’t anything special. I feel ripped off when I have to spend $ 10 for a burger and fries. I know of several other places that actually flame grill their burgers(Stan’s Lakeview Tap house, in The Colony, is in my opinion the best burger around), and don’t charge as much for their burgers. It’s just a burger! Not a steak. Way over priced. Yes, JC’s makes a good burger, and it is less expensive.

We’ve been going to Scotty P’s for years. The burgers are moist and come in a variety of styles. Fries are crisp, and onion rings are usually a little underdone, but not bad. The grilled chicken is fantastic. It’s marinated for extra flavor, and moist every time. The grilled tenders with honey mustard are a favorite. The grilled chicken sandwich, Caesar salad or Greek salad with chicken are great as well. Decent shakes. Self-serve fountain drink and iced tea refills are free. The ambiance is dark but comfortable, and the restaurant still looks fresh even after years of serving customers. The walls are covered with historic photos of people and places in Allen, which make for interesting conversation pieces. There are lots of well-padded booths, and the tables can be easily arranged for large families and parties. TVs are usually running local/network news or sports. Overall, Scotty P’s is a great burger house, especially if you’re looking for something different on your burger. No frills, but you get what you pay for.

I think I’m going to start my own scale here; really, this place is worth 3.5 stars, but based on my admittedly limited experience, I don’t think I can go 4. I had a chili cheeseburger and«junior» onion rings to go. The burgers are 6 oz(a smidge above 1⁄3 lb, a pretty good size), but not cooked to order(all are cooked well done). This resulted in the meat being a little dry, but not overly so. The bun was a fresh sesame seed roll; it added a nice flair. Chili was OK but not outstanding. The onion rings were quite good. Big, wide rings with a complete batter coating; they had a good crunch, but could have stood being in the fryer another minute or so. Both items were hot, despite my to-go bag having sat for a few minutes(my fault). Bottom line: Cook the burger a bit less and the rings a bit more, and we’re close to 4 star territory. Again, though, this is one visit on one day, so your mileage may vary.
