Went for two sundaes tonight. Should have turned around and left, like the woman before me. It was a disaster behind counter. No organization at all ! Waited behind a woman with two children while they ordered two ice creams. Finally placed my order with a polite gentleman who was doing the best he could. He actually left register and jumped back to help make orders. I’m meantime, one girl, MacKenzie, was struggling making 4 sundaes for a guy who had been waiting since before I got there. Watched her scoop the ice cream and take it off the scoop with her gloved hand. Then she couldn’t find the right lid, so she went out back still wearing the gloves and she never took them off. By the time the guy got his order, they were already melted. So now after going who knows where, and coughing into gloved hand, she’s makes her next order. Again she takes ice cream off scoop and puts it in cup with the same gloved hand and delivers order to the woman after me. Now no one is making my order and she asks what I had. I tell her two sundaes and she turns and starts muttering to another worker. I ask if there was a problem and she developed real attitude. I then asked for someone else to make my order. I don’t want her making my ice cream with her hands, wearing the contaminated glove. That polite gentleman stepped up and made my order. MacKenzie went on break to the parking lot and verbally mocked me as I left and drove away. She made sure that I’ll never go back!

Stopped by last night to just order ice cream. I stood at the order counter and at least 6 staff members saw me and did not acknowledge me. They basically ignored me. I stood there for 15 minutes being polite and patient. I hate being rude. I actually had to ask if I was standing at the right area to order ice cream. She said that I was and there was just the two of them. So, whoever owns this or manages this place — from a lot of the reviews– you suck at managing your staff here(i could hear them talking about how another employee was not there and continuing to talk about that employee in a negative light) and there is no customer service because it seems like all your employees are angry and ignore customers. I’m pretty sure if I was quiet and continued to wait patiently I could have been there for 30 minutes. Will never go here again unless I can grab something in the freezer and pay for it quick.

I’m going to be honest, it is only a matter of time before this location closes. Not only is it understaffed and disgusting inside, but the service is mediocre at best. Not only did we wait forever to get a drink order put in, we never got refills and I was choking on my waffle fries! We decided to just pile our trash in one of the displays since no one cared to check in at our table. I hate being rude but this place sucks! I may come back for a sundae, but to wait 30 mins for that seems outlandish.

Found a four inch hair in my sandwich, so that was nice. Place is dirty just like all the others. Service was some of the slowest i have ever felt with, and to top it all off we had to clean our own table. The bus boy came by with a bin to the table and we had to reach in this filthy bucket and put our dirty dishes in there. Horrible, just horrible.

If you want warm food, do not call ahead!!! You will stand in line once you get there for twenty plus minutes before they acknowledge you or are done taking walk in orders. Meanwhile your food sits there on the counter just getting cold! I’m not even sure how they are still in business. For an ice cream establishment, they consistently are out of ice team flavored. I have better luck getting the fri belts flavor I want right down the street at good olé Stop n Shop, who consistently stocks everything that Friendly’s never has.

We stopped for ice cream, and I was very disappointed. The ice cream was normal for Friendly’s, it doesn’t vary from location to location, but it took almost 45 minutes to get 4 cups to go. I was shocked. We ordered through the takeout window, and I expected it would take maybe 5 minutes. Definitely no more than 10. We would have left but we had already paid, and everyone vanished so we couldn’t cancel the order. It was almost a surreal experience. If you just want ice cream, go to a small roadside stand. It’s New England, there’s tons of them!

Friendly’s is generally good, but the staff at this location are awful. I waited almost 20 minutes for 1 Sunday. I asked for extra hot fudge. I got little hot fudge and more peanut butter than ice cream. Thanks, lady! They’ve messed up my orders before, too. They need new employees. I overheard them all complaining and making fun of things they’re supposed to say to customers– in front of customers. Not impressed. Especially when a regular advertised Sunday is over $ 6.00.

Ordered online at 8PM, with confirmation that order would be ready at 8:30PM. Arrived at 8:30 and was informed they were out of my side(waffle fries) but no reason to fuss. Strike one. Nothing in hand until 9:00PM. It took an hour(ordered at 8PM mind you…) to throw some chicken and lettuce into a styrofoam box and cook some fries? Strike two. Received two spoons and a knife, no fork for an order of a salad and fries. Strike three. Should’ve gone to the burger king…

This Friendlys was anything but. We stopped in for a quick but after a long drive and we were not seated for over 5 minutes. There were plenty of open tables, just a completely inattentive wait staff. After finally being seated at a table that was barely cleaned with the bench covered in chocolate, we were ignored for another 10 minutes without any water or even being greeted by a server. After the waitress promptly arrived at another table seated after us and apologized for the wait, we decided to leave. I would think for a place that prides itself on a fun welcoming atmosphere that friendly service would be a priority. Obviously not the case here.

