The beef lo mein and sesame chicken were both fantastic, but the rice could have been more flavorful/authentic. Food comes out fast, in huge portions for a good price. I come here every time I pass through buffalo.

If you like American chinese food, you don’t need to look any further. Golden Wok offers the authentic american-chinese experience, from a child taking your order to your meal showing up in shipping boxes from the Tops next door, you can’t get anymore authentic than this place. The food is also what you should expect. Gooey, gross, and delicious at the same time.

We love Golden Wok. Order for delivery about once a month. Reasonable prices, large portions, always generous on meat, friendly fast delivery. Would recommend.

Tried this place today and was sick two hours later… I ordered beef and broccoli… I am not impressed… it was cheap but sometimes you get what you pay for…

No. After reading a few positive reviews, I decided to give this place a try. I ordered the chicken and pork from the lunch special. My dish was consumed of sauce and onions. Small amount of meat, I’m not even sure if there was pork in the meal since it was drowned in the sauce. The one good thing is it’s cheap.5 $ for lunch, but even with they affordable price i won’t go back

The Golden age of Wok was fantastic. You had the Beatles and the Wolling Stones. Jimmy Page and Wobert Plant too. And everywone had speech impediments and weading disowders. I wemember it well. This place is named after the Golden age of Wok. What to get: Shrimp Curry(extra Spicy), Crab Rangoon. I’m not a fan of Chinese food, but I will go well, well out of my way to come here. Edit: it’s not REAL Chinese food, it’s Americanized. And some of the dishes aren’t great, some of the service isn’t great, it’s not healthy, the Crab Rangoons are overdone and better at Gin Gin, and I hate that they won’t do a small portion or lunch special of Curry Shrimp for me. Other than ALL that, it still gets a 5 just for the one dish I love. The most delicious dish I’ve ever eaten in a Chinese Restaurant is «Shrimp Curry». It’s perfect. A juicy spicy blend of shrimp and onions and sinful spices over white boiled rice. Make sure you get white rice here and not their yellow rice. The white is far superior. Its a very bare bones Shrimp Curry so if you like your curry filled with all kinds of wonderful veggies, you are at the wrong place. Just onions, spices, sauce, and shrimp. It’s massively popular in West Amherst because of it’s bargain basement prices especially at lunch time, and the quality and massive portions that some of the dishes have. It’s two meals for the price of one, that’s for sure! Probably the best Shrimp Curry I’ve ever had! I wish they would serve me the lunch portions of my delicious Shrimp Curry though like they used to. Things change. However I will still go way out of my way and get the big $ 10 version of it, and enjoy every single bite, and reminisce about the Golden Age of Wok.

This review is for the chicken cashew only… Which is delicious. I lived 25 mins away and I would still go and get this because it’s just that good.

Only ordered the large wonton soup and a pork egg roll. Walked out without spending more than $ 5. Yum!

The food is delicious and well worth the price. Prices are in line with the rest of the Chinese restaurants in the area. The take-out boxes are always packed full. Fast, delicious food– we love this place!

How does this place consistently get 4+ star reviews? I get take out here frequently only because it is 5 minutes from my house and I am lazy. Best things on their menu are the shrimp springrolls and the moo shu pork. I haven’t quite determined if their springrolls are home made like their dumplings are or not but thery are quite good. The dumplings while clearly homemade dur their inconsistent shapes are nothing special and their dumpling sauce usually has a gun metal after taste to it. The reason I enjoy their moo shu pork is because it is one of the few places where it doesn’t artrive swimming in a brown oily soup, the shreeded cabbage and other vegetables still resemble their original form and taste and the pork is plentiful and tasty. I’ve tried many of the dishes on the menu and found no wows on it. Hot and Sour soup has a taste I cannot identify and is typically not hot or sour in taste, the won ton soup is bland and won ton themselves mediocre on a good day. I ordered cold noodles with sesame sauce on my last visit and the noodles tasted like they ahd simply been taken out of a plastic bag and thrown in a take out container, the sauce was awful and inedible. Gin Gin and Red Pepper are much better choices and worth the extra 10 minute drive.

Food is inconsistent. Sometimes I will get an order where the food is just mouthwatering and delicious, other times I will order the same thing, and it will taste off, everything from the flavor of the sauce or the crispiness of the chicken. Please note, some of the flavors may not be what you expect, for example the sesame chicken is less sweet and more tangy than most of the places I have had it before. There are two main women who seem to run the counter, one is always polite and helpful, the other looks at me when I order like I am wasting her time and she would rather be dead than work there. That being said, if you want food fast, if they are not too busy I can pick up a meal in 5 – 10 minutes from the time I call. The pricing is fair, and the food is generally good. Give it a shot.

Let me start off by saying that I cook Chinese at home and can tell good take-out from the bad. Here is where I’m torn– I’ve ordered food from here many times simply because they’re conveniently closer to where I stay when I’m in the area. The quality is tolerable and probably best suited to local tastes. If that is the criteria you live by then they’re considered good for the area. Compared to other establishments closer to UB North, they’ve got some work to do. They don’t carry many of the dishes that I know and love and that’s why I’d play it safe and opt for fried rice and fried/steamed dumplings. Stray too far off the beaten path and you’re in for a hit-or-miss. Overall they are reliably consistent, if that’s what you’re looking for. If you want to challenge your palette I suggest you look a little further.

This place gets 5 stars since it’s consistently the best fast-food style Chinese restaurant I’ve been to in WNY. I’ve been working down the road from Golden Wok for about 7 years. I was eating there back when the name was Wok 23. Anyways, I’ve probably ordered from Golden Wok over 100x and not only have they always gotten the order right the first time, the quality of the food has always been as good as you could want from this type of restaurant. The menu is extensive and the prices are reasonable. Not only would I recommend Golden Wok to a friend, I have recommended it to many friends.
