Great place to go with friends – coffee, tea, beer, food. Awesome latte! Yummy blueberry muffin«donut».

Favorite place to stop when passing through Amarillo after a long drive. Sitting from long hours of driving isn’t the healthiest thing on the body so this is a godsend for road trippers who want something healthy(not another drive thru), energizing(coffee/tea), and a nice break from the driver’s seat. Open late, healthy food options, and a great selection of various green teas to choose from. Jackpot.

Was in Amarillo overnight on my way to Dallas. Had read the reviews on this place and had loved the owner/manager comments back to some of the reviews. I had to visit it. I loved it. Funky, old school, charming. I came to try their drink called«The Tweaker» — coffee and espresso. It kept me jacked up to drive all the way back to Dallas. The artwork is NOT offensive as stated in one Unilocal review — it didn’t bother me in the slightest. If I lived in Amarillo, I would be at the 806 each day. Great little place.

As a native Houstonian, I appreciate this hipster coffee spot. The interior looked as if whoever decorated it wanted it to look cool, but the kind of cool where you don’t want anyone to think you cared to make it look cool. Also, I think they started making coffee here before it was even in style, so… All joking aside, I ordered the green tea chai latte and my boyfriend ordered a cortado, which wasn’t on the menu but the barista was kind enough to make anyways. It was also happy hour on espresso drinks, so my boyfriend only paid $ 2 for his cortado. The green tea chai latte was kind of bland, but I think I just ordered the wrong thing because the cortado was really good. They also serve food here and alcohol, but I’ll have to try those at a later time. And the barista was super nice :)

The only redeeming quality about this place was the actual food. But even though the food was good I would never return to this place for any reason. Nude photography was plastered on every wall attempting to be «art.» The woman working while we were there was unnecessarily rude to my wife when she had her feet slightly propped on the edge of a coffee table. All situations can be handled with manners but none were used in this scenario when she basically scolded my wife like a child. We were excited to actually find a place with vegan and vegetarian options; however, while we were there it just felt like a bunch of people were stuck up their own asses trying to give the impression that they were actually a professional business. It’s not exactly easy trying to eat a bagel when you’re having to stare at pictures of nude women and men’s genitalia the whole time, but I can handle seeing that material being that I’m a grown man. I would just hate for someone to bring their kids or teenager in this place without knowing the environment. Not appropriate for all ages.

Unique vegetarian coffee house! They have beer as well. The atmosphere is one of a well aged coffee shop and the clientele represent a diverse group that makes the experience of working, surfing, or hanging out here all the more enjoyable. They also have a broad selection of board games and a designated area for smoking should you feel inclined. I definitely didn’t expect a place like this to be in Amarillo, it made the Austinite in me feel at home.

Great food!!! Stopped by on my way to Houston and was really surprised! The Pot Head specialty drink is to die for … Great food, had the hummus sandwich and feta pita bread — great! Just a real relaxed atmosphere… Will visit again, when driving thru — who knows when but I will definitely stop by… You should too!!!

One of my old favorites or ex-favorites? I’d go down here for a drink on my days off while in town. My favorite drink of theirs is the Oh Dream, it’s like a dreamSicle but in a lightly carbonated form. Unfortunately the atmosphere isn’t comfortable so we never stay to long anymore. The parking in the back is so ganky with deep potholes everywhere. The last time I ordered an Oh Dream it tasted as if someone accidentally spilled a little orange juice and milk into water. Not to mention getting some sass from one of the staff. This use to be one of my go-to places, but sadly not anymore.

Totally decent migas, proper mug of tea, courteous service, local erotic folk art, and The Cramps playing on the sound system. Good morning Amarillo!

Very good vegetarian food, and a clean, warm, and well-lighted lounge with decent internet-access. Warning: Bohemian erotica art may offend your grandmother!

Bar/live music at night, café in the morning/during the day, this is an interesting little place. You get the artistic coffee shop vibe as soon as you walk in. Local artists’ work decorates the walls and you can pick how intimate you want your coffee times to be, from the front out in the middle of everything, to the room off to the side with the aquarium and couch, to the little room in the back with a mini library of books/puzzles/games and like 3 tables. The coffee is yummy and so is their noms! I was pleasantly surprised to find they have a vegan chili. ^_^ It made me a happy girl.

