What can I say? It’s Bruegger’s… they’re like the Subway of bagels. There are exponentially better options in other places and if you don’t realize that — if you really think its normal to pay almost $ 5 for a breakfast sandwich with an egg patty on it — you need to get out of the valley. That said, this place isn’t bad to grab a dozen or so in a pinch on off hours, if only to hold you over until the next time you can grab a decent bagel from someplace else.

There are very few good places to get a good bagel anyone. Their selection of cream cheeses are second to none. The bagels are good sized and service is normally quick. The only problem is their location in the heart of downtown Amherst which can make finding parking an issue some times of th day

I suggest discounting the negative reviews. The bagels are, as another reviewer said, «the best outside of New York…». And I doubt many NY bagels are as good. Probably no bakeries there know how to get poppy seeds on top and bottom as Bruggers does. I have never had poor service. I have only been to the Amherst, Northampton and Brattleboro stores.

So fast they won’t even listen to what you want. Nor do they want you to see how skimpy the sandwiches are before they are quickly wrapped in a bunch of paper giving them the appearance that they may actually be worth $ 7 or $ 8. What a joke! ONE small slice of pastrami on an $ 8 sandwich that didn’t even cover the bread. See through cheese and a small spoon of coleslaw and that’s their version of a Reuben. Pretty much just bread with the flavoring of the Reuben. Bagels hard and chewy. How can this place get away with charging mostly students that kind of money for basically bread. Shame on you!!!

I frequent this place because of the cheap and delicious bagels. The staff often being rude and standoffish keeps me from giving it 5 stars though. It’s quick service, not friendly service.

The bagels have simple ingredients and are a perfect combination of soft and chewy. Often they are still warm and don’t need toasting. The coffee is delicious and the service fast and friendly. The best bagels outside of New York or Montréal.

Terrible prices, food, coffee, and wifi. They also have the music on so loud that it is impossible to get any work done. Please spend your hard-earned money and your valuable time elsewhere.

Eh. Pretty average bagel shop with decent food and normally good service. However, I went to this shop recently and experienced very frustrating trouble with service. I ordered a ham, egg & cheese on a garlic bagel and a hazelnut iced coffee. I got my coffee(which was great) and paid for my bagel. My friend who was in line behind me got her bagel before me, and I was told«Sorry, the egg is taking forever». Okay– so I go and sit down and wait for them to call out my bagel. Finally after about 5 minutes they call my bagel, and the girl behind the counter hands it to another customer who had JUST ordered. «OH sorry» the girl said as she continued to hand the guy my bagel. So now i’m pretty frustrated, and I go back and sit at my table while the«manager» working the counter tells me that he will bring my bagel once its done. Around the time that my friend is finished her bagel, and I’ve watched the manager flirt with the girls behind the counter for about 10 minutes, my bagel is done. Get the bagel, take a bite into it, it isn’t toasted. Now I’m pretty mad at this point, so I go up to the counter and drop the bagel down and ask kindly if I can please get it toasted like I asked. Giggling, the«manager» puts the bagel in the toaster. About 5 minutes later I get the bagel I wanted. Another 5 minutes later one of the girls working there brings me over a chocolate chip cookie and says«the manager apologizes». So now I have a chocolate chip cookie that I don’t want because its 9 a.m. and I have the manager behind the counter giving me and awkward«sorry» wave. He should’ve brought the cookie over himself. Overall, the food is fine and it hits the spot. The management could use a lot of improvement as well as their customer service. I will probably not be going back any time soon.

Good garlic bagel… So good I had another one. hazelnut coffee was also good. Wasn’t crowded when I stopped in at 8am. Plan to stop in again when I’m in the area.

Easily the only place to consistently mess up my order. Today’s breakfast trip was probably my last, at least to this location. Instead of an iced coffee, I was rewarded with an iced tea. And, instead of an everything bagel with smoked salmon, I got an everything bagel with a huge slab of cream cheese on one side… and nothing else. Cool! Absolutely the worst thing to discover upon arriving back at my desk 10 minutes after leaving Bruegger’s.

Wow, the staff is so friendly here! The amount of cream cheese the gentleman at the counter applied on my everything flavored bagel was JUSTRIGHT. The bagel was a little chewy but really hit the spot the morning after a late night gathering of local juggalos in Amherst MA. Just what I needed. Thanks for reading my review you guys~! –Level U.

The bagels are standard but not exceptional. Everything is high-priced, even for Amherst. Good thing for Bruegger’s that college students eat/spend by proximity instead of quality or price, or they’d be out of business. Coffee is nominal but way overpriced. They even charge $ 1.39 for a refill on a small coffee; ridiculous! Cross the street to the Loose Goose(north) or Starbucks(south) or Black Sheep(around the corner from Starbucks) for better coffee and prices. Much better coffee next door at Henion’s at a better price, not to mention fantastic baked goods there(addictive French Crullers). Many of the student-workers are impersonal, a few are numbskulls — not listening and unobservant. They’ve survived for years by location and by bagels but there’s really not much to recommend them since there are better options all around.

I came here for brunch on a Sunday, already knowing what I wanted to get: the Smoked Salmon breakfast sandwich. In my opinion, one of the best sandwiches because it comes with cream cheese, tomatoes, red onions and capers. I got the sandwich on a jalapeño cheese bagel(extra $ 0.30), with extra tomatoes and red onions(another extra $ 0.30). I didn’t know the veggies would’ve been extra, but it was a good amount of extra for just a lil more than a quarter. BUT, I got my sandwich, and I definitely got the extra veggies, but was missing the capers! The capers are the best part of the sandwich(in my opinion!) and they definitely forgot them :((((super sad face I also got a medium hazelnut coffee to go with my brunch. I don’t think they have anything on Dunkin Donuts, just saying. Overall, I’d come back to Bruegger’s when I need my smoked salmon fixed(making sure they put the capers!) because it’s a nice clean spot with a lot of seats and free wifi.

There are a few things in life that bring me continuous pleasure. The taste of a warm pumpernickel bagel with salmon cream cheese is one of them. It’s 6AM and you need coffee, need solids of some sort so where do you go where it’s quick easy in and out. This is the place. Great bagels, decent coffee. More different types of cream cheese than you’ll ever need or want. Besides the above bagel configuration, the sun dried tomato with veggie cream cheese is always a home run.