Ordered the $ 5 special All American burger. Asked to omit the cheese and mayo but to add bacon, which was $.99 extra. For dessert, ordered my favorite Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup sundae with chocolate ice cream instead of the normal vanilla for $ 5.99, 3 scoops. The meal was delicious! Our server Megan was very friendly, helpful, and efficient.

The service was prompt, but when my meatloaf arrived there was a stray piece of cheese(I think) stuck to the top of it. The waitress immediately offered to have the kitchen cook a new one and when the manager came over she seemed annoyed that we complained about the accidental cheese. I explained that I didnt complain but was offered new food. In the end the manager was pretty rude. I ended up cancelling the order so I cant really say if it was good or not. The burger that my girlfriend ate was good, as was the chicken sandwich the 11 year old ordered. Ive heard the fribbles are good too. All in all I give two stars only for the other orders being tasty. I would call it «unfriendly’s» though and would pass on this next time.

My food was okay, but the waitstaff was not so much. We had four waitresses in the half hour we were there, and none of them seemed glad to see us. I have no idea what was going on.

Flew into Boston on a really bad day and couldn’t wait to get to my hotel. However, I was hungry and didn’t feel like looking around — so I walked over to the Friendly’s restaurant right next door. I’ve been there before, but not as a «Yelper». It was a tad bit late and I believe the staff was more about going home then sitting my at a table, but they put on their big boy faces and sat me at the closest table there is. The place was typical clean for a late Monday night I suppose — pieces of food on the floor, bathroom not the best, but certainly not bad! Prices on par, and food selections were good for what it is and flavor was actually very good. Overall — I’d say Friendly’s was friendly enough for a late night meal and I’d certainly go back! Three solid stars!

Great service! Nicole our waitress was great! She split our kids meal onto 2 plates before bringing it to the table. And Kaylee got MnM’s because Thrace had some on his ice cream. Thanks for a great meal!

This place is hit or miss. Sometimes the waiters are super friendly and great with kids. Other times its like walking into a rehab center. I dont need people reeking of smoke serving my kids. I have to say the one in Plaistow is WAY better.

If you’re in Amesbury and you’re looking for a Friendly’s, do yourself a favor and drive the 10 minutes to Plaistow. I ordered the clam chowder, and it was terribly cold and solid; basically one big glob. When I asked the waitress to take it back, she gave us attitude. The hamburgers are very dry. Perhaps the only good part of this Friendly’s is that it still has the carnival mural that all Friendly’s used to have. Still, the Plaistow Friendly’s is bigger, cleaner, and better overall.

This place is great. We came here on Saturday night and it was packed. The food was inexpensive and ok but the service was pretty slow. Its not often that you can take a family of four to dinner and get dessert for less than $ 40. If you want a quick, inexpensive meal you can always count on the consistent quality of Friendly’s.

C’mon! Who rates Friendly’s 5 stars? Even the cleanest, best run Friendly’s are a 3 – 4 star establishment. Their entrees are weak. I only trust them for a relatively cheap burger even then they give me fries that are waaay lame. I have some nostalgia for Friendly’s as it was my idea of ‘fine dining’ growing up. That is to say, a step up from McDonald’s and Chinese take-out. But c’mon. 5 stars? Since I was a kid, Friendly’s has gone through some restructuring and this location has been remodeled 2x. Now, on the other hand a Friendly’s ice cream sundae is what justifies a rating over 2 stars. I periodically crave a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Sundae there. pass

Different Friendly’s can be hit it miss but this one is great! Service is fast, even when the place is full, which it often is at dinner time. The food is consistent which is important for a kid’s restaurant.

At Friendly’s you know exactly what you are going to get so I can’t in good conscience give it more than 3 stars. The same is true here. Pull the divider out for the groups. Lotsa kids. Birthday singing. TEENAGERS. Junk food any way you look at it. The do offer a few outdoor tables for the take out ice cream.