As an addendum in response to the business reply… I didn’t mean to make it personal at all, and I’m sorry that any frustrated comment I made was apparently so piquing that you felt the need to respond in such defense. I also was not suggesting you should adhere to a particular style, to subscribe to whatever third wave” dictums are out there, or whatever– I prefer when places have good coffee and aren’t snotty about it. Those criticisms I would never have levied if there didn’t seem to be a dismissiveness and attitude that(here in LA) often comes with coffee snobbery, and I was frustrated to seem to find it even in Amarillo– so I was merely wondering where the attendant technical aspects were if I was going to get the dismissive treatment. I was referring to other’s drinks that I saw, yes, not my own. Which again– I would never have considered making a stylistic criticism if I wasn’t already thinking that you seemed so annoyed, and wondering why I was getting that without the pretentious setting to go along. I can certainly chalk it up to a bad commingling on things, but I’ve had long surprise shifts too and I still manage not to be rude to people who aren’t at fault… I think you’re misremembering a bit(though impressively not on the drinks) because I’m not referring to when I was on the phone getting an order while you were making our first drinks– I’m referring to when we came back in after leaving entirely. I was never on the phone then and you were looking at something on the iPad screen and I just stood there awkwardly for a good while wondering if I was REALLY pushing it by coming back again, since I didn’t even get a «one second» to signify that you saw me and were finishing something up. It felt more like«Are these people really coming back for more?» The 007 said –from what I recall — + ice, shaken, which I took to mean that when one opted to add milk it was like a short-milk shaken iced latte, yes. It would’ve been fine to be told otherwise, but it was the response when I was surprised of «it’s already cold…» In that mentioned«duh» tone that annoyed me right back. I could tell it was cold. Having ice and being cold aren’t the same thing, so I wasn’t sure what warranted the«you must be retarded» response. I wasn’t looking for a drive-through, I WAS looking for that face to face experience… which is why I left happy with the coffee but disappointed otherwise. I was thrilled that Amarillo had good coffee, as that was a shock to me, but perhaps that’s why I was also so disappointed to have the experience I did and hence made some too-sharp comments in frustration. Wish I hadn’t, since I’ve got nothing against Amarillo(where my family lives) or you personally. Nonetheless the less impassioned part of my review stands and you might consider that there’s something to it, when you see that other 3 star or less reviews mention the same issue. There was no agonizing on my part, just a little disappointment.

Great coffee place that also serves beer and food. It’s got a unique atmosphere that I was pleasantly surprised to find in Amarillo. We went there for drinks after dinner and found it to be fairly full on a week night but not too crowded to find seats. My favorite part is that their whip cream for drinks has coffee in it. Coffee whip cream??? Yes, please! The only downside is the smoking which caught us by surprise. :(But as someone else pointed out, it’s a lounge :(

Very good tea and coffee choices. However, emphasis on «Lounge.» We were not greeted with the waft of roasted coffee as we walked in, but rather the stale cloud of cigarettes. Although the smoke was too strong for us to stay for our drinks, my green tea latte was excellent. Much better than Starbucks! The atmosphere may be nice for some tastes, but to us it seemed quite dingy and dirty. Maybe we just came at a slow time so he was tired. Not sure. Service was polite and cordial but not warm.

What a wonderful spot hidden in Amarillo, TX. Found this little gem while road tripping and looking for a healthy place to eat and a quick caffeine pick-me-up. I was happy to find that the Café has great drinks and good food + the place itself is very well done. There is great natural lighting and plenty of art to look at. Overall I enjoyed my stop here for lunch/a drink as I drove through Amarillo, TX.

Welcome to the 806! Visiting from the SF Bay Area, we have been on the search for a Jasmine Tea for a day and a half, and then eureka! We were referred by a local by the name of Tristan(thank you)!! Best Jasmine Tea in Texas! Love that this local business is on the Historic Route 66 and in the artsy district of A-town! Thank you for the great Jasmine and we will see you next time!

Funky little coffee shop on 6th street! The place is decorated with interesting artwork, the staff is friendly, and the drinks are delicious — the hot chocolate is my favorite. The 806 offers a small selection of beers, a full menu of coffee, tea, and other craft beverages, and they have a small selection of foods as well. We always liked this place to stop and study, or to just hang out with friends.

I had searched Unilocal for some vegetarian friendly places to stop for lunch along our route, and this place seemed like an easy stop not far off the highway(and was also right next to a gelato shop). We arrived around one in the afternoon(or maybe it was two, we might not have changed the clock yet). We easily found street parking right out front. Other reviewers have mentioned the odd smell when you walk in, and we certainly experienced that. The order counter is not clearly visible when you first walk in, which was briefly confusing. We ordered the edamame hummus, the tabouli salad, and a green tea chai, which came to just about $ 14. The hummus was a bit spicy, so my sister ended up eating most of it. The tabouli salad had a good portion of red onions, and was also served with pita. They do charge 25c if you want a plastic cup for water. The décor of the little alcove we sat in was pretty neat — a big round mirror with a half moon, a lamp fashioned from an old coffee pump pot, and another from a stack of old books, pictures of astronomers, and a big bookcase of books and board games. Very neat little place worth checking out if you’re passing through Amarillo.
